Just did this stage with the Lancia Delta and got 03:49.824 with my Logitech g920 with pedals and H-pattern shifter. This was my first attempt using H-pattern and first time with clutch required (not override). I found that using my right foot to brake before the corner while downshifting then using my left foot to brake around the corner to adjust my line helped a lot because I wasn't spending time off the brakes before entering the corner which means I can brake later. In rally this is called the "pedal dance".

Very cool! I don't play video games but have always been good at racing sims (been sim racing since 1986). I am in my 60's and haven't driven a real car in nearly 30 years. The one time I ever entered a racing sim contest it was set up on an actual retired Jeff Gordon #24 NASCAR car, with forced feedback on the steering wheel, and the whole car tilted on the banked corners. Several thousand people entered the contest, many of them were professional racecar drivers. We all did 1 qualifying lap on Talladega Superspeedway, I qualified 14th. Then we did 3 laps and kept our fastest lap time. I finished 9th and got a small trophy. Many spun the car or hit the wall. I am pretty small and the seat was so far back I couldn't press the gas pedal all the way down. That turned out to be an advantage; I couldn't give it enough gas to make the car spin out :>

SimRacingGirl So I wish I had a VR headset that’s fully VR compatible for racing games on XBOXONE. Unfortunately there isn’t. Although, I was finally inspired to get a racing rig with seat, wheel, pedals including clutch pedal, and shifter. The only thing I don’t have because I cannot have since it’s not compatible with XBOXONE are the VR headset and the e-brake hand brake. I’ve seen people do DIY modded versions of it but it goes into taking things apart and breaking warranty on my equipment I just bought so I will not take a chance yet until warranty is over. I’m a pretty good driver on the road but I’d like to get better especially through simulation. I do understand that this is still a simulation but I’ve seen it help many other drivers. I e never driven manual before on a wheel in a real vehicle or a video game but I will be willing to learn once all of my equipment arrives. My question is do you have any tips for a beginner like myself? And are there communities for sim racers like us that you’re a part of?

I ran a time of 3:45:007 using a Lancia Delta (my handle is aBoot). I used a g27 wheel with a manual sequential transmission (I find it hard to use the e-brake without a designated handle). I find it difficult to fathom how you ran such a fast time without any left-foot braking. That's very good throttle control on your part. Left-foot braking is used commonly while rallying in order to apply more of the vehicle's weight onto the front axle which encourages the vehicle to turn in and makes the back-end of the vehicle step out so one can easily (and consistently) navigate corners. The more weight applied downwards onto the front axle, the better the grip as the tires are pushed into the gravel. My vehicle setup used stock suspension with a slightly shorter gear ratio, stronger rear diff setting and a significant rear brake bias. The rear brake bias also encourages the vehicle to rotate as the rear brakes are slowing at a faster rate than the wheels on the front axle. This has a similar sensation as pulling the e-brake, although it is less dramatic as locking the rear wheels. Both the use of rear brake bias and left-foot braking encourages an AWD vehicle to oversteer rather than understeer which really encourages faster times around corners and enables more time to accelerate rather than struggle while cornering. This comment is so far behind the release of this video it is actually hilarious. I hope that someone finds this comment helpful! GG!
