I say it all the time, one of the best things about the steamdeck is the fact that its not windows.
I agree Steam Deck is the GOAT. if I want to play more demanding games, I’ll play that on my PS5/Xbox Series X.
The overall package is better on the stream deck than any other hand held. This is why I chose steam deck.
I sold my Ally too and keep Deck OLED.
I agree with this video. I already have a powerful desktop gaming PC, and for a companion handheld device I think that battery life, ergonomics, screen quality, user experience, community involvement and pick up and play-ability are more important considerations.

Nice choice. As a fellow owner of a 4090 system, streaming games through an OLED screen is an obvious choice. When I am out and about, I choose something truly pocketable like an RG35xx plus or the Anbernic 405M. When I have to travel I bring a 4090 laptop. Not comparable to my desktop setup but as good as you can get when you stay at a hotel.

My main problem i have with the steam deck is compatibily, most of my games working fine on the deck much more than the rog ally, but when it comes to the anticheat or really old games its alot of tinkering or not working at all when the rog ally is working fine, mostly when i want to play multiplayer games with my friend i rather have to deal with windows and not to switch windows OS everytime i want to play anticheat games.

I am buying an sd oled instead of the ally or legion go because I already own a rtx 3070 ti laptop and building a new rig with the new 500 series next year. I don’t need crazy power in a handheld and don’t plan on playing current aaa titles on the sd oled. I bought many many old games on steam and never got around them because I didn’t want to play them on pc. So I am excited to finally play them on the sd oled

I sold my Ally too and got the steamdeck oled for 150 . Its just better overall and has more batteryife

It is not better overall you must be delusional, the speakers are trash and have 0 bass, the fan sounds like a F-15, reaches 87c at 20 watts, weight is unbalanced due to battery on one side, limited game support.
Ally reaches 60c or less at 20 watts, speakers sound much better and have actual bass, way higher framerate aswell, can replace nvme with ease, weight is very balanced, wider game selection, free lifetime Dolby license and gamepass for 3 months, 1 year warranty, can open the device cut plastic, repaste, change nvme, sticks, etc and you still keep full warranty.

Is there a reason to have that alternate OS instead of using EmuDeck?
I’ve tried 6800 u handheld, 7840u, and currently have z1 extreme legion bro (love that thing) but the steam deck oled is way better overall experience and it’ll take a huge generational improvement for me to get anything but a steam deck 2. The issue isn’t the handhelds, it’s windows, just too much jank to deal with.
I still have my ally, but I hardly use it anymore. Steam deck oled is much much better because of the hdr feature and battery life. And honestly much more. Steam deck is the king.

@@Yuruo deck reaches 87c at 20watts, ally does 60c or less, therefore deck is thermally inefficient..

I've got both but I wouldn't sell my Rog ally. But tbh they botha hardly get used since I got my quest 3.
I sold my quest 3 and bought an rog ally. Quest 2 era was the best era.

I'm open minded. And will never gonna jump on hate wagons. I recently bought Ally(extreme) Reason why I choose Ally instead of SD was I could get Ally on credit and pay it off with nice rules. But I'm really happy everyone is pushing handhelds. It's good for all consumers. Battery life on Ally is weakest point that's for sure. How much you can get out from Diablo 4 with SD oled?

I ordered my steam deck few days ago and never got it delivered cause fedex stole it i know they did now i dont know if i should order another and hope not to get stolen again
Biggest let down with the oled is that it didn't get a boost in ram just better screen and battery.
I like the oled but not being able to play fps games like cod puts me off and having to boot windows sounds like a nightmare

@trueroman6775 to gain around 2-4fps more, not a noticeable jump..obviously the battery consumption management is also going to be less if the screen is cranked up due to it being oled, just saying they should've made the upgrade a very noticeable one like more ram not faster bandwidths

Good luck playing future AAA games on your new device then. Even lossless scaling doesnt seem to work on steam deck.
Games are adapted for steam deck, steam will push games and make new device as old device cant push new games. Steam deck oled is the king!
Almost every game released is trying to be compatible with this device. It's not a matter of if the device can handle it, it's whether that company is lazy enough to pass up the profits by not optimizing for it.
There are entire websites dedicated to device compatibility with various games and bug fixes daily for older titles in the proton releases
🤦 it's a fixed platform if CD Projekt Red can create a SteamDeck specific profile for CyberPunk and tuning was made to the last of us then that indicates developers are willing to make adjustments for SteamDeck the longer it's around the more that happens.
They play just fine if the developers care enough to make profiles for it, just like cyberpunk did. And when steam deck 2 releases in a couple years, will all be ready for it. Either way I don’t usually play a lot of triple A games on my steamdeck as I’d rather play those on my 4090 and oled monitor at home, at least the first time I run through the game
well, most of us use steam deck for easily driven games like indies and old backlog games from past 3 or so years and most of us owns a PC to play new releases or AAA games

Ally is like a drag racer. Good for specific narrow cases. Steam deck is just far more flexible, better battery life - plays a broader array of games.
I wouldnt be playing any strategy games on the ally, nothing that needs a mouse input.
Gpu is equivalent to Radeon 660m...
Ally uses 780m

legion go is great as well I have both and I don't know which one to keep deck or go cause its a hard decision
I love that the Deck has two touch pads. Games like the Tycoon series and Command & Conquer need a touch pad to make them easier to play.

@@mihaistovi3115 I have an ROG ally and I haven't experience any problem for 4 months of owning it I can play any games I put in it with no problem at 1080p so I don't know what imperfection your talking about.
Imperfections like MicroSD problems and Windows cluncky experience for an handheld😉. You must try deck...perfect comunity suport...updates and much more, longer battery life ans so on... But if u consider that Rogue is perfect for you then it is 🙃

Models with serial numbers R8 and R9 have resolved the overheating problem associated with the SD card. I own the R8 model. The Steam Deck isn't suitable for me as I primarily play games on Game Pass and Epic Games, such as Kingdom Hearts 3, Fortnite, Genshin Impact, as well as titles from Steam like Forsaken, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Tekken 8, and Street Fighter. I prefer gaming at 1080p with VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) at 120Hz and more power, given that most of the games I play are modern AAA titles. People have varied preferences for their devices; some favor SteamOS, while others prefer Windows. I opt for Windows due to its lack of limitations. I receive daily support, and the platform has improved significantly since its inception. I haven't encountered any bugs since purchasing mine in December 2023, and it's evident that numerous improvements have been made through updates. Asus provides robust support, similar to Steam Deck, which had its share of issues upon early release. It's unfair to judge a device solely based on its initial release
