R.I.P. 1-Jonathan Harris, Dr. Smith. 2-Guy Williams, John Robinson. 3-Mark Goddard, Major Don West. 4-Bob May, The Robot. Still around are June Lockhart, Marta Kristen, Angela Cartwright, Bill Mumy. L.I.S. Grew up on this great Sci-Fi series since the 60s. Purchased all 3:Seasons in 2005 on DVDs. 4 years ago Walmart had a super deal 19.99 for all 3 Seasons with updated Special Features. It was worth it.
I love your tributes to this wonderful show. Great job, Blain! I should mention though, you missed the passing of Bob May who was inside the Robot. Also, it should be mentioned, Robert Kinoshita, the designer of the Robot, (as well as the final draftsman for Robby the Robot in Forbidden Planet), also passed away. He was a bit over 100 years old.
Penny was actually the middle sibling and Will was the youngest. Not a big fan of most Si Fi shows or films but loved this show and the movies made around it.
Thank you for another great vid that brings back memories. Appreciate the informative, smart and entertaining aspect you bring to every vid. Watched this show as a kid and loved it.
Bill Mumy was in a number of shows on tv, not only The Twilight Zone but one made for tv movie where he played a young mathematical genius. He was also pretty good as the character Lennier in the sci-fi series Babylon Five which is another favorite series of mine. As for Jonathan Harris' character Dr. Smith being charming and devious he certainly could be devious but more self-absorbed and opportunistic were his main traits as well as cowardly and inept. I kept waiting for Don to put him in the airlock and release Smith into the vacuum of space because of all the trouble he caused them. But it was one of my favorite sci-fi shows growing up, next to Star Trek and Time Tunnel.
Favorite episodes...sheesh, that's a tough one. A couple that stick out in my mind, when Roby the Robot guest appeared. I remember B9 referring to him as a "robotoid". I love the early episode with that giant cyclops, and the one where the robot becomes gigantic, and they have to go inside of him to fix'm. Hitting up Walmart online today, I'm buying me a B9 for my collection 🙂
Many episodes were great in their own campy way like when Will and Penny are trying to be enitced to go to the groovy Planet Gamma amidst gogo music and lights! But one that cracks up my friend and I most is the one where they just escape the hard labor planet, but the Jupiter 2 is hit by a small rocket that causes some smoke damage inside! Maureen and the girls walk over to the mess and she exclaims "..a good scrubbing ought to take care of that...!* Haha!
Favorite episode was where Will was teleportes back to Earth and couldn't convince anyone who he was and he wasn't able to contact Jupiter Control because in the future "future" long distance calls were too expensive!
@@hydrolito well, that's open to conjecture..... even transistors die, so the robot must have 'died' at some period of time after the show ended, and even after the voice of the robot passed away..... so, where is this 'robot suit' now located?
This was a wonderful show. The writing was great, and the casting was perfect. I always love Dr. Zachary Smith and the interaction between him and the Robot. June Lockhart was so beautiful and a great actress. She also joined the cast of Petticoat Junction after Bea Benadrett died. She played Dr. Janet Craig, and was a wonderful addition to the show. Billy Mumy was a great actor on both Lost in Space and his appearances on The Twilight Zone. Lost in Space was a well done show.
@@FactsVerse I didn't get to see the show when it was first run. I've only seen it in syndication. I seem to remember an episode where Dr. Smith got enlarged and was not able to get inside the spaceship with the rest of the group. If I'm right about that, I'd sure like to know the episode's name and season. If I'm confused, I'd like to know that too.
