I bought that DVD, and it's just solid gold. Words can't really describe it. If I were just a few years older, like 8-10, I could have seen them. At least I got to see him sing for Tony in 1992, front row.

This song was written by Ritchie Blackmore and David Coverdale. Here's what Coverdale said about it:
"We recorded "Mistreated" from 11pm to 7:30 in the morning. I heard the first playbacks and thought it was terrible. It was so bad I just sat down and cried because I wanted it to be so good. Then the next night we had another session and I did it on the second take. It's like progressive blues. I wasn't raised in a shack by the railroad tracks but I've still had emotional hassles and that's the only kind of blues I can interpret. I tried very hard because I knew it was essential to get the strong emotive quality the song needs. The thing I wanted was for somebody listening to the song to think: 'I know what he's talking about' and get the feeling, then the song would be worth it. It's essentially a physical feeling. The reason it didn't come off straight away was simply that I was trying too hard."

@@szalonywariat7521 Ronnie James Dio and lyrical singers like Franco Corelli, Del Monaco and Caruso are the most virtuous and naturally talented singers I have ever heard, within my understanding of vocal physiology, I do not know of any singer who had an extreme level of mastery of the muscular mechanism and the vocal manipulation capacity as consistent live as these singers and especially Dio who stands out a lot in this context, he sang for more than 40 years, most of the time with a perfect command of the modern open throat technique at an extremely advanced level in register chest voice, with a fantastic degree of glottic compression and resistance and he sang without any noticeable muscular tension in his facial expressions and effortlessly for practically his entire career, Dio evolved his vocals dramatically over the years and became increasingly better and better as he got older and gaining even more range, Dio evolved vocally for more than 30 years of pure peak and after his voice aged naturally, he kept his voice at a great level even after he was 60 and without having any technical problems with his voice until the end of his life, compared to the voice problems that many rock and metal singers had due to the instability of the motor coordination of their vocal structures due to excess friction in the voice.

When Richtie hit those syhnt pedals... it sounds like a thunder go through my ear, sharp marshall guitar playing, heavy metal in his roots... from 1974 he used delay, than a tape recorder, also some flanger effect for the song catch the rainbow, and a treble booster, than the famous feedback, so he could use any effect an still go 100% on stage, his feeling and touch in this performance is enorm.
He he was in his absolute prime... spending 3 three days in our prison ( im am from austria), what was really not fair, he only protect a young girl from getting pushed around by a promoter.
So he came in late and the crowd where still there... they rocked the house. Great rainbow line up.

Not long after Cozy Powell's death, Dio's bass player at the time (name elludes) convinced him to to Gates of Babylon on tour, and dedicated it to Cozy Powell. It was Doug Aldridge on guitar, and he did a pretty good job on it, I think doing it justice while not trying to overdo it. But... You can watch Aldridge sweating and really concentrating on it. Haha, no pressure bro, you're just covering an epic Blackmore solo, that's all!
Anyway, it's on TH-cam, definitely worth a watch.

From personal view...the best rockblues song ever performed by a band...long great improvisation from blackmore in middle, classic rock playing on his guitar... bob daisley, david stone and cozy powell backing great singing Ronnie James Dio, he sung vs amazing quality and opera feel. Rainbow in the mid and late 70s were an pure heavy rock/ metal band... doing the best possible music...stargazer, mistreated or catch the rainbow ect. are an evidence of how amazing blackmores ideas and songwriting were.

The background story from this Live Concert was Richie got arrested by police in Austria Vienna after their gig.
So the Crew tried to smuggle him out to Germany
    They failed
So his lawyer i do believe paid the fine and Richie could meet up with His Band in Munich very late
The crowd in the mighty Olympichall in Munich almost left when suddenly the Band started to play
And what a Gig it was
Maybe in my opinion the best live concert I have ever witnessed in my life
