You have to put in consideration how this particular run wasn't even 100% perfect, plus this is probably his first time on the sim with probably no modifications to the setup, yet he tops the leaderboard so casually with a few seconds to spare too

Far too many TH-camrs overdo their intros, making them overly long, obnoxious, and pointless. it's not that complicated. i had never heard pacenotes in my language before playing dirt rally, and it took me 3~ races to figure everything out. if it was in english i'd have it down form the get go, because i'm more used to that. after all, you don't have to read it to understand it. thankfully. not that it's that hard to learn the "code" either.
Not even remotely close, he made a lot of minor mistakes and was a bit too flashy. This was probably just a casual run for him however, and I'm sure he's well aware of exactly where to go faster, how to go faster and roughly how much time he could shave off.
+Captain Bacon he can certainly at least get close. Back in November when he had a friendly rivalry going with another rally driver he got down to around 2:58, I think the fastest (or at least fastest non-blatantly cheaty) time is somewhere around 2:56.

Knew when to handbrake, how much to turn the wheel, what gear to be in, appropriate throttle/braking - just highly impressive skills. Somehow, you have the ability to see far down the road. @Runok 785 It's not really more realistic than this, he has the same ability to look to the sides that you have in VR, other than that VR doesn't have anything over this setup because you're closed inside a car.
M4XC4V413R4 you're forgetting that VR not only has an even wider field of view than this setup, but that you also get all-important depth perception which I imagine could help a lot.
anonymousgamer depends on the vr. Most only have 110° fov, which would be less than this. But some headsets (pimax fir example) have 200° fov, which is damn near the human limit

This guy can: switch gears and press the clutch exactly when he needs to, use his break and lower gear as advantage to better cut corners, drive fast speeds and still respect the terrain, on top of all of that he has to listen to his engines, listen to the co-driver and take in every single information which is thrown at him without mistake... He is balancing 7+ tasks in his head, let that sink in.. Nothing is impossible people, hard work and diligence creates prosperity, our mind is intricate.
Austin White I haven't played this one, but I played Dirt 1 and Dirt 3. Plus in Forza 3 did world record once. Not really impressed by his skills. Well he corrects his driving fast. He's a good driver, but not really that impressive.
Dirt Rally is way harder than those games lol.. In dirt 3 i could shit on the AI with difficulty set on hard but on Dirt Rally i can't even finish a run without crashing with difficulty set on easy ;) That makes this guy amazing.

Austin White I haven't played this one, but I played Dirt 1 and Dirt 3. Plus in Forza 3 did world record once. Not really impressed by his skills. Well he corrects his driving fast. He's a good driver, but not really that impressive.
Dirt Rally is way harder than those games lol.. In dirt 3 i could shit on the AI with difficulty set on hard but on Dirt Rally i can't even finish a run without crashing with difficulty set on easy ;)
That makes this guy amazing.
I think Rally Car racing is arguably the most insane sport in the world.

"feedback in completely different. it's missing most of the feel for the car and also the G forces, so you have to rely on sight almost exclusively. You have to re-learn to drive without the all the feedback you car gives and do a lot of guessing. But it's fun."

+MatrixTime69 I just got it the other day, still need to work on my g27 settings but its pretty awesome.. I have over 11 hours racing the Al, have not won a stage yet.. got with in .150 one race but that's it, mostly 20+ seconds behind.... still very fun though.
+MatrixTime69 for a race driver it doesn't. the car behaves realistically but you don't get tossed around, can't feel the forces on your body and have way different feedback through the wheel. also de pedals have no feedback at all.

Mr_NarwhaL The guy who recorded this commented on a jalopnik article saying that he(the driver) thought that the awd cars felt spot on in gravel but that the rwd cars felt off.
He said right at the beginning quite clearly "it's ridiculous" and that and worse is what these silly arcade games are, unrealistic beyond belief. But you would know that if you ever drove a real car.
