That is just a bit sad... Also something about Kaveh being a lightweight and he spilled his beans on his own.
ngl i love that this story quest is all about defining who Alhaitham is by showing us who he isn't. Everyone thinks of him differently, and most of it is not the complete truth. He's blunt, arrogant, and a loner. But he's a very capable person who's strong both mentally and physically. However, he does everything he has done so far because he wasn't willing to give up his life. He had a well paying job, lives with Kaveh (so he at least has some human interaction and NOT be a complete loner), and he even defines his job as the scribe as easy.
everyone thinks of him to be more mysterious than he really is because of what he's capable of, but he never does it because he doesn't care lmao. he was willing to risk everything because he has already settled on this life as it is the most logical way to live ofc
I agree. He may appear to be a mysterious person and he maybe a bit brazen but in reality he just doesn't want problems interfering with his simple life. Despite the continuous drama with him and Kaveh
I just wish for more fascinating characters like him not just bait.

honestly I think Alhaitham is the most normal person out of everyone else in genshin, he's just- so human? and like you can see this guy in real life maybe.
Ikr he's v unique from other characters. He's refreshing!
Same goes for Itto
Not really. AlHaitham is the logical part of your brain. It's easy to find him normal because there are lot of things we can associate with him because his character is one part of your brain, but humans don't just use or express their rational behaviour always. His voicelines are literally my everyday dialogues, but I wouldn't consider myself similar to him because Alhaitham is basically what we can't be in real life. Like if we were anything like him we probably wouldn't be watching this video, or comment or reply. Extremely calculative, successful, and his lack of compassion shows even though I believe it's there. He's like Sheldon from big Bang theory and honestly if Alhaitham looked different or average he wouldn't be simped this hard either. People like him do exist in real life, but they are extremely extremely rare and borderline narcissistic. Though it's all good because he doesn't contradict himself and has great sense of self, though perhaps a bit too much for normal human standards.
Turns out Kaveh is the most relatable person you will encounter in real life. Lets the emotions and past experiences get the better of him, is extremely empathetic.... Though he's also an extreme part of our brain. These two are very interesting as their collective or mixture of these is what most of us humans are.
And Kaveh too
Itto needs a buff
Not in dmg but in abs after alhaithems release
Even arms and legs too. He was supposed to be Thick. Thick like the electro fatui thick!!!

@@midas7332 I mean we saw him put down a whole piles of books :3
I read somewhere that it makes sense for Itto to look that way because he's so carefree about life than he most likely doesn't work out and just relies on his Oni strength alone, which is much higher than typical people. I mean just looking back at what happened in the Chasm, it makes sense why he passed out.
Honestly, I feel so bad for Ilyas and what happened to him back then. All he wanted to do was help and what did he get for it? Angry looks and words laced with venom. Not to mention the death threats to his family. Those people should’ve gotten in trouble for that, but I bet they got off scot free. No wonder Lisa left.
Right?! Where the actual fuck were those people's moral compasses at? They were leeching off someone's research and all they can say is iF oNLY hE wAs A bIT sTrOnGeR or bEcAUse oF yOU I hAvE I cAn'T gRaDuAtE boOoHoOoo. Not even a sense or remorse from their actions. Its as if its from a gift from the gods
Alhaitam is just a very straight forward guy, he's honest with his feelings and can be easily taken as being a hostile/rude/asshole at first because of his personality but once you get to know people with this type of personality, they're the best type of friend you could ever have.
Better than friends who always act nice and sweet but not loyal, and the worst type is back-stabbers.
Loved Alhaitham the moment he was first introduced and loved his story quest too, just so good and seeing him remain constantly calm was just so cool!
Real talk tho traveler needs to call up Nahida and ask her to smite Janaki and Jaap because man those two deserve to be expelled from the Akademiya and from living
All the students who knew what was happening and turned on Ilyas when he reported it should be put on trial for aiding and abetting. They don't deserve to be free and about, let alone become scholars.
Just expulsion is enough, besides Nahihi kept the former sages alive. Death is a bit excessive but at least let the guilt be a reminder of their arrogance
Alhaitham spent this whole quest talking about objectivity and rationality, but as soon as he started talking to Kaveh he became so petty
the conversation at the end made me laugh so hard 😭
This quest feel too real on realism bruh, the college burn out reference and money hit too damn close 🤣
This quest hit me pretty hard, probably because it manages to shine a mirror on our real world. Janaki is really hatable, but people like her are everywhere in the world. Heck, find the right thing that we hold dear to holds over our heads and many of us could end up becoming like her. It's the same reason why bullying and workplace harassment goes on for so long: people don't want to rock the boat and put their own stable lives in jeopardy. So, compared to villains with hivemind powers, she seems so much more vile because of how realistic she is.
Ilyas and Siraj also mirrors how people join cults. Cult leaders like Siraj often take advantage of people at rock bottom, and offer them sanctuary where they can feel like they belong. While they certainly don't have hive mind machines, the effect is pretty much the same. It's not just cult leaders, either; plenty of toxic friends and partners tear you down and isolate you so that they can offer you that sole sense of happiness and belonging. So, even with a hivemind leader like Siraj, if you file off the akasha magic hivemind bits and look at what he's actually doing (manipulating his victim's weaknesses), it's kinda frightening how often it happens irl.
Finally, while Janeki is at the forefront of peoples' hate, it's important to remember that the ENTIRE student body of the Akademiya is silently complicit in this, and for totally real-life reasons. While they don't throw it in his face like Janeki and co. did, many of them are probably thinking something like "if we invited this dude to join our research and he torpedos it down, what will happen to our future?" Even the few that are brave are going to be talked down/threatened by their group mates, so as a result, he becomes shunned. This stuff is what happens to real-life whistleblowers as well; they often have trouble finding jobs in their own fields since other managers don't want to run that risk. And people who tend to disrupt the hierarchy, even if for justified reasons, often get silently ostrasized by their coworkers since they don't want to risk their jobs and livelihoods, in the same way that the akademiya students don't want to risk their graduation and future.
tl;dr, the Akademiya characters feel so much more impactful in this character story because it mirrors real life, as opposed to the hivemind for love in, say, a certain other character's story.
True. It really does mirror real life. There really are people like that in this world. Personally, I hate society. I hate conformity and the cowardice of the general populace. I'm not perfect and have been cowardly myself, but there are things I can't stand for and I would rather be ostracised than continue living a lie. It's funny, as kids, we're encouraged to tell the truth the by so called "adults", then as we get older ourselves, we're shunned for being honest and people seem to hate any form of honesty. I already dislike most people, but it still angers me to think that people preach about morals and the truth, yet they stay allow bad things to happen, just to save their own skin. Like, I get it, there's a time and place to be brave and sometimes, it's best not to get involved and it's better to play it smart and safe. But, there are times where people need to grow a spine and stop being cowards. Ugh, humans annoy me. Wish I were a fuzzy, purple alien instead. lol
Like Cyno and Tighnari, I didn’t really understand what Alhaitham was talking about in his character demo. But in his story quest, he basically showed us what he meant in action. “Everything’s connected”, he found the weakest link in Siraj’s collective consciousness project, and tore it from inside out.
This is honestly a great story quest that highlights a handful of different aspects of Alhaitham and also what others think of him. Without getting to know him properly, people make assumptions about him based off of just one singular interaction. This quest proved that despite being an arrogant, blunt and lonely guy, he's actually not rude or an asshole. He didn't shy away from complimenting people here and there in his own way and also doesn't think _too_ highly of himself. You could say that he's a little bit egotistical, with how many times he says and proves that he's a genius but he doesn't flaunt it all that much. He's such an interesting character and I honestly wanna see him more often in the future when it comes to thing related to Sumeru.
On another note, I think I'd also love to see him, Yae Miko and Ayato plan something. I think that would be absolutely hilarious as an event.
Also, unrelated but a bit of a fun fact: the very two NPCs we meet in this quest are references to characters from a Bollywood movie. Rancho & Pia (though hyv spelled Pia with an H) are characters in the movie '3 Idiots'. It's likely that they're referenced here because that movie actually managed to shift the education system a bit in China, something I found out while doing research about that movie for a uni paper. I like that hyv decided to include that little easter egg there. (Also if you haven't watched it, I highly recommend it. It's available on Netflix and it's so so so good. Fair warning though, the movie does deal with dark topics, topics that are actually mentioned in this story quest which I find even more interesting. They really thought this quest out as much as possible lol)
yooo the moment flashback started i quickly recall raju as in 3 Idiots and the story have too many similarity with the movie (my fav movie too)
'coincident' Sumeru is mixed of eastern asia n all, the issues within the academy really well related how stress and selfish most the students become just to graduate from prestigious college just to have better paycheck or better work life. which is really tragic truth that still happens irl....
@@yukiyurosaki Oh yeah! I completely forgot about that part! Raju in the story quest who's based off of the character of Raju Rastogi who, in the movie, also jumped to his d3@th due to being too pressured. Thanks for pointing that out, I'm not sure how that flew by my head completely lol

I wonder what happened between them though, Kaveh seems like a sweet person, lol Al Haitian could have done anything to get him mad but how did they even end up as roomates if the guy can't even call him his friend? That's funny
It was a shared project, and because their differences in philosophy, and polar opposite worldviews, they had a huge fight. The shared project ended with them falling out, and the project being abandoned.
"but how did they even end up as roomates if the guy can't even call him his friend?" - alhaithem found drunk kaveh after he got in debt and offered to move in with him. that's why it's evident they still care about each other but didn't actually talk out their issues from the past. their "differences in philosophy" are also directly connected to kaveh's problem of putting everyone above himself and getting in trouble because of that. their fight was about selfishness vs altruism which i think alhaithem was using to make kaveh take better care of himself and kaveh took it as criticism and they fall out. it's still the main miscommunication they haven't resolved. they're layered characters and their relationship is complicated so that's why people love it
Al-Haitham is that one logical protagonist on korean manhwa
Omg now I'm imagining Alhaitham and Miko just interacting. Entertaining but also terrifying. Especially if they decided to focus on someone. Seriously, your channel is the 1 that motivated me to keep traversing on my Genshin Journey. I've just started and unlocked the spiral abyss, so you inspire me to work hard and lvl up my characters to keep going at it. So that I can unlock Collei.
THE CONVO AT THE END HAHAHA! I love Kaveh and Alhaitham's dynamics so much. XD Always happy to see you post, Bwaap! Love your insight into the quests. :)
If I get fired after being kidnapped then I’m becoming a villain.
FR
bros so unbothered PLSS I LOVE HIM FOR IT
My older sister has a very similar introverted personality with Alhaitham. Shes smart but she avoids people most of the time and if you ever speak to her you'd be surprised how straight forward she is. I really see my sister in Alhaitham
I agree on the part where you said Alhaitham gets away with his personality because he's hot. If an NPC acted like that, I'm pretty sure people would be bashing him left and right. Pretty people get away with a lot of things lmao
I feel like Alhaitham will be seen as an asshole in real life, but fictional character wise, he's quite an intriguing character.
Yeah, just look at some of the harbingers. Even after everything Dottore's done, he still has some of the horniest simps in the fandom, wanting him to be playable--and maybe even have a sobstory to use as an excuse for his insanity.
Meanwhile, there was an Inazuman NPC (who was actually a Fatui spy) who had singlehandedly caused several deadly incidents during the civil war and is ofc, generally hated by the entire fandom. But apparently, if those atrocities were done by someone with a pretty face, then they get a pass.
It might be just a fandom thing tho since these types of fans are always present in nearly every other fanbase, but ngl, they're a lot more common in gacha fandoms like genshin's.
i mean he's a pretty interesting and layered character. you maybe wouldn't want to meet someone like that irl (even though i always appreciate blunt and sarcastic people because you just know they never pretend to be anything other than themselves) but it works well in fiction. people love assholish genius characters like Sherlock Holmes, Dr House, Tony Stark or Sheldon - they have high IC and low EQ, very rational and blunt which comes off as rude and insensitive but they're witty, often charismatic and it makes for good conflict (flawed characters are much more interesting than perfectly nice ones because it's hard to create conflict or development for them). that's why villains/anti-heroes are often much more popular than your typical good-tempered MCs
Meh. I think people like him just as a character since he is interesting and smart. I think we all hate him as an actual human though. I know that's my opinion anyway. If we were ranking characters i like in general due to story lore and personality, he would be at the top for me. Personality and if he was real however.... probably 2nd to the bottom. I could not stand his personality irl, I can barely play his quest without getting mad at him as it is
He’s my ideal introvert boyfriend.
alhaitham or kaveh? 😅😅😅😅
@@Washingtub-senpai I feel like Kaveh is an introvert trying to be a extrovert but makes things awkward
@@Washingtub-senpai ... both
I'm sure he would care more about his book than you.
@@deadshotfx3716 and i’ll be focusing on his abs. We are even. I’ll be with him forever :DD
“Arrogant and emotionally fragile” okay damn daddy chill
Alhaitham, Yelan, and Ayato really here on this 4D Chess Game, would be interesting to see what scheme they could all come up with together
And Yae lol
I bet you he walked forward inside the room again and then he had to watch the cutscene again.
I honestly would watch a series just of Alhaitham and Kaveh discussing everyday life
it will be funnier if it's from kaveh's pov. "my lazy corporate slave roommate is actually the grand sage !?"
10/10 I would watch it
if Alhaitham and Yae Miko meet it would be turn out like "I know what you think i know that you know i know"
There are so many characters from different regions I would love to meet up. **crosses fingers**
43:51 Alhaitham really called Paimon blind
Project "fool each other" ft yae miko, ayato kamisato and alhaitham. I'd pay to see this...from a distance so I won't be a pawn. 😂😂
I recently started watching this bro's videos but these make me laugh. The reactions are funny too!
after finishing this quest, I'm most curious about how the whole Dottore clone's project was done, basing myself on that scene where Dottore actively finished (maybe only a part of) his clones to trade the two gnosis with his mind (?) Sure is not the same Hive ordeal from this quest but it has some similarities because the Dottore clones had their own emotions and personalities (or it all at least just reminded me of this Archon quest scene)
I would guess that it is different because what Dottore was doing was making literal clones - they WERE connected through minds I guess like the Hive here, but they weren't different people like with the Hive, they were all literally just Dottore (different personalities and even slightly different voice because he made clones of himself in different ages, but they are all still just ''Dottore''). He also should not have any more clones FOR NOW since as he said - by making him delete them, Nahida is now just ''temporarily ahead''.
What Dottore did was more like puppets since, if I remember correctly, he took inspiration from Scaramouche when creating them.
@@sara_s1737 and also for now he's deleted all of his clones, not just a part of them, as stated by Nahida herself. Unless he managed to trick her, of course
Omg, someone also see the connection, same with tighnari story quest and karkata " machine " having feelings
Both scholars tried approaching forbidden research that dottore was interested in before
he said that he needed rare and valuable items to create them but i dont think his clones have emotions just like himself💀
Bruh Alhaitham is roasting Kaveh to death 💀😂
the 2 npcs confronting Ilyas for snitching on that silly instructor for his friend's death is on the top of my "NPCs i wanna slaughter in teyvat" list far above the previous grand sage
Me to Siraj during the story: *"stfu bro, I brawled with the Electro Archon"*
Honestly I think Miko/Ayato and Alhaitham wouldn't get along at all. The former enjoy playing with other people and the latter tries to stay away from them. Also the former wouldn't even bother trying with Alhaitham because the dude wouldn't even play along and that makes him boring to them.
There's a reason Miko enjoys toying with Gorou because he gives a reaction to her tricks while Alhaitham wouldn't.
Ayato would probably be fine with Alhaitham because he hates small talk and Alhaitham is a no bs man
Paimon: "Oh! You're roommates!"
Me: "Oh my god, they were roommates."
35:05 : "i asked for affordable rent, not a megamind cult" SO TRUE
18:31 the Akasha is everyone’s villain origin story
I love him. Favorite character for life
Al Haitham and Yae Miko plan to fool each other would end up being a loop of:
- I expected you would do this so I did that!
- Aha! but I anticipated you would do that, so I did this!
- AHA! that was a trap because reasons!
- AHAAA! it was just a bait since I suspected the reasons and got you to admit!
- AHAAAAAAAAA! ....
Bwaap opinion about if Alhaitam was not good looking is so true, even i will be more annoyed whenever he talk
i just noticed that in his story quest, Alhaitham repeatedly states he doesnt look down on anyone, and we see that he never purposely antagonizes anyone- even people trying to kill him. Which makes is more funny that Kaveh is the only person he seems to tear into on a personal level. I like to think Kaveh is the one person who makes Alhaitham's indifferent mask slip.
58:37 man i feel like kaveh is the type of person to get drunk at a party and starts to pole dance with his pants off (or his pants are already off and he’s dead)
24:40 He's looks so proud of it LMAO😭😂
Alhaitham and Kaveh's dynamic is interesting, because I've seen a lot of people say either "oh my god Kaveh is so mean" or "oh my god Alhaitham treats Kaveh terribly". But, quite importantly imo, in this quest Paimon remarks that she "doesn't know which one of them is more problematic".
I think when considering their relationship you need to look at intention. Do Hoyo want to villainise one of their popular husnandoes as a toxic asshole? No. Even the "villain" playable characters like Childe and Wanderer are nice/funny on occasion. Kaveh and Alhaitham's interactions are intended to be humorous, to make you gasp and say "oh wow I can't believe he just said that!".
Like, Kaveh accusing Alhaitham of having no empathy when he's clearly pretty emotionally stunted and decently moral is mean. But saying "At least I'd be a fungus with empathy!" Undercuts that - it's clear neither Alhaitham nor the player are suppose to take those words seriously.
Alhaitham dismissing Kaveh's field of work with "you work yourself to death just for a smile" is so belittling, but it's a retort to Kaveh saying his scribe job is at "rock bottom" in the Akademiya. Alhaitham isn't lashing out or trying to demean Kaveh in front of others (this interaction happens after the player has "left"); he's just continuing their verbal sparring match. I think people take this jab so seriously because it can be seen as a jab at a lot of people working out of passion, but in the context of the dialogue we're not supposed to regard it so deeply.
It's also fairly clear that nobody in game takes them seriously either. Tighnari says Kaveh is "as pent up as an anemo slime" in his Alhaitham voiceline - another funny quip - and Collei details how hard it was to suppress her laughter when Kaveh was talking about Alhaitham. Nobody thinks they're genuinely bad for one another, or that getting them separated is all that crucial.
Even the interactions in this story quest are just so silly and domestic: Kaveh can't get the painting straight, Alhaitham buys ugly furniture, they're arguing about rent and drink tabs, Kaveh is doing an unfair amount of housework and Alhaitham fucks off without entertaining his own guests. it's funny, or at least it is clearly intended to be.
I've heard that in the other dubs the VAs tones are different and it makes the lightheartedness clearer. Personally I've thought since their first interaction in the AQ that Alhaitham is having fun during their quarrels, and Kaveh is just melodramatic enough to act traumatised even if he isn't truly offended.
Well said!!
exactly!! they're literally each other's foils and that's why i love them. neither one is abusive or cruel towards the others; one thinks with his head, and the other with his heart. one is more outgoing and the other prefers a small circle of people. they're polar opposites.
This!!
a very good analysis. Hoyo obviously plays off into their domestic bickering as a comedic relief (which is more obvious in CN VA). you can see Alhaitham enjoying their verbal sparring because it's the only time we see him be lively and initiative and Kaveh goes full-on drama queen mode and complains to their mutual friends after (which all of them find amusing).
despite all their arguing, they can't seem to stay away from each other (it's not like Alhaitham had to invite Kaveh to live with him or Kaveh couldn't stay with any of his friends/find another place for the same rent fee), can't stop talking about each other (it's funny how many times they bring each other's name), even their fundamentally different philosophical views are tunneled into Alhaitham wanting Kaveh to get his life together and take care of himself first and Kaveh simply not being ready to accept his issues yet).
overall, the devs made them a "package deal" in the story because all their content is so intertwined, they're literal opposites that balance each other out - mirrors. so i don't think we're going to see them separated.
27:51 i had the exact same reaction to jaap's response about raju's death. he really had the audacity to say "i'm sad about his death too...BUT" and then proceeds to gaslight raju and say that he should've chosen another time to unalive himself.
49:41 this line brought me back to the early days of Genshin idk why. But it’s a very classic Paimon line that we don’t get to hear because she’s screeching most of the time
Alhaitham is such a character. Sometimes I do sympathize with his view and other times I cant go with even a single word from him.
4 months later I can finally watch this because when this was uploaded, I didn't have Alhaitham yet cuz I lost the 50/50 (already said this in my last comment) but now I have both ALHAITHAM AND KAVEH and I have to tell everyone I love the two 😂
Lmao I got an Alhaitham demo ad after I clicked this video 😭😭😭
even tho i find alhaithams and kavehs interactions quite funny i still feel like alhaitham is borderline mean to kaveh ... maybe its just me ... i hope hoyo gives us a later quest, be it from events or stuff where it explains what their past history was, kaveh even mentions they used to be friends but not anymore so i am quite curious to see what happened in the past
I see many people feel bad for Kaveh while I feel extremely bad for Alhaitham, I couldn't live even a day with someone like Kaveh, I'm just amazed by Alhaitham's patience, that's beyond my understanding
Their fights can be a little ... uncomfortable, as both Alhaitham and Kaveh always go for the throat. Telling someone they have no humanity or that their life's work is meaningless is a little intense 💀
@@olgabutorina4156 as someone who lived with roommates for 8 years and only had 2 years with one good and 6 years with various degrees of terrible roommates (mind you, I don't even have high standards, my literally only requirement is to leave a single unoccupied cooking surface in the kitchen and not be noisy in the evening and morning (aside bad coordination in the morning, I can totally feel that) and if they want to listen to music without headphones, just ask me if I'm okay because I have migraines and good hearing...way too good). I empathize with both of them, but Alhaitham's line about not having to work himself to death is mean. As someone who does exact that to be able to live alone and have enough money for comfort, I totally side with Kaveh solely because of that. And also some other lore between them
But, Alhaitham is the one who invited Kaveh in, and he definitely realises his responsibility, so respect for that
Alhaitham's 4th character story goes over a bit about their past, you can read it online
@@olgabutorina4156 i thought the same way at first that kaveh was rather annoying and kinda clinging to alhaitham cause of the house and all that but if u see the way he speaks to alhaitham u can see he starts the convo in a low voice, polite manner and then alhaitham says something "mean" to him so kaveh then responds in a loud voice and tries to return alhaithams snarly remarks ... in all the convos we have seen so far alhaitham was the one pushing kavehs buttons lol
alhaitham be like yeah i learn languages but i'm native in sarcasm
