Oh my god, I always forget how insanely detailed and accurate the interior noises are in the first DR compared to 2. That straight-cut sequential whine... 😍
Nils Nyberg lmao, the first time you crash in VR is definitely eye opening haha. You definitely approach driving MUCH more realistically when your brain is whispering to you 'don't hit that wall, it will hurt' hahaha
is that you know I have an integrated graphics less than 1gb,4gb ram,,,it's too hard to play and struggles the laging and I've ever touch these consoles and not even played ps3 and still pc gam3r ,,,,,,,so you were sooooo lucky
I don't give a fuck if the steering doesn't move with the seat, this setup is just inches behind probably what an actual rally race would feel like. Sweet skills too man.
Isn't there a disconnect with that wheel not moving at all? The stick is all over the place, but the wheel is always comfortably floating in midair with no feedback. The chair shaking kinda pulls and pushes you away from the wheel too. That would get uncomfortable so quickly.
I see everyone has mentioned the wheel not moving with the seat, but I'll also throw in that you should belt in to the seat. Your upper body isn't moving with the seat back sometimes. In a race car you're cinched in tight, mostly limited to head and neck movement which is sometimes restricted further by HANS type devices and/or full containment seats.
Agree 100%. And 100% sorted! th-cam.com/video/EvHGgU-ITBA/w-d-xo.html Since making this first video I have added a 4 point harness. It has definitely improved the immersion. Now if I could just find a helmet that would fit over the Vive.......lol. Thanks for watching!
when i play dirt rally my car just slides all over the place when this guy does it he hits jumps and flies through the air and lands perfect and just keeps on goin.
For that kind of limited-motion setup it actually shouldn't. Think about jumping on the breaks from speed, the stationary wheel would actually help with the immersion, giving you the feeling of the G forces trying to throw you into the windscreen. Same thing in corners etc.
The most realistic thing is you moving and nothing else. Reason being that in a car in real life the steering wheel never moves but you do which is exactly what happens with this. It simulates you being thrown around in the car in other words. The only negative thing is that the gear and handbrakes are moving with the seat which they shouldn´t
+Ryan Rosenberg .. The seat and the steering wheel are connected to the same car ... if the seat is moving.. the steering wheel should be moving too. The wheel isn't moving around the car but the whole car itself is moving with the steering wheel inside it..
MarkDemand Official everything in a car is stationary and never ever moves up and down side to side or in and out. In a full motion sim the seat is stationary too which it should be unless it's loose in the car. If everything moves in a sim like this except the seat you're sitting in then that's not even close to being realistic. If it should be as realistic as possible then everything moves relative to you or in a budget scenario the seat moves you around and everything stays stationary which would still maintain the realism.
Everything in a car is stationary? Are you trolling or what? I think what you mean is nothing moves up and down, side to side or in and out relevant to everything else in the car. Therefore, if the steering wheel is 1metre away from the drivers seat, it will ALWAYS be 1metre away form the drivers seat... so if the seat is moving, the wheel needs to move. Your seat doesn't move loose in the car on its own does it? Literally everything on a SIM should be moving... including the screen.
PizzaChet I assure you between the VR headset and the seat moving, your mind will convince it self that the wheel is also moving. I went down a few 100 feet in an elevator in VR and it totally felt like I was actually going down. Doesn't take much to trick the brain.
For that kind of limited-motion setup it actually shouldn't. Think about jumping on the breaks from speed, the stationary wheel would actually help with the immersion, giving you the feeling of the G forces trying to throw you into the windscreen. Same thing in corners etc.
Holy shit. The way it's meant to be played, for sure. Just wow, nice driving too. All I can nit pick is I'd wish the camera would be a bit more forward and that I bet is adjustable anyway.
TheGuyWithAScythe The view position is a by product of the way I captured the video from the Vive. Later vids are corrected. Thanks for watching and your positive comments!
it seems like you see A LOT of the roof and sit really far back in the car. Does it feel the same way in VR? How do the other views feel like, e. g. the one where you see only the hood.
Definitely doesn't feel that way when viewing it in VR. I only use in car view so can't comment on the hood view. When I set my view point I just adjust it forward and back until the wheel is in my view as if it's in my hands physically. Unfortunately VR doesn't transfer to a normal 2D image well enough to give it the justice it deserves.
If he figures out a way for that wheel to be anchored to his seat so that it would be in sync with the motion, then that would be more awesome instead of the wheel just stationary on his desk (even with FFB). I think that type of rig can be done and would offer a more fantastic experience. .
This looks fking awesome you lucky lucky bastard lol. Love that setup dude and just right now when and put an order in for a thrustmaster t300 t3pa pedals and f1 steering wheel plus an alcantara wheel, no th8a shifters though till the 26th. My question to you would be, where should I buy dirt rally for my vive? Oculus and use revive or stream store? Will I be able to do reprojection with the game from the oculus store or need to go through steam? Cant fukin wait to play this and then later get a motion sim like yours, thanks for uploading!!!!!!!
Not 100% sure sorry mate. I am running the original version from Steam using revive as they haven't yet implemented vive support. Much to my disappointment.
The steering wheel must wobble too. If in real life my car seat wobbles that way while the steering wheel stays stable i'd fear the car falls apart every moment.
why is everyone complaining about the steering wheel like if they have a set up thats nearly as good as yours? these guys probably play on a stock console
I recently picked up a PSVR, and playing Dirt Rally with VR takes some getting used to. The default mode is to not alter the viewpoint when the car pitches, but it will turn with the car. I mean it looks great fun... and even with SimVibe, Any texture/motion in VR bridges a large gap between what your seeing and should be feeling. I have the same Rig myself, do you think at the end of the day it was worth buying the motion rig for the Pagnian kit?
- Hazza - depends on a suspension and you usually don't go that fast on the real road so you aren't noticing bumps that well, if your just plowing through the street like that it surely is like that

This is why VR should have been pushed as an Arcade experience, this is really the only way to experience VR, and it's hella expensive to get for just one type of game, rather than spending 20 bucks on a Saturday to play this at a location with a bunch of other people against a bunch of other people...

I think it would be inferior in some respects, but a seat mover would be cheaper and i imagine the feeling of Gs would be more exaggerated
probablyneverusethis mm
probablyneverusethis I wonder if this setup will work with PS4 pro with psvr?
probablyneverusethis 9
Damn. If I had that setup I would never leave that room!
Hookup some plumbing and you never leave the seat. Lol.
nimay13 lol
xDLXSFx haha Yeah me too
I don't leave my room anyways.
NickN2 I just have a controller..
i need someone to shake my chair like this when playing.
Symon McFloat ahahhhha
Symon McFloat 😂
😂if u have siblings 😂
Wtf hahah
Lol underrated comment
this setup is absolutely insane, and the speed sensation, man...
This is virtually, and physically realistic. I'm jealous to death.
That setup probably cost more than my car lol! Looks like fun.
DarkHorizons lol that setup cost him 10k including the PC
Sarcastic Fuck damn... It is really more expensive than my car
z4520ft yea you'd be better off playing with a controller lol
yeah but you cant do this kind of shit with your car.
bloodcorer yes you can.
Oh my god, I always forget how insanely detailed and accurate the interior noises are in the first DR compared to 2. That straight-cut sequential whine... 😍
Around 10G including the PC.
probablyneverusethis what's your pc specs?
10000 what? $, Eur, Pounds?!
Sorry Deyan. AUD. Have answered that question a few times in the comments and was just getting lazy!
thanks! I didn't see the other answers, otherwise I wouldn't ask ;)
For that money you can actualy build a relly god racing car :)
Feeling is believing ! Much like VR itself videos do these things no justice. I love where we are headed with VR and motion tech.
Thanks for watching!
After watching this video, makes playing this game with Xbox controller and monitor so lame...
even just with an G25 it's so amazing :) (only around 150EUR and has the sequential gearbox unlike the G27)
Dani M I have G27 and it has sequential gearbox. It also has more buttons on the wheel unlike G25
Adam Vulture then you have a g25 stickshift :) yes more buttons, but an awkward position at the wheel from my pov, and its more expensive :)
Dani M Well its overall better and newer wheel and i got it for like 130€ so i dont mind
the g25 27 and 29 are all ancient
by farrr the greatest rig setup of 2017
Awesome setup!
wow amsstudio come
This is the first racing video that actually gave me chills... and I don't even have a headset on. sheesh!
Boom Hauer Thanks for watching!
crashing would.scare the crap out of me
Nils Nyberg lmao, the first time you crash in VR is definitely eye opening haha. You definitely approach driving MUCH more realistically when your brain is whispering to you 'don't hit that wall, it will hurt' hahaha
crashing will probably kill u the chairs already moving enough

it weird that this video is not click bait. ...
Hamdan Alharbi Non cancerous youtubers still exist
Just put every youtuber below 10k subs after that everyone becomes an asshole
Why would this video be clickbait?
But not surprising that your post is garage.
I don't give a fuck if the steering doesn't move with the seat, this setup is just inches behind probably what an actual rally race would feel like. Sweet skills too man.
Cheers mate! Thanks for watching.
My god man... how many hours of practice much have gone into this. It's pretty spectaculair to see. Kudos to you good sir.
Cheers and thanks for watching!
LOL Awesome. Talk about "Getting into it."
And that chair is awesome.
And I thought I was rocking with my Vive, and my "Xbox Air wheel." Lol ;)

Agree 100%. And 100% sorted!

Since making this first video I have added a 4 point harness. It has definitely improved the immersion. Now if I could just find a helmet that would fit over the Vive.......lol.
Thanks for watching!
You need a hand me down helmet, a rotary tool, a glue gun and some free time, my man!
Ok the chair and the shifter and handbrake are moving, But the wheel itself isnt moving.
I'm sure he's using the wheel's ffb.
Its to simulate the body moving not everything else.
my eyes can't keep up u got mad skill.
XOTIC -BOX BOY Thanks for watching!
when i play dirt rally my car just slides all over the place when this guy does it he hits jumps and flies through the air and lands perfect and just keeps on goin.
Jonathan Lavigne It just takes some practice. You need to develop a different driving style compared to circuit racing.
Sven Zwaan There isn't anything "just" after I saw this video.
Klefky yeah, it takes quite some time. I've got over 100 hours into the game and I'm not as good as this guy yet.
On a side note, the ridiculous FOV makes it look like he's running wayyyy faster than he actually is.
if you have this setup that you will feel the road, you'd play better too. I got too used to wheels and I suck using controller.
Wow that was super intense. Like sitting in a real rally car.
I think that the wheel should move along with seat.
I love this game in VR it is so good. I bet with the seat it would make it feel very realistic.
Stew I'm not gonna lie........it's awesome!
Thanks for watching!
the steering wheel should also move with the seat.

Luisk 10k
Kei Synester 10k AUD
If you don't do stupid things it shouldn't exceed around £1500, when only counting peripherals.

That looks AWESOME.
Super Jeepin Thanks for watching!

Gforcefactory 6 dof simulator is aroung 6,000 euro. its much better and bargain for 6 actuator movement.
What's the point, You can buy a real car for that money.
Holly smokes! That looks very cool!
Glenn Van Hoecke Thanks for watching!
incredible. just steering wheel not move... good project ! congratulation !
Its on sale now, and I tried it yesterday. Damn! you are a good driver. I couldn't even finish a lap.

why is everyone complaining about the steering wheel like if they have a set up thats nearly as good as yours? these guys probably play on a stock console
Great setup! Loving the videos as well. Keep them up :-)
that's insane. where did you get the shifter and handbrake?
Fanatec.
THIS IS LIKE THE COOLEST THING EVER
Gotta know whether real rally car drivers laugh their asses off at this or actually appreciates it
They probably do appreciate this because they use very similar systems to practise
That's my dream... :D
Nice video dude!
Roland Csicsák Thanks for watching!
Insane!! :D Yeah!!
I recently picked up a PSVR, and playing Dirt Rally with VR takes some getting used to. The default mode is to not alter the viewpoint when the car pitches, but it will turn with the car. So you have to look up when going up a hill, and down when you're going down a hill. There is an option to lock the viewpoint in the direction of the car, but that's awful because it's jarring to have to have the visual orientation of the road change so erratically with every bump and collision. I'd love a happy balance with an elastic viewpoint that responds to full changes in orientation without being so absolutely jarring. In the meantime, I'm trying to get used to the default VR mode, but it's a trial.
Steering wheel and seat not attached to each other? Wtf
If the wheel was also attached to the chair I think the immersion would be even greater. Having that stationary probably breaks the illusion a little bit.
Thanks for watching!
I could do without the shaky seat, though the vr looks pretty sweet
Is there a way you could fit a 4 or 5 point harness to the seat. That might make it feel even more realistic.
How much cost the build ?
Антон Злобин Around 10.000 dollars (€9.100)
WTF SERIUSLY????? my god...
DanyGamer303 including the pc.
Антон Злобин
you could buy a starter rally car for that and do it, but not minding the damage repairs though hahah
It's amazing how much it seems to mess with his head when in a right hand drive car and having the shifter still on the right side.
Is it me or the seat motions is just random?
I was watching that too. Looking for the relationship between the expected G-Forces and lean... it doesn't 'seem' right... I wonder how it translates in the VR though... you may not know?
tormen76 I think this is where 6dof really stands out where you get vertical surge independent of the lateral G motion
hamzterix You can see his seat jolting when he switches gears.
hamzterix not random but far from perfect. problem is the range of motion. once you go left, you have to go right before you go left again unlike a real car.
I mean it looks great fun... and even with SimVibe, Any texture/motion in VR bridges a large gap between what your seeing and should be feeling.
I have the same Rig myself, do you think at the end of the day it was worth buying the motion rig for the Pagnian kit?
Gaming at its finest. I really wanna try that.
We need to create a chair that slams your face against the steering wheel when you crash to get more realism
VR will only get better. More immersive. People will escape to the world of VR.
Dude :D i want that tooo can you make a video of your gear?
Sure thing! Won't be until the new year though sorry.
probablyneverusethis i think i dont have the money yet anyway
th-cam.com/video/EvHGgU-ITBA/w-d-xo.html
Ty already saw it via notification
MAN this is awesome - i LOVE your setup - i think i come 2nd on this one lol
ever need a spotter lmk :D
Thanks for watching!
Why is the movement so vigorous on a paved road? It not like that irl when on normal roads.
- Hazza - depends on a suspension and you usually don't go that fast on the real road so you aren't noticing bumps that well, if your just plowing through the street like that it surely is like that
- Hazza - you've never been in a car with brutally stiff suspension.
+Tommy Thompson rally cars have soft suspension, i realise it would be stiffer for a paved race but still it looks over the top
In real life you aren't going 170kph
- Hazza - i can safely say, that from years of driving on back roads in the country that the suspension does indeed react heavily even with softer due to the sheer speed you are going.
Équipement de folie !👍👌
esto si es ser un gamer nivel Dios :v
The wheel and pedal set should move with the seat as well. Looks like it would feel a bit sketchy the way it is. Awesome setup though
Crashing in this sort of setup must be terrifying
JotaPe679 probably worth the money
Great set up buddy!
Thanks for watching!
it'd be cool if the steering wheel was attached to the whole motion system too
dude that was so badass
Pheel Macababe Thanks for watching!
I need one of this... So f*cking nice!!! Where i can buy one?
Impressive give this technology 5 more years
This is why VR should have been pushed as an Arcade experience, this is really the only way to experience VR, and it's hella expensive to get for just one type of game, rather than spending 20 bucks on a Saturday to play this at a location with a bunch of other people against a bunch of other people...
respect bro that's some serious gear
Looks cool ! But isn't FOV a little wrong?
What shown on the screen is the output to one eye in the Vive. When you have your face in it, it looks natural.
probablyneverusethis Ahh okay. I hope to try VR Sim racing some day.
VR will be so popular in few years you will probably have you're own someday soon! :D
Yes. I hope The new Xbox Scorpio comes with VR next year. That would be perfect :D
*That's a sick setup!*
