      I would be unjust in justifying that your argument concerning the Justifier isn't justified. I'll take the double negative word play...works for me...it's justifiable for this Justifier set.

    The Razor Crest is about the same level set at 999 parts for $125 only two years ago, and it had the first ever Grogu minifig. You're right, this Bane set 40% more expensive is bad marketing.

    All that wasted space because of the tail/landing gear mechanism. The tail movement is great (because it matches the in-show ship) but connecting it to the landing gear is unnecessary. Can either take the landing gear out completely or just leave them on like with the Razor Crest. The set could've been made more compact (and thus, less expensive) or more interior room could've been provided.

    At 170 dollars, 70 more than a set with more pieces than it, it is _the_ set to skip this year in my honest opinion, purely because of the pricepoint

  • @RoscoeWasHere
    @RoscoeWasHere 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think this set was a bit rushed like the N-1 was. And that price... won't even look at it for less than 20% off. At least with the Falcon or AT-AT you know they're both solid sets for the price.

  • @coffeeinhandproductions3238
    @coffeeinhandproductions3238 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Cool, sizable, semifunctional vehicle but at that price for most I don't think it'll even be a consideration. Worse that this is over $200 here in Canada. Galaxy Explore is an exceptionally good PPR even at $130 here compared to this. That and it's more pieces with absolutely no stickers to my understanding. This be a shelf warmer for sure.

  • @HeroUndying

    You would not believe the amount of people that were in line to get just this set on August 1st. I'm with you, I refuse to spend that amount of money on this set. Hell, I don't even think a 20% sale would be enough of a reduction for me to get it. I might just have to bricklink the figures and call it a day.

      I think it's just that there were a lot of fans that were waiting for this, and would buy no matter the price to some degree. But this price will not attract any casual fans like you and me, and I think that is what jang was getting at when he said it wont sell well

      I feel that on day 1 most star wars sets are going to sell exceedingly well, because the mega fans will line up for day 1. Give it a month or two, and I feel that this set will be very over stocked at Lego stores and at big box retailers. I mean, Moff Gideons lights cruiser is about the same size, with like double the interior, more desirable figs, and $10 cheaper and that didn't sell well.

    I think the recent price increases may finally result in LEGO shooting itself in the foot. Many people have *always* complained about Lego prices being too high... but most/many of us have always understood that the quality control Lego has and the quality of the final product has - generally speaking - been worth it... (at least in the long run, with a few possible exceptions.) I think, perhaps, that the "bridge too far" has finally been crossed. (We shall see...)

    Thanks Jang! I really do think Lego mispriced this set, especially with how reasonably they priced the Scythe. Personally I would not even think about getting this set until it gets a 33-40% discount from where I live. The minifig selection is not even that great.

    • @Robot_Eva
      @Robot_Eva 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Not to mention that the figure selection will also likely hold more aftermarket value than the Justifier's will due to the long anticipated P2 Commander Cody. So even by a lego investor's measure, this set falls completely flat. It doesn't come close to meeting any of the value, toy, collectible, or investment, its peers releasing at the same time have

    • @DEVILTAZ35
      @DEVILTAZ35 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's the parts it uses not the amount of parts it uses. Bigger parts cost more to produce. It's not really rocket science that the larger parts are going to slow down the production process compared to smaller parts.

    13:25 That white pin with stud is nice to see. Those are very expensive on the aftermarket because they mostly appeared in 2003 sets. So it's good to see them produced again :D

    Agreed with price as everyone has said, Lego’s pricing is getting up there to fast. Might be one of the last sets I get from there site. Might have to wait for any further sets to go on sale in store from now on.

    • @pi172
      @pi172 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      I only buy them on sale. Germans are the loudest who cry about prices, but we get nearly all lego sets with 25-40% off easily. It was disturbing for me to learn that in a lot of other countries its much harder to get discounts on lego.

    • @KF75411
      @KF75411 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The little 75332 set is even worse. It is priced way out of line with any of the others and an extra $5 is added on in Canada for some reason. $45 Canadian for 89 pieces? 50 cents a piece all of a sudden?

  • @imsomethingofascientistmys8430

  • @sam4781
    @sam4781 2 ปีที่แล้ว +26

    i feel like this set is just disappointing. Theres no way the ship is desirable enough to justify that price and for modern lego the design is so lackluster. That fuselage is so blocky and the space is so badly used. I have the new Atte and honestly it doesnt even feel like theyre from the same company. This just seems disappointing

  • @DiceRobo
    @DiceRobo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +43

    If it had comparable space inside as the last falcon (same price) then I think it would be acceptable, Right now it looks like it has less space than even the Infinity war Guardians ship, and that was only 80 or 100 with the extra pod craft included, and you would have six minifigures and a big fig.
    And about that function, it's just kind of silly the fact it has to have so much to make a landing skid go down an inch, I don't understand what the designer was really thinking on that one.

    • @billhoult3262
      @billhoult3262 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't have much familiarity with the source content, but I feel like extending the axles in the wings out so the engines on the wingtips rotate by 90 degrees when landed would give the ship a VTOL vibe and make the play feature actually cool without any real extra effort.

  • @jakedaonlysnake
    @jakedaonlysnake 2 ปีที่แล้ว +31

    No joke, harshest I've seen jang ever be on a set. The price point Lego is starting to put things at is really starting to rub a lot of people the wrong way, this probably wont be the last review we see like this. Also, consumers are not stupid, we know a bad value when we see one. Lego will have to learn a lesson at some point and this may be the time

  • @dice_plz8055
    @dice_plz8055 2 ปีที่แล้ว +20

    Just comparing this to other sets at this price range reveals how bad of a deal it is. The now $170 AT-AT comes with 2 more figures and has way more useable interior space as well as better play features and 200 more pieces. The Imperial Light Cruiser at $160 comes with one more figure, a bit more interior space, and 300 more pieces. Even 2019's Millennium Falcon comes with 2 more figures, 300 more pieces, and basically the entire set has a useable interior. You have way better options at this new price range, it's absurd how expensive this is. I cannot justify spending that much money on this, even if it contains two pretty desirable figures in Cad Bane and Omega. Definitely going to either buy this on sale or just skip on it and buy the figures off Bricklink

  • @The_AGL_Group
    @The_AGL_Group 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Cad Bane’s ship should not be more expensive than a Millennium Falcon. That is genuinely a failure of set budgeting. I have a feeling that this set will be remembered for years among other infamously overpriced sets.
    As you said, this set should be $120 max. That $50 price difference is enough to buy the most recent X-Wing with. It’s extra embarrassing since the Galaxy Explorer is cheaper with more usable space.

      Jang did a breakdown of Lego set costs a few years ago and the data he collected showed that while licensed sets do tend to cost a little more, it's no where near as drastic as people like to make it out to be.

  • @lucasurquiza554
    @lucasurquiza554 2 ปีที่แล้ว +84

    There’s no way this set sells well. It is an unusual design for a ship (that looks pretty bad in my opinion) that isn’t we’ll known or iconic and doesn’t even have any special play features. The set is well designed, but the biggest draw is the minifigs, which is a terrible sign for a big expensive set.

    • @general8191
      @general8191 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I agree. While I liked the bad batch show I never paid any attention to banes ship and the price is way too much. Why get this boring build when the ATTE has more Minifigures, a better build, and 30 dollars cheaper?

      @tygovisser5626 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Why wouldn't they print window pieces? They ususally do so. Seems cheap for that price.
    Should be quater smaller, without link between tail and wings. Would have same amount of interior space for less total volume. As a kid, I never tried to make any mechanisms for landing gear. Simple hinges were fine. Internal space for play was all that mattered. Any gearing makse sense mostly for things you want to change in flight, like s-foils.

  • @Scottthebassplayer98
    @Scottthebassplayer98 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Listen, price per piece is not everything. Absolutely. But along with this set not meeting the 10 cents per piece mark, there's a lot working against the value of this one. It's a big ship, but it has a fair amount of wasted space, a mostly bland interior, a small figure selection (for that price), and few notable play features.
    This set could have been significantly scaled down, and have included the same play features, interior detail and figure selection, and have costed maybe up to $100.

  • @Vadahann
    @Vadahann 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Looks a bit more interesting than I would have thought. Still really dislike those gaps in the "wings", really breaks the likeness of the ship for me. And I say this as a fan of mechanical systems but at some point, they should not comes at the depend of interior space, especially in a toy. A big and expensive model like this should have more play value, that some automated flappy landing gear.

    With an RRP of £150 in the UK, it was always going to be a stretch for me - despite my longings for the Cad Bane and Omega figs. So very happy that a pre-Christmas sale saw it knocked down to £100 - very happy to pick it up at that price. The mechanics don’t interest me. The gappy uncovered nature of the tail section does bother me - but despite that I’m happy with my purchase at two thirds retail pricing. 😂

    The price is just highway robbery. The set reviewed yesterday (Inquisitor) was WAY more reasonable and cooler. Must be the Cad Bane figure that they feel they can jack up the price

    Even though the interior -technically- fits 2 figures, I'm having a hard time thinking of a recent set that better embodies the (unfortunate) spirit of BSOS (Big Ship, One Seat) design. This ship could so easily have been done at a similar scale and price tag to the most recent version of Boba Fett's ship, and yet... this is what we get.
    Ah well. If anybody needs me I'll be in the corner with multiples of 10497

    To me, it seems the strut on the bottom of the engine is used to support the build if you choose to keep it landed without deploying the skids. If they made it taller it'd be unbalanced and probably delicate.

    This was the kind of review that made me a fan of Jang - he doesn't tip into the collector evaluation, but maintains it as a LEGO toy and praises and criticizes as he sees it. It's a strange design in 2022 when the move is on for lower cost, smaller versions that use the plethora of specialized parts LEGO has built up, how did this make any sense? This could have been easily 2/3 the size and still larger than necessary, and been a much better success. some imagination for spicing up the exterior was in order here; LEGO kits are not replicas, they are reproductions. A few variations in even the gray hues would have done wonders. When the best thing you can say about a set is "It's not as ugly as I expected", it's a pretty bad start. Looking forward to smaller MOC style versions of this to be honest.

    I see a lot of great pieces for MOC making; the designs of the wings, and how the designers make the pieces achieve those shapes, are gonna be interesting, but like Jang said, it's just so expensive...

    FINALLY!!! Someone important for LEGO comunity said it, LEGO is and must be a toy not an invesment or like some idiots says "the new gold", it's designed to play, the LEGO investors comunity are ruining LEGO and the retail prices for sure and LEGO knows it, for that we're getting those ridiculous prices they know many of us will get the sets anyways because "will increase the value when the set get retired"

    Interestingly enough Walmart is clearancing these out right now in my area for exactly the price Jang recommended - $120. These were just so overpriced. The main draw is really Cad Bane and that's it.

    I got one for about $125 dollars (I live in Mexico so keep in mind that every Lego product is about 5 to 20 bucks extra) and decided it was a reasonable price for what it has to offer. Yeah, I don't recommend buying one at its full price

    This isn't a kneejerk response, I've loved Lego for over 20 years, but with all these recent price increases with designs that don't improve or in some cases even get worse, I honestly think I'm done with Lego. It's time to find another hobby.

  • @RideWithGerben

    It's missing a lot of greebling, details. Like they quit designing it after they finished with the front part of the ship. For that price Lego should have included a printed canopy.

  • @SovietSquib

    Problem is the lego "investors" and others keep buying just enough of these sets to allow lego to keep raising prices because they sell just enough to justify it. The prices will 100% get worse than this until people stop. Lego investing most certainly has a role in destroying the lego collecting world.
