      Last Beta's I rode were at the 2019 Beta Dealer Show for the all new 2020 models. There was a very slippery short test loop set up in the woods (rained the night before). Here is my quick ride review of the 2020 Beta 300 RE.... th-cam.com/video/u1WfINu1o4o/w-d-xo.html
      I've owned a few Beta 300 Race Editions (last one 2016) so the all new 2020 chassis felt quite different (mostly in a good way). Beta knows how to make a 2-stroke engine run smooth and clean (and I like oil injection). My last Beta was a 2019 200RR - like a mini 300. I would really like to try the 2022 300RR/RE models with the updated engines and latest suspension setting. Wish Beta would put in a bigger engine counter balancer to reduce the vibration level. Local Beta dealer is suppose to get the all new 450RX motocross model but has been delayed a few times so hopefully it shows up this spring and I will get a chance to ride it!

    I love my star cross 5 soft tires on my yz250. They will for sure be going on my 22 CRF 250 when it shows up In March. Also how much oil did you take out of the fork on the crf ?

      I started with 10cc's but that was minimal change so I took another 15cc's out and then I bottomed too much on the moto track. Start at 10cc's and see how it feels. I think once you are past 20cc's it will start to bottom a lot more. Easy way to dial in the forks for free!

    What about the CRF250RX vs the Gas Gas 250EX250F....which one feels more comfortable for single track east coast woods stuff?

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a great question! The '22 CRF250RX is almost identical to the R model except for the better (for me) RX suspension setting (for GNCC style). I find the RX engine to be more "fun to ride" (in Map 3) with little engine braking and a lively responsive low to mid power (which works great on the trails). The muffin top RX fuel tank ruins the perfect ergos of the '22 CRF250R for me but not an issue for many riders. The R/RX aluminum frame can be a bit firm feeling (some riders don't notice). The Gas Gas EX250F feels more "comfy" to me with suspension that absorbs the little trail junk (roots and rocks) better than the RX and the EX250F extra fuel capacity holds the fuel lower on the chassis (better handling) with no ergo penalty (the fuel tank is slim). For comfort off the showroom floor I give the slight edge to the Gas Gas EX250F

      @@mxengineer1 Thanks so much, your videos are excellent and very helpful!! Can I throw one more bike at you? I've also been looking at a 21 or 22 YZ250FX. Have you been on one to compare against the CRF250RX or the EX250F? Im currently on a 21 CRF250F which feels great, but I want to take it up a notch. I don't want to end up on something that feels too stiff and chatter my teeth. Still want a comfortable ride and something nimble in the woods. Any suggestions??

      @@whiskeytango854 If you are coming off a CRF250F any of the "race" focused 250F's will be a fun step up for you. The KYB suspension on the 21/22 YZ250F sets the bar for off the showroom floor forks and shock that can be made to work for such a wide range of rider skills and weights and riding conditions. The 22 YZ250FX will have all the updates from the 21 YZ250F (frame and engine) so if you can swing it that will be the latest and greatest FX. FX models have excellent GNCC style off road suspension settings and a plush ride. The negative on the Yamaha's is the wider shrouds up front (not a big issue and easily adapted to after a few corners). Exhaust is loud on the Yamaha YZ250F's. Yamaha has the free phone app to tune the engine character to your liking. Gas Gas is comfy off the showroom floor too. Go sit on them both and see what you think and if you can get a ride on them. Here is one of my "why do I like this bike so much" '22 YZ250F video reviews...I recently bought this bike from my buddy Dave so will be doing more back to back rides on the '22 YZ250F.... th-cam.com/video/MABTTJcE-8Q/w-d-xo.html

      @@mxengineer1 Thanks! You have me wondering about noise too. Some of my spots cut through residential areas and I like that my crf250F isn't too obnoxious. Is the yz250FX that much louder? Louder than the crf250RX and Gas Gas too?

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@whiskeytango854 The Yamaha's are loud mostly because it makes noise from the intake up front and the exhaust out back...stereo! The Honda is not that much quieter and the Gas Gas is the quietest but again it's a 250F so not exceptionally quiet. I am pretty sure all of your choices are more than capable of upsetting picky neighbors.

    What difference did you notice when you removed some fork oil? I removed @ 35-40ml per leg on my '22 but have yet to test it on track. Feels better when I'm jumping on it in the garage so I'm hopeful.

    • @davidgrunklee8407
      @davidgrunklee8407 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's allot of oil to be removing. These need a revalve

    • @chickentuber
      @chickentuber 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davidgrunklee8407 I first took out @ 20ml but I couldn't feel any difference, so I went big. It may be a lot but I'm still above the min listed in the manual.

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I first took out 10cc's but not much difference to took another 15cc's out for a total of 25cc's per leg. Very little improvement in mid stroke harshness on braking bumps but the forks did start to bottom on hard jump landings. After riding forks with less oil (360cc's) and lighter springs but stock valving...then riding same 0.46 springs with full re-valve by TBT Racing Ohio - the re-valve is necessary and worthwhile.

    Hello there!, thanks for the review….22 gas ex250f or ktm250 xcf? How different are they, and what components make one better over the other. Thank you

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      From 24 model year on both have the latest updated and stiffer/heavier chassis. KTM comes with map switch (which includes traction control), Brembo brakes, painted clutch and mag covers, and more open airbox, Dunlop tires (vs Maxxis)...if those parts are worth it to you get the KTM. If you like red color get the Gas Gas. Performance wise very similar.

      @@mxengineer1 Not sure that I care too much about those options, just happen to find a good deal on a 22 gas, but says it has ktech spring conversion and ktech bladder. 35hr $5500. But without an hour meter how do I know the hours are so…🧐

      @@RC.56 The 22 GG has the previous lighter chassis and slightly different engine (little shorter stroke was introduced on 23 KTM/24 GG). Knowing the history of a used bike is very important. There are some very good discounts on leftover 23 models and even discounts on 24 models so you may want to check those out too.

    what springs does the Gas Gas have? Will this bike work trail riding? 2023 7,000 out the door ??? at my local dealer.

    • @mxengineer1

      Some great deals on Gas Gas models now! This Gas Gas EX250F has and AER fork (air fork) so any spring rate you want. The rear shock comes stock with a 4.2 KG/mm spring which works well for riders up to 185 lbs. This particular EX250F had a 4.8 rear spring (the owner was about 215 lbs with gear). The EX250F was made for trail riding...fun bike!
