With all due respect to those who say that Bonnet is better, this is by far one of my favorite live performances of the song. And JLT is really rocking it.
The band is to blame here, they shouldn't have up'd the tempo, its almost a backlash to the commercialism that they thought the original would attract and they played under duress. But as time has gone by, this song with Mr Bonnet at the helm stands miles high over this rendition. They virtually right it off, doing the song this injustice....but all respects to DP...they were ground breakers....

Never really liked much JLT. The only Deep Purple studio album I don't have snd never will is Slaves & Masters. Took me ages to accept the idea to even sit down and listen to the Rainbow albums he recorded. He is actually not a bad singer, but NOT made to sing Purple or Rainbow tunes sang by Ronnie or Graham.
The receiving monitor is Entwhistle, so what happened it's still supposed to be Ian, or he's a fired butt Uli- cuz we know, he's not u. Ian is also paid out of Ian, by spec svngs Pete has, as soon as I get my advance chair, idk, Ritchie band, this spec Rainbow, spec by Kathi directive, ok by Ian, n DP rest, already paid-by me-par Ritchie all cash( thx for hospital bill Celeste), per Scorpions close, me. So, Joe help-n, monitor Celeste too? Oh! 35 bux u owe, come on. Pete sold, all alone, we know that, can i Deep Purple charge now, no? How come ccllosee!
Here we go again talking smack about the vocals. Truth be told most couldn't even come close to Joe Lynn Turner. I've seen Graham Bonnet live and he's great. What difference does it really make? Just listen to the music and keep you're sorry mouth shut.

Bob Rondinelli is , for sure , good drummer but Cozy Powell drives ( drove )totally different and ...........better , of course ! i'm really surprised by Joe Lynn Turner : he is very good singer but his performance , here , is ...bbrrrrrrrrrr.. horrible ! totally ugly ! not rock singer , no no no . Graham Bonnet gave totally different sense to this good song . Not always King Blackmore decided right about his musicians :)
The everlasting problem when someones does a cover. Do it as simular as you can or do it your own way. Hard to say. But had to say I didnt like this perfomance.
This is not Lynn Turner song... I mean - he can sing it, but Bonnet was way better. Sorry. Also - I don't like the increased tempo. Not good for this song.
Joe and rainbow were brilliant as we're Ronnie and Graham all very different styles of singing but all did rainbow song justice.
