She is absolutely NOT the rightful champion. As much as I understand why people feel that way, the drug found in her system was BANNED- period. It was known to be banned all the way back in the early 1980’s, so there’s no excuse- on anyone’s part. The rules exist for a legitimate reason, and there’s no room for exceptions.
@@saragrant9749 It was NOT known about the inclusion of substance from the banal nurofen on the list of prohibited substances in the 80s, for the simple fact that it was included on that list that year, when Andrea was stripped of her rightful medal! You don't know the circumstances, but you distort the facts with passion and ill will!

I never saw the footage of Isarescu and Boboc before! Anyone noticed that Isarescu's hands totally looked like Gina Gogean's?? And incredible twisting by Boboc. Those were the days...
this was and still is high quality gymnastics. give these routines a little tweak to fit the composition requirements and they could still medal today
With those bars? Never, even by 2000 I’m surprised at how bad Raducan bars were, her front giants were just bad

I think with reasonable tweaks, they can at least qualify 2016 and 2020 as a whole team. They have strong floor and vault, not-so-bad beam, and very weak UB.

The biggest injustice? You mean actually following the rules of doping to the letter? Sorry, but no. The ruling was clear cut and well known for decades about that drug- no excuse and no exceptions.

Do I feel the rules should be circumvented because of it? No. The rules for doping are crystal clear for every athlete and coach- no exceptions.

We can take a look at Serena Williams and her "approved" drugs for her "ASTM" "heart condition" and so on. She got enhancers all her career but with those allowed because the doctor prescribed them for her "illnesses". Russia, America, Germany, and Italy are well known for their developed doping systems in the last 50 years. Be it in football, tennis,ciclism, basketball or athleticism.

Absolutely not. A banned substance is a banned substance, the rules are clear cut. It matters not how it got there, everyone knew what was acceptable and what wasn’t. Rules exist for a reason- and it’s not to be overruled.

@@saragrant9749 Her doc gave her Nurofen because she had a cold. It's been proved this medicine wouldn't have help her increasing her results, all the contrary. Ever since (Sydney 2000) isn't allowed anymore that 3 gymnast from the same country get qualified, because back then on this contest, on podium were just romanian gymnast (first, second and third place)...

@@whatever1009 lmao. She took a nurofen pill(for cold) given to her by the doctor at that time. The same thing happens to many athletes these days in football and tennis. Back then on the podium were Romanian gymnasts because the amount of work they were doing was insane. They spent all their childhood in gymnastic camps, away from their parents.( from the age of 8- 10 -12 years ). Catalina Ponor was a top gymnast and competed until she was 30. Most gymnasts retire between 20-24(in those times).
Please bring back the artistic dance to the floor and beam.

Gymnastics needs Romania back at its best. Women’s gymnastics is otherwise a cultural desert.
There were multiple injustices across the whole field in the 2000 AA final. The local organisers have a lot to answer for, as does the IOC.
I don’t think WAG has improved as a spectator sport since 2000. Maybe Biles has higher level tumbling, but her performances are not better than what we see here.
I don't see any grace in their movements today. :(
All that grace has been replaced by lot of marketing and PR.

This is the moment when some ppls should realise what Biles do is GREAT but is great for an average gymnasts! in 70% of her routines she go with at less one foot outside of carpet just to make difficulty.... maybe next time she go at shopping, drink a coffe and come back for her routine bcz the deduction is just 0.1 points.... at football if a GK use his hands on ball outside of his protected area he take RED CARD, should be like that in gymnastic too, foot outside of carpet and you go on banch:) looking at Andreea and Simona its just joy, perfect tehnique and smile ...

Notice Octavian Belu pacing around the floor? He keeps his eye on them and knows if they put even a toe wrong. He was a strict taskmaster but he and Coach Bitang got results and, more importantly, medals though the methods used in training were somewhat questionable.
Those methods are why Romania barely exists on the international gymnastics scene.
And ruined the lives of countless young girls in the process. It got results- at a very heavy cost, and a completely unnecessary one.

We see Simona coughing after a super dif floor routine, maybe that'd what Raducan had but they knew she had the best chance to win so they gave her that mysterious cold pill.. either way, Belu's Romanian teams were the best breeds of athletes during this Era. Over Bela, he just had stars that faltered under pressure since Mary Lou
The mysterious pill isn't all that mysterious. The common cold pill cost him the medal.
That pill has no connection with the gymnastics federation. Not even on the doping list 😂

Nurofen is mysterious? I just took one for my cramps😂. And now I want to sleep. So I can t imagine how that would help a gymnast do a perfect routine. Only hard work does. And these girls really worked hard. Such a shame what happened.

She fell on qualications and scored 8.9, so bellu decided to let her compete only on beam at finals.

Last Olympics I gave a fawk to watch. I couldn't even be bothered to watch this go around. FX has turned into eye searing eye blight. If I wanted to watch straight tumbling with no choreography, there is a gymnastic discipline I could watch.

Both power tumblers yes but Raducan has flexibility, toe point, precision, and dance skills that Biles does not

SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK!!! I would like to add the emphasis on dance elements as well. Before they were simply done to fulfill the requirements and receive a few bonus points. Now they are literally equivalent to some of the most common tumbling passes? The E cap isn’t enough. It shouldn’t be lower but something else needs to be done.
It really hasn’t. What has are the stupid spins and leaps that break the flow of the routine.
This is not fair why did the Romanians keep their gold medal and China lost there bronze.
