What did you think? similar to apartments in your neck of the woods?

    • @CarolReidCA

I dunno. We have earthquakes here & I wouldn't live in an apartment here in California... I need a yard & no one on my roof!
      Dryers are important!!!
I'm wondering about schools opening here too... Kids here are doing homework online... graduations cancelled. Strange world we live in these days!
      Looks like a nice apartment!
I would invest in a microwave/convection oven... I have one and stopped using my oven, except for special events.
How do you have pizza, cookies, etc. without an oven?
You'll have to share how the smarthome stuff works! You can put in Amazon affiliate links too!

I pay $500 for a tiny studio in , literally, the middle of nowhere Colorado. No jobs, no entertainment, but it's ok with me.
$850 can't buy anything in any city in the usa. Rents are killing people.

My mortgage is 645 on an acre in a safe area. 3 bedrooms and big living room I dread painting. Always cheaper to buy though. I always preferred mechanical as much as possible. I'd go bonkers in an apartment. Got a storm coming in and we lose power alot so generator is at the front of the garage to easily get.
I'm not rushing into crowds for a long time. There's going to be cases for a long time when nearly conquered and hopefully mutates into something harmless like many viruses do. Took a couple of years for the Spanish flu to fizzle out and less traveling back then. We do have a good treatment found. Works for most. Chloroquine from a easy to grow weed, zinc and zithromax. Who would've thought an antiparasitic would work? An animal dewormer has promise. No time to wait on a safe vaccine.

    Hey,Matt,我觉得你家阳台应该要安装防护网,应为你的女儿还很小,以防万一,大人走开了,没看住,以前有这样的新闻说小孩子从高楼阳台,窗台摔下去。我的家也在高层,我们房间和阳台都安装了防护网。

We don't now have a place to hang clothes or the items they have.

Coming from a Chinese father with a 7 year old girl. I know why kids got bad teeth these days. Because they did not have enough practice of their baby teeth,. The baby food we gave them is mostly prepared to paste level. And Chinese grandparents hand feed kids is also a major factor contributing to the bad teeth situation. The kids were not trained to think that having food is their own personal thing that needs to learn by themselves. Instead they thought they are supposed to be fed by someone else. This "I am taking care of you" mentality from parents and grandparents is in fact taxing on the future of kids. The price to pay to learn these basic survival skill will be much higher when they are older. My suggestion is stop feeding Eva right now but try encourage her to do it herself as much as possible. "Good parents are role models for their kids, average parents are tutors for their kids, bad parents are servants for their kids."

👍🏻 Eva is looking lot happier than she was, in the Quarantine Hotel. 🤩 Lovely apartment, spacious and nice view. I have never lived in an apartment before... plus I'm definitely not a great fan of the height, if I'm honest. lol! But, each one of us is unique and we all have our personal preferences in life. What's truly important is, we are happy where we are. Stay safe everyone 🌹

Another reason for people rushing in these particular tourist sites is that local tourism commission put up time-limit non-fee tour or give large discounts on tickets recently, which is apparently underestimating the risk of attracting too many tourists at the same time. I think they'll adjust that very soon cause it's already on the news.

You should go to the northern part of China, especially northeast China, all food comes in bigger portion like America big. And where dryer will never sold. Winter, everybody has heater, summer clothes will dry in couple of hours, not humid like Ning Bo.

Apparently our love of ICE in drinks is considered an "American" phenomenon, Matt; last time I was in Europe (13 yrs ago) quickly learned that it was considered a "luxury", and not to ask for it!

Wow, the rent in China increased a lot over the past few years. My memory of rent of such level of apartment in a city similar to Ningbo is 500ish.

dryer is really a preference thing, that it had already existed for quite a long time but rarely people prefer it
people make ice in their freezer, yet in chinese culture, ice water is consider as a unhealthy way or drink water

my home started to use microwaves since 2004 which is quite late in my city., I think it's quite common to use the microwave in China now. it just the apartment doesn't offer it, you can buy your own. just like renting in Canada, there's a lot of apartments that are unfurnish. You can’t just see the living state of a small city and think it represents the standard of living of the entire country

More and more young people in China will consider smart homes, central air conditioners, dishwashers, ovens, garbage processors, dryers, water purifiers, and zero-cold water heaters when decorating their houses. This is a big new market.

As a Chinese from the northern part and currently living in the south, i also find it strange that ppl here rarely have ice drinks, even for ppl my age. Back in my home, warm water or tea is like only for grandpas and grandmas.

I agree with your plan to ease into "normal" life. It won't be the old normal. Great View. I'm interested what the pollution will be like when more normal traffic is out and about.
    Be well,

I would be scared to live there it ‘s so high . I have a son with autism who likes to toss things it would be impossible for me . I think it’s so interesting to see how other countries live , thanks for sharing . I’m very concerned that this invisible virus is hiding in a symptomatic people who don’t know they are giving it to others . I think eventually we all will get it . The antibody test will give us relief to know if we have had it and lived through it .

Matt thanks for sharing. I have some observation about your daughter's teeth problem. It could be a genetically imperfect closure of the gum and the tooth root. There could be small caveats in between so that small chewing residuals fill the gap then causes gum damage. I was borned and raised in China, without knowing this but having tooth problem in very young age. When my daughter was 3, she complained her teeth hurt. I had her see a dentist and found out what happened to her. She had then crowns installed on couple of her teeth to protect the gum. The crowns were removed when she changed her baby tooth in about 8. You might want to take her to see a dentist for proper correction.
