Im not from USA but i really feel for the drone community in America wirh this ban. Im feeling its more of a personal gain than security issues. If at all it is security, then what does the country have to hide....

Well this bill basically revokes new FCC approvals for by 2030, so basically the FPV products we are accostumed like Mateksys, Holybro, SpeedyBee, RadioMaster etc. and such might not get FCC approval for Wifi, Bluetooth, or basically any radio device. Correct me if I am wrong about the timeline, but my understanding is that these are also getting slashed and right now there's not many alternatives for cheap Betaflight electronics.

I just bought my first DJI drone because they are trying to ban them. I figured if the government doesn't want me to have it, it must be pretty good. And I was right, I love this thing. Such a cool drone.

Listen, I hear you and you have a valid point, so do many others who post similar videos. I own thousands of dollars in DJI gear including 3 drones and 2 FPV quads, gimbals, pocket3, I use this equipment to create art as well as grow my video production business, so trust me, I do not want DJI to be banned, but the fact is that (just like Huawei), DJI is known to be controlled by the PRC, and (just like Huawei) they will get banned. It's not a matter of "if", it's a matter of "when". Here is why... I 1st: the reasons why DJI is deemed a risk to national security is likely classified and so that will not be made public, and the government does not have to "prove" to anyone if they have enough reason to do it.
2nd: sending letters and calling senators and politicians is a complete waste of time, they get briefings from DOD and other intel agencies that far outweigh any reasons that they get on letters and emails. Politicians do not care about our hobbies, filmmaking needs, agriculture, etc..
A better counter-argument is that, if DJI is helping China spy on us, then so is every other Chinese-made device that connects to the internet, that includes devices from American companies like Apple and Amazon, and so will we now ban them too?... But do you think those clowns in Capitol Hill will listen to that argument? Ask Huawei
Skydio is lobbying hard and lining the proper pockets. The best we can do is a boycott on skydio products if this goes through. Even if a replacement is not as good as a Skydio product that would be my choice over a Skydio.

The risk is that they wouldn't have control over their citizens. People stocking .223 ammo isn't going to do much in a future revolutionary or civil war compared to armed drones

The phones we carry the software is either open source android, or owned by an american company apple. So no it's not an issue. TikTok is an issue because it's part of China's closed system.

It's really sad. I watched the market for 7 years as the tech rose and prices fell. I spent $2500 on 2 DJI drones, hoping to find a way out of the endless maze of warehouse work.
One month later, and this happens. Even if by some miracle things turn for the better, we'll always have to worry about our stuff getting bricked in the future.
Always seems to be huge let downs in the hobby unfortunately.
I wonder how much Skydio payed Stefanik? It would be nice if someone could get some sort of proof something like that went down.

So far as of now all existing DJI drones that have FCC approval will be able to use. The proposed bill would ban future models by Chinese drone manufacturers including DJI.

If this proposed bill passes, then it will ban all future Chinese drones from the USA including DJI.
Correct, as of now, all existing DJI drones that have already been granted FCC approval would not be affected by the proposed ban.

Your absolutely correct unfortunately brother. This ban will take out any and all drones and parts that come from China essentially killing our entire hobby for parts and drones. I hope DJI comes up with something to battle this ridiculous fear mongering.

As of now all existing FCC approved electronics from Chinese manufacturers will not be affected by this bill. Only future ones. I stated in the video that our current drones will be ok but question is how long will they last without needing replacement? What if all the products sell out and there is none left? Questions we all have and want to know.
@edrone_ agreed, 100 percent. I suppose the only thing we can do to help our drones from crashes or whatnot, is to buy replacement parts/batteries, now while we can, before they become impossible to get.

Biggest issue with the proposed bill is this would also ban all Chinese drone parts from the USA as well so we would see a very negative affect on the DIY side also.

Also Check out the list of fcc filings by dji already approved but not even released yet. There's still a year or so of new products to come out and also just make sure your dji care refresh is up to date on any mavic 3's so you can always get a refresh. Don't let this affect your mental health brother. Don't let this impact your income negatively.

I'm rooting for USA to come up with some better stuff. It's about time we keep the money in the family. Think of how much we send to DJI. Just imagine if we(USA) had the best drones. We already have the best pilots and videographers, we need the tech nerds to rise up and dominate haha

O3 air units are insanely good and they are already approved. So we can still be able to build using o3 and even buy PNP kits that we will just plug our o3 into.

@@edrone_ I have a DJI Mini 3 Pro. I just got the study material for the 107. This isn't very thrilling news for me. I'm very tired of the crap that comes from Government in general. I feel like I just wasted a lot of money, because of this crap. I'm just recovering from long term illness. Been with out a job for a very long time. I had choose drones to get my life back. Now I see there is going to be an issue, with what I want to do, to get my life back. Not happy about this at all.

I'll probably be arrested for suggesting this, but emails, phone calls and texts to local representatives isn't going to be effective. As someone already commented, they got back a copy and psate response. There needs to be a demonstration, where on a set organized day, every dji drone in the country needs to be launched at exactly the same hour, just up vertical and left to just hover at 399ft AGL. Leave them there until batteries are going flat. Then land them safely. Before so every local TV station needs to be tipped this demonstration is going to occur and why it's occurring. Because it would be nationwide, the news will definitely be broadcast and of course the local news journalists will be out there interviewing the pilots and asking why they doing this. You want this info in front of government, this is the way to do it! You have more then 1 drone, get Granny, Grandpa anyone competent to operate them. This shit is serious folks.
It seems that we continue to have more and more freedoms stripped away. I do like this idea for our side of things, on the other side of things people who are not educated on drones I feel this would spread too much fear and would ultimately paint drones out to be more negative than they already are but your right we need something extreme to help state how serious we all take this. I digress.

As an FPV enthusiast, I never really saw DJI as a necessary part of our community (besides DJI Air Units, which I don't even use). I feel like DJI is definitely a monopoly and their power does hamper other companies from risking an investment to innovate and compete. Their prices are very high and sometimes not a good value. Then, I'm tired of the average consumer buying DJI drones and flying in irresponsable ways which ruin it for the FPV community.
My honest question: how is this detrimental to the FPV hobby?
So the ban includes DJI among every other Chinese drone company as well. If this ban goes through it will be for Chinese parts as well for drones so this would make fpv vulnerable to the parts scarcity.
