2:55 I find scouting pretty fun! If its just a scouting day you don't have to get up as early and you get to explore more places. Maybe get a shot at some other game like deer or hogs in my area.
@@jacobridgedell2096 I guess your right scouting in season is a little bit better than scouting pre-season. Cause scouting and finding ducks when you know you have to wait a little bit SUCKS! 😂 thanks for the support and checking out the video brotha!
Imp cylinder and 5s or 6s for the newbie. Shoot the largest most pellet saturated pattern possible at under 30yds. If you cant get them in closer, your decoy game is wrong or you arent hidden well enough, or youre calling at the wrong time. Buy only a drake whistle and pay attention to how they react to it. Call 1/10th as much as you think you need to. Anytime youre not seeing ducks you should be improving your hide.
been duck hunting in NM for 40 years, this is great advice, I agree with all that was said, the bigest thing is to have your decoys where ducks want to be, {scouting,} and a good hide. sitting on a bucket in the tree line is not hiding,, great video !!!!!!
Very good point about decoy placement! Another aspect of scouting that is not focused on enough. Glad you liked the video and thanks for the checking out the channel!
When you scout or hunt, if you see a small area ducks consistently land in, no matrwr what your human brain thinks, hunt that spot vs any other spot youre seeing or "feel" like youd do best in. Let the birds show you where to kill them. If you scout well and hide well, most times you can use less than 6 decoys. Make it easy on yourself.
Great tips, scouting is definitely key. You don’t have to be a great calling no doubt. But a good calling can definitely entice birds. Practice makes perfect. Might want to dim down on the profanity a tad bit. Just a little advice for your future channel growth. Good luck out in the marsh.
Yea I need to work on practicing more on my calling, it’s not terrible but could definitely add to it. I’m going to try to curse less going forward lol but I do want this channel to be authentic and that’s just the way I talk so it’s a struggle. Thanks for the support and watching the video brotha!
I appreciate the support and you checking out the video! Hoping this video helps new hunters have more success, duck hunting can be a grind, especially if you don’t know what you are doing lol
Well you sir are a better outdoorsman than me 😂 never been a fan of scouting bc of how much guess and check it is. Sounds like I need to become huntin buddies with you 😂
#1 and #5 are key. I can’t stand public land hunting and guys want to shoot at birds that are way out of range or working someone else’s spread and making the turn.
I don't mind personally, but as far as channel growth goes, I think it might help you out. Keep it up though. You have the editing skills and knowledge to make it on here.
Note taken my friend, I’ll work on it! You are probably right that it will help the channel, I appreciate the kind words my man! Stay tuned, a lot more cool stuff coming

The first call a beginner should get is a mallard drake call. Easy , quiet, and effective.
Your hide is most important second to scouting a spot.

Great advice!
1) scout. Find birds and whete they want to be.
2)hide. If i can see you, youre not hidden.
3)motion on water
4)shut up. Call less.
5)hunt mid week.
Phenomenal advice for newbies!

Man it can make public land hunting hard when you get around those type of fellas! Thanks for checking out the video!

Great tips, but the profanity is a little unnecessary for a youtube video lol
Thanks for checking out the video my man! As far as me cussing, that’s just how I talk, it’s not that big of a deal, it’s just words lol
