I swear, the way you speak in your presentations, I feel like a close friend or relative who’s over, just chatting as we make dinner. Always delicious, always clear and concise. Thank you.
I just made this and it is the Bomb ! The sauce is Amazing. The only thing I would recommend is to make the patties into meatballs, little bigger than a golf ball. Laura said it’s an option. Anyway, the longest part was cooking/reducing mushrooms and onions but be patient. This is in my top ten favorite meals now along with Laura’s broccoli cheddar soup. Family can’t get enough of it. Thank you so much. 🥰
I just made this. I use to use what some know as Bisto gravy maker & realized the type of salt they use isn't the salt I use which is Celtic salt vs commercial industrial salt, very bad for you so I chose to make the rue as in the old days & so glad I chose to do this cause the gravy is as it was when was a kid & the rich flavour wins over any other kind of thickener. Next time I will buy cremini or regular button mushroom for this because I love mushrooms cooked exactly the way you did it. Your Salisbury steak looks so succulent, where do you live I am inviting myself to your table tonight LOL I love your cooking, there is no crazy ingredients & no stupid fussing, your meals are basic wholesome delicious & home cooked as it was in my home when I was a kid & believe it or not, at 60 I am unlearning everything & now cooking the way my family use to. No more crazy diets no more synthetic ingredients. Just simple, wholesome & delicious & satisfying. Thanks for sharing your cooking skills with us.
I just found this video and now have the urge to make this. I haven't had salisbury steak since i was young. I have invited family for Sunday dinner memory.
I also put some onion and bell pepper in the pattie mix.But i use the herb ox that cones 8to a box in the envelopes. Its salt free.that way u can control the salt. I made this last night luv it.ures looks good to .Also bell pepper mushrooms and onion goes in my gravy also .and the other stuff of courseI luv green peas with it too.
"I love Salisbury Steak. I don't make it often. I do not know why." (8:22) I know why! I have a couple of signature dishes that I make only a couple of times a year. Whenever I do, my family literally cheer and rub their hands together in anticipation. Because if I made these recipes every week, they would lose their specialness. The reaction would be, "Oh, good. Quiche again. Thanks, Dad." Which would be fine. That's the reaction I get from my Macaroni and Cheese, for example. But I want the nights I serve my Quiche to be memorable. Even my sons-in-law have learned that Quiche nights are anticipated (but not scheduled) events. My grandchildren are still too young to appreciate the subtle blending of flavors and textures in the Quiche, but they understand the palpable excitement in the air before the meal and that gets them amped up, too. I have been working all my life to make dinner at my house something special.
I made this recipe and it turned out just great as do all of your recipes. I had two of the Salisbury Steaks left over so the next night I chopped them up and used them in a spaghetti sauce! DELICIOUS!
Hi Laura ! you made me be in love with cooking ! I wasn’t much of a cook until I started watching your videos now I’m obsessed cooking new meals everyday , I love to cook it’s my passion now❤️ thank you to you !
Laura, I watched these video 4 times and today I am making it. It’s only myself so I cut the patties recipe in half but not the gravy. Oh my I tasted the mushroom before I added the flour and oh so good. It’s almost ready and my home smells phenomenal. I know that is going to be my new Salisbury steak recipe.
Made this exactly and it was wonderful, as all LITK dishes are! Can’t wait for the crock pot adaptation. I have a chunk of Chuck in the freezer that needs to meet this incredible gravy.
I will let the gravy reduce just a bit before adding the beef back to the pan. Adding meat when the broth hasn’t reduced can make it tough, but looks yummy! Going to make this for sure!
OK i just made the old recipe, and have been having issues getting the sauce as thick as i want. One thing i tried tonight was to get all the stock/mushrooms/onions to a good boil before adding back the steaks, i think that helped. Your simmer time is MUCH longer than on the original recipe and it looks like you undercut the steak cooking time too - and i used 2 lbs. of beef and made my steaks roughly the same thickness too. Next time I will allow for a much longer simmer time, 35 minutes at least. Thanks for the update!
This is almost exactly how I made it from the mash up I made between your video and Ree’s video..lol. Oddly enough, I made this on Monday, and we ate the leftovers on Tuesday too..Yum!! I used 2lbs of hamburger, and made 8 smaller oval patties. I serve mine with mashed potatoes and corn..:) Absolutely delicious!!! :)))
Laura I gave up on the way I say Worcester sauce. I just call it Were, sir, sir, sir, sauce!! Ha! Ha!.Ha! Ha!.Can't wait to try this recipe! But I want to buy a bigger pan than the one I have now. Thanks for sharing another gem!!!!!!!!
My two sister in laws are coming to visit us this week and now I know what I can make. Going to put it over some roasted garlic mashed potatoes. Do you think that you could show us how to put together Italian Pepperonata? I ate it out about a month ago and just wanted to see your take on it because you have never failed me yet with your recipes. Every single one that I have made turned out perfect.
Looks delicious. Great recipe! I am making this for dinner tonight. Can’t find the recipe yet on your web page but will just guess on the amount of spices, etc. and pray it turns out as good as your’s. x
Was looking up a recipe for salisbury steaks and found this.. Really wish you had made the crock pot version for us.. I would like to have made a big batch of this to be frozen for future meals.
"That...is hot", Classic Laura. LOL! Love you, and all your recipes. Cannot wait to make this. You have never steered me wrong. My family thinks I am a gourmet cook thanks to you.
I love every recipe of yours I’ve done! However, my family doesn’t like texture of mushrooms. Any ideas how to get flavor without large mushrooms in it? PS: you are a joy to watch!
I have been making your original Salisbury steak for years now. Although I am pretty sure it’s impossible to beat the recipe 1.0, I can’t wait to try the 2.0 :)
