Its a shame that we give billions of dollars in overseas aid and we have people here who need a hand up and not a hand out and our govt CHOOSES to send many elsewhere.
And yet, there’s still plenty leftover. If we took just 2% of our military budget, every homeless person could be housed.
Or maybe if the homeless people would just get jobs. Stop donating countries that export more women than grain. Close the border to keep out murderers and criminals and create more jobs for americans.
@@sunshine3914The homeless would just tear apart. Anything you gave them. That's been proven over and over. Please read the facts. They don't want help. They just want to take take take take.
Anyone ever notice that people who say this are the same people who call any social program we try to implement that would help the poor a socialist plot to destroy america?
Our government chooses to give tax breaks to profitable corporations.

This video touched a nerve. I hope my story can serve as HOPE for you. Roughly in 1983 I became homeless after both my parents died. Father in high school in 1978 and mother in 1982. Another factor was a hard Drug habit (heroin) that started in 1972. I lived with my dog in an abandoned house in Ronkonkoma NY and my neighbor gave me an electrical cord hook-up because they felt sorry for me and I used to do work for them (which they never really needed). I showered (or bathed) at the local lake in the summers and every few days at a YMCA that I bought a $5 day day pass in the winters. I siphoned fuel oil from the laundromat underground tank when I did my laundry through a hole in my uninsured-unregistered car in the trunk to get fuel for my heater. I stole the expired yogurts and milk from the back of the supermarkets they would return and stole the crushed aluminum cans on he loading dock that came out of the recycle machines and sell them at the scrap yard. I realized my situation could go 2 ways, death or slavery to the government system or sobriety with freedom. I opted for the second. It was hard but I placed myself in a 21 day detox program and then eventually got on a long term program. The thing was, I set a end date goal for myself to get off and be independent. I constantly reduced my methadone dose. I lived with my dog also, and ate mostly rice and wonton soup, and those stolen yogurts but I always made sure I went shopping on Fridays and bought a steak or shrimp to eat with money I earned. I was buying those 25 cents cans of dog food all week for the dog, but on Friday's she got ALPO chunky beef as well. This simple statement enabled myself to know that things could and would be better, but it was something that only I could control. In 1992 I had completely left all drug programs and was independent and self sufficient to where I could sustain a small apartment and take care of myself. In the ensuing years I found a nitch and was able to build a civilian career, and also went into the Military. Now I am months away from retirement with adequate savings, a primary small home and a vacation home in Puerto Rico. During this time of normalization, I always tried to help those around me that needed guidance. I realize its much harder now to get back on your feet, and in all honesty I'm not sure I would have the success I did in todays world. But one thing doesn't change, never loose hope of normalcy, make a plan, set goals and if you can once a week or perhaps once a month do something for yourselves that is a normal activity for a non-homeless person. Mine was shrimp/steak& chunky ALPO for my dog. Don't fall prey to the government. They want you as a slave. Only accept the bare minimum you need from them to survive, then replace it with self sufficiency. Don't trade slavery to a drug habit if that's part of your situation to slavery to the government. God made us free men and woman, he can help you find a path to achieve this once again even when we occasionally fall of the path. He's not going to drop a bag of money for you to work your way out, but He'll provide you the intellectual guidance to figure it out. Good luck>
This breaks my heart. I'm so sorry for what you all are going through right now. And grateful beyond measure for my father. He took me in when I lost my home during the Covid quarantine. I was so dissociated during that time I had made no plans for what to do after the foreclosure. Today, my town and the larger town next to us have reaped many financial benefits from that terrible little blip in the world's history. Many businesses and improvements to the infrastructure. But, a stark reminder of how cold and sometimes heartless people became is the obvious growing homeless population. I'd say there has been at least a 300% rise in our homeless population in the past few years. They are everywhere and a person can never have enough supplies in their vehicle or wherever, on hand to help when we can. It's so sad. This morning, very early, I was at my storage garage. As I pulled into the building there was a man with his grocery cart trying to find a way into the building. As I reached my unit I could hear people elsewhere lifting doors and shuffling up and down the walkways. My truck was the only one in the garage and there had been no vehicles in the parking lot. And this isn't even the first storage facility I've rented from where homeless people have had to try to make their home. Our mayor tears down historic buildings regularly to make way for shiny new ones without a second thought as to how many people would be thrilled to benefit from one of these gorgeous, solid landmarks. I don't understand how we got so far removed from taking care of people and their basic needs. Your father? I bet it crushes you to see him in his last years not able to have his own home and those comforts. That stability and safety. I pray that human beings find their way back to being human and we figure this out. When MegaChurches start building MegaShelters and Mega FoodCo-ops for those that need them it'll be a start. All my love and prayers go out to you.
God bless you and thank you for sharing your story 🙏

Pacific Garden Mission in Chicago will help them. They will have to leave everything and just take themselves. Everything is provided free of charge food, medical and dental care. They have detox programs and help with job placement and housing with the person is ready to go back out on their own. They are a Christian Mission- NO government affiliation or funds do they take. This Mission has been solely operated on donations for the last 147 years. It's an incredible place. It's a place I financially support. You can find their TH-cam channel. The place is wonderful. You took what you could use and made a home. Myself took a rundown travel trailer and turned it into a tiny house. Still a work in progress. I admire your strength to survive, overcome and adapt. 😊
Just organizing that space and using more of the vertical space would go a long way. I’m not bashing anyone and I’m sure that “spring cleaning” is the last thing anyone in this type of situation would want to spend valuable time and energy on, but just some thoughts…
-Make a platform over the dogs bed for another (human) bed. Maybe use the mini fridges and some scrap boards?
-scoot everything that must be on the floor to the walls, hang other lighter weight stuff as high as possible
-keep the bikes chained up outside, maybe covered by a tarp. Pass the chain through the wheels to avoid theft.
-pack things away that are rarely used and move them to the least trafficked part of the shelter.
I’m just imagining how much less cluttered the mind is when it doesn’t have the visual cues of something disheveled.
Again, I’m not hatin. The stuff I proposed is free, I don’t want to seem insensitive to the lack of money.
We've tried making me a bed up high, but I get stuffed up if I get too warm, and it's going on summer now. And we do use as much vertical space that we can. This cage structure is held together with twisties and bungees, so it's not that strong. Thanks for the ideas though, you didn't offend me.
Very constructive suggestions, I hope she experiences the peace and relief some free decluttering and organisation can give.
Wake up America. America first!

Guessing you call yourself Christian ? You realize the entirety of the Bible teaches you to do more for others than for yourself , including immigrants . By helping other countries our government falls on the right side , which gets returns when we need help . It all works together and for it to work it needs to be run without selfishness . Only thinking of yourself will get you nowhere
And , if you want to see a change , be the change , why aren't you out helping the homeless ? Or starting a homeless charity ? You just expect someone else to fix it so you hold no responsibility for it ? You realize everything that happens in this country is the responsibility of every citizen. And you are free to make the change you want to see , yourself , but you are going to have to work for it , lot harder than complaining to politicians I would guess . All the people in the United States and most would rather complain that the politicians aren't doing anything to help the homeless here or hungry ect and yet none will lift a finger to do anything to help them themselves . People are so hyper focused on buying the most frivolous things and of course I can be guilty of this too but in my older age have gotten INFINITELY better at my outrageous wasteful spending. I enjoy toys sure, but I'll buy a toy thats going to last me years like this gaming pc I built for $1,000 seems like quite a bit of money but I've already had it for a year and it'll probably last me at least a few more years. 80% of my job is on this computer, I also use it for entertainment center to watch movies, I use it to play games myself. Seems like a great investment, meanwhile my friend will go buy $800 pair of TENNIS shoes from a high end fashion store wear them like 10 times and never touch them again, of course I've spent my money wiser. I'm thinking long term, as long as I am happy day to day and have everything I want then it's all gravy. I don't need to buy things every day to fill some tiny weird void in my life, I'm thinking about those days when I am like 60 and really don't feel like going to work, and my hip hurts and I'm just in a grumpy mood, well thank god I didn't blow all my money on dumb things because I can picture it now watching an old classic favorite movie of mine on a rainy tuesday morning knowing all of you are still grinding while I'm sipping on my cannabutter infused tea. Some of the other local homeless people; I try to help out where I can.
I'm physically disabled so I also need to be wise about who I approach on the streets, but it breaks my heart.
Also for some of the others commenting they're not all on drugs, alcoholics or mentally ill but even the ones who are deserve compassion and at the vary least prayer 🙏
God bless u & your Dad 💞
Thank you for caring, and thanks for the prayers also. God bless you too! ❤

Its crazy to think how as a kid viewing everything through a lens of blissful inorange this would have been a really badass clubhouse, and as an adult its just an unfortunate reality of what we have to do sometimes. Just makes you wish you could go back to that time where there wasnt a worry in the world.
You have your Dad and dogs 🐕 and a roof over your head you just have to keep pushing ahead don't give up. ❤best wishes and prayers for you 😊God bless Jesus 👑 is king of kings Amen

Seeing videos like this make you respect what you have compared to what others have in life . High respect ...
A friend of mine was homless and got her kids taken away. It took a long time but she got her G.E.D. and through different programs that 211 found she finally got one of her kids back and an apartment.
2 Corinthians 4:4,,Daniel 2:44,,,Revelation 21:3 and 4,,,,your way ahead of people on survival techniques ,,,good job and take care
I'll check into those scriptures. Thanks. And thank you for the compliment. God bless! 💗

Your innovation and perseverance is commendable! Many will be inspired by this video to also seek alternate forms of housing. Thank you for sharing!
I never would have thought to cover fencing with a tarp to make a wall that’s a genius idea
I agree but they deserve even more credit to come
You guys make the best of what you have, I wish you the best ❤
Your going to make it your very resourceful I’m amazed at your set up you go girl hope things start heading up for you ❤
i spent the majority of my youth and most of my adult life homeless or housing insecure. its a hard life. a lot of folks dont really understand that life for working class folks has been on a steady decline sinse the 80s. most of the folks judging and telling folks to " pull yourself up by your boots straps" dont know how hard it is when you aint got no boots and woukld not survive a week out there. stay strong and always remember to take care of those who have less than you, you know rich folks wont.
Very correct!
Love your name
you are a very loving doggie mom!!! lots of #love from kathy in alaska
This is definitely by choice! Be thankful you have power, air , food, clothes, and bedding. I survived 3 years living without any of these options. But by the grace of God, I found a job and went back to school to better myself and my kids so we would never have to worry about where we would sleep, eat, or shower. Stay positive and WORK HARD IT WILL COME
This is not by choice, how dare you make that assumption about us!
When there are choices to make things better, but one refuses to make better choices, then yes it is a choice.
@@neverettebrakensiek8771 And sometimes there aren't any choices when you're poor as fuck and can't afford anything new.
@@archangelauriel007 If someone came and offered you a home to live in, say 300 a month with 2 bedrooms for you and dad, gave you a dependable car and pd the utilities for you, ensuring a clean healthy safe environment for you both, would you say yes ?
@@neverettebrakensiek8771 Yes of course!
You have a space, that's a blessing.
Yep! I try not to complain, cuz I know some people have even less. But it still sucks to live like this.
God bless you. A house is a house. It's your home. Take care.❤❤❤
Thank you. God bless you too! ❤
I've lived homeless for 5 years until my dad got an apartment you do that better setup than I did I hope you find a home God bless you 🙏
Thanks. God bless you also! 💕
Hello Auriel, thank you for being here, thank you for sharing, its an honor and privilege, your friend, Nighthawk
I think another tarp set up as your kitchen would help your living sitaution alot...move refrigs freezers, cook stove microwave and toaster oven all into it..amazon wish list would be great to get this set up...
Good idea. Maybe we can do that someday if we get enough money to buy more fencing and tarps for that.
@archangelaurie we don't plan on being stuck like this for that much longer to worry about it sweet hear.... Hang in there..l007
This Too shall pass
Ill be living in a situation like that if the government keeps ripping us off every which way. Trump 2024 if we want toilets.
Trump is crooked too, don't fall for the deception!
definitely praying but you are blessed in so many ways I like it I really do it's very creative and it look very cozy
It's not cozy, it's cramped. Lol.
And thank you for the prayers. 🥰
Praying for you and God bless you for your incredible work.
Thank you very much. God bless! ❤
That's the best fort I've ever seen!
Lol
It's obvious that you are doing the best you can, and your space looks great honestly. I am not going to try to compare but life has been particularly hard the last couple of years for myself and my son too - he's physically disabled and lives with me. We went through a period where we had no running water in the kitchen, and the oven quit working and I had one burner functioning. No car for over two years now. We struggle to exist and survive daily. 😞 I'm sure there are many like us, which is tragic. It's just so demoralizing. I think its criminal, frankly, that people live like this in the richest country in the world. Other countries are the recipients of US $$ while we struggle and starve. Sigh.
Anyway, prayers for you and yours. Life is so very difficult right now we need to hold others up in prayer and do whatever we can to help our fellow humans whenever we can.
Sending love.❤❤❤❤❤
Aww, I'm so sorry to hear that. You're right, and I'll be praying for you and your family also! Thank you so much, and God bless! 💕
I hope things turn around for you , I can tell you are a great person at heart by the simple fact the dog had a better bed then you hang in there it can only get better
