Jim is a fantastic guy. With his big heart, he sees beauty in very simple thing, everything etc and he captures them in the right moment. Great photos and story teller too. As for the man smoking while delivering gas cylinders, yes, that's classic and best marketing message with full confidence: "My Gas Cylinders Don't Leak!" Hahaha.

This is one of your BEST yet. An idea: It can be tightened down for a half hour show for TV (22 minutes?). Need some re-edit into a mini-documentary about a vanishing part of older China. The juxtaposition of modern factories rising up next to the ramshackle houses and vegetable fields, sprinkled with gorgeous lotus ponds, friendly villagers interacting with an American grandpa (😉). CGTN should broadcast it.

As much as I love the big cities for their amenities, I equally love the small towns and village for their peacefulness and simplicity. Every few years my wife and I visit the village she was born in. Her third oldest brother still lives there. It is a very relaxing time spent visiting and reminiscing. Of course, there is always food, baijiu, and smokes offered to entertain us. It is not an easy life, but it one of the most honest ways of living that I have ever had the privilege of experiencing. Keep up the good work and be well.

Korea was recovering from the war , 25 years after the Korean War and it looks very similar to The Village that you visited there. A lot of the smaller aspects of the town that I visited , they had modern buildings too coming up, but a lot of the people lived in houses very similar to that

It’s Chinese tradition, especially in the villages, for old people to even keep coffins ready for use when they die. So sometimes the coffins would be collecting dust in a spare room for years. Eerie right!

The true love and empathy for those people is to make them live a better quality of life, rather than visiting them from people’s own modern life once or twice and took a picture or two, crying for “they are gonna lose their heritage” just to satisfy themselves (I’m no saying the authors). Everyone deserves modern life style.
