What about a shot gun and shells
lol! Don’t kid the newbies. You get into duck hunting and you’ll never have a dollar for anything else.
🤫😈
you left out one key part, a shotgun😂
mossberg mavericks are under $200 sometimes.
Mossberg or Remington would be the best choices also he should add 10$ for duck ammo.
Remington 870
Lol
That’s the first thing I thought lol
Do a challenge and go hunting with this gear on public land!
Carolina Tide That’s actually a really good idea! Gonna do that next season and than maybe give it away 🤔
Mid Valley Mercenaries great idea!
Mid Valley Mercenaries Hey don’t forget about this!!
Mid Valley Mercenaries seriously don’t forget about this. This would be really neat
Just a reminder to not forget to make this video!!
3:30… “but before we get started”… yep, that’s a down vote for me. Ridiculous
Guys play it at 1.25x and your life will be much better
Forgot our the most important a things. Shotgun and shells lol
I mean that’s a given my guy I mean it’s pretty clear you need a shotgun and shells to hunt I think this video was just simply a insight on the “extra” gear you need!
Yup
Love the enthusiasm from a guy that’s well established in the sport. Definitely helped me a lot as a first timer at 36 years old. Thanks for the content guys, can’t get enough of it!
Appreciate the feedback
I'm 25 and did not grow up hunting. How's your endeavor going?
@@ian5780 hardest part has been time.. having a family hasn’t allowed me the time I wish I had if I were single or didn’t have kids like I did at 25 haha. Take advantage of it now if that’s your situation. Other than that it’s been awesome, one of the best learning experiences I’ve had in my life!
@@zb5715 yea I'm single with no kids.
Will you show how to find public waters to hunt please
Go to your state’s game and fish commission website and they should have areas listed. They probably have maps on there too. If not you can probably use google earth.
Use Google maps and look under standard mode and find green blocks of land. Alot of these will be public land. Switch into satellite view and look for ducks flying by.... lol no look for water and swamps that look accessable. The most important part is now you have to go to these places and scout them and find what you think is the best spot and the second or third best spots. Then hunt them!!
Im in california and i can apply for hunts for a dollar but there are like 15 applications per hunting location( Colusa and Grizzly Island for example). How many should I apply for in regards to probability? Id like to hunt once a week so if I send in 10 apps for 10 saturdays then will I only get selected for like 3 out of the 10 saturdays? How does this work?
Fish and game will give you drawing odds for each refuge. Most are 1 in 10 odds
Good stuff! And after you spend $200 to get started, spend a few thousand more to get addicted! :)
Somewhere In Wisconsin haha. You know this is all it takes to get addicted!
@@MidValleyMercenaries maybe I worded that wrong. A few thousand more after addiction.
Haha no. You’re the teacher
I bought the Buck Gardener Double Nasty duck call and the Primos Original Wench for my first two duck calls to learn how to call ducks. They are both great calls. Thanks for the video, just what I needed as a new duck hunter!
Great calls! Thanks for the feedback!
2yrs later and the price has doubled for this gear
I started hunting last season with exactly everything you recommend in this video. But this year went down rabbit hole of buying blinds, decoys, kayaks and so on, so now it’s an arm and the leg but I regret nothing 😂
Lol. Happens to the best of us
@@Sam.Binkss yes sir, shot few snows, canadas and some ducks, mostly got knowledge and most important got my leads right. This year already at 50+ birds all public land
Awesome video! This is super helpful! Wish I would have had this video to watch about 3 years ago. Haha.
Thanks! Ya me too. Hopefully it can help some new guys out
A follow-up video to this would be great. Most of these items are now unavailable or 3-4x the price now.
$95 for a 12 pack of decoys now, the economy has gone to shit in the last 3 years, even generic turkey decoys have doubled in price.
Dude! I wish I'd have had this video 2 yrs ago! Awesome content man.
Ryan Rhoten Thanks 🤙🏼
If you get the waders too small your feet will freeze. Especially if you put two pair of socks on
MattTZew very true. Case by case
Very true. Need space to let them breath. Doubling up on socks will have the same effect, especially when you’re hunting those below freezing days

I bought all this stuff, took it out on a hunting trip, then when I saw the ducks in the air, I realized I forgot to buy a gun
Shucks
Lmao did you just tell kids to go stand on a street corner!? Great video’ I still use flambeau deeks and killem.
Ha. Hey you gotta do what you gotta do right
Titus I hope the person that watches this video doesn’t go out in the marsh without a gun
😂🥴
Great tips for getting into duck hunting cheap. Once you're hooked there's always something new you want. I've given some of my old decoys to kids wanting to get into duck hunting. Great vid as always and like the look of the merch.
Yep it’s a dark hole into gear. Thanks man
It’s a heck of a long shot and I’m lucky I came out on top but u can always try at your favorite hunting organization banquets. I’ve won two shotguns at pheasants forever and I know people have won some at DU, delta waterfowl, national turkey wild turkey federation and etc etc... It’s a long shot but u can get some good gear. Plus it all goes to a good cause.
Definitely. Actually your odds are pretty good at some of those banquets depending how many people show up
Wish I would’ve had this 2 years ago, I spend $200 a season in ressi applications. Great video Titus!
Haha. Right! Thanks man
Thanks so much for this video! I am ordering this exact cart for my first hunt
Awesome man! Welcome to the Waterfowl world
To hunt the ducks are you going to lasso them with paracord
Slingshot
Video starts at 4:12
The real mvp of this vid
If you get cheap decoys, make sure to put 4-5 thin coats of matte clear spray paint. That will help paint chipping
I’ve got 18 decoys that cost me roughly $75. My waders cost about $70. I hunt with a Mossberg maverick 88 which is $190. My favorite shells are federal blue box which are $14. My call is the duck commander duck picker which was $25. Total of $374 gun and ammo included. Expensive gear doesn’t improve performance. There’s no substitute for shooting skill.
Nailed it
Pattern Paper u wanna send the links to this stuff 😂
A good shotgun makes a difference. My stoeger was so picky with ammo. I switched over to Beretta.
What about blinds?
If you are on this tight of a budget, and do not have a gun, look for a Remington 870 express combo. It is a 12g pump shotgun that is chambered for 3" shells and the combo comes with a rifled barrel that is good for your deer hunting either with the iron sights on it, or with a sight rail mounted to the gun. It also has a "field barrel" which is a 26" or 28" barrel with interchangeable chokes using the standard remchoke threading. Down the road when you can afford a better rifle for your deer hunting, and you can afford a better shotgun for your duck hunting, put a red dot sight on it with the field barrel and a turkey choke then wrap the thing in strips of camo blind burlap and you will have an EXCELLENT dedicated turkey gun.
That one gun will be suitable for Deer, Duck, Goose, Turkey, Quail, Dove, Pheasant, Squirrel, Rabbit, and protecting the home. I have had mine for close to 20 years now, but I believe they can still be found for around $500. My only complaint is the stock is low quality wood (to keep the price down as compared to other Remington 870 models), but if you keep it well oiled with boiled linseed oil, it will last a lifetime. Alternately, amazon has synthetic stocks for it for under $60 and picatinny sight rail for under $70 (I have a slightly more expensive stock set giving me a pistol grip as I now use my 870 primarily as a dedicated turkey gun with a red dot and a burlap gillie wrap).
Great stuff! Just moved to Lake Havasu City AZ, hunting opportunity's are slim but I found out about Lake Havasu Wildlife Refuge and there are a bunch of ducks over there. If you guys ever want to do a Ducks In The Desert video let me know I'd love to show you what I've found.
do your selves a favor and save your money buy quality gear waste your money in the long run buying Mediocre gear
what ever you do spend the extra and DO NOT BUY FLAMBEAU DECOYS, they will be chipped to all hell after the first hunt.. you'll wish you never got them and wont be able to get rid of them either..
That’s a good tip about tying to the fronts and backs of your decoys. Never woulda thought of that. Good video!
Thanks Adam 🙏🏼🤙🏼
Using that cord to tie you're decoys with is gonna end up in a tangled mess in your decoy bag and a lot of frustration.. Just get the Lifetime Decoy rigs right off the bat.. Never use paracord BS...
PLEASE do a video about scouting ducks in a helicopter
The problem where I'm from isn't getting the gear, it finding a spot to hunt
Kyle Yago I cant help with that one bro 😢
Sounds like a south georgia problem
Move to California and you will have plenty of hunting spots.
@@Huechang7777 with 50 % higher taxes on real estate and any thing else you want to do.
Current cost for everything on this list is $280.63 + tax in your area.
Never duck hunted was raised with the belief duck hunting is a rich man sport now i dont have an excuse lol cost less than my bow sight.
That sweater looks really comfortable 👌🏽🤙🏽
It’s super plush
nice video brother, thanks , I'll follow your advice
After license and shotgun your 500-1000$ invested
Thanks for the shoutout Titus. 🇺🇸
Ya dude! 🤘🏼
Ok so you got all that now how are supposed to shoot the bird? You didn’t buy a gun or ammunition.
Here I am just dropping 3k for new gear for me and my son. But we are going to have fun.
Brought out my new ethos cordoba 28 this weekend and crushed a mixed bag limit of woodies, ringbills, and mallards, both mornings. Felt great after a 15year break from waterfowling. All 4 of my sons are of age to start going with me so now my wallet gets the pleasure of buying 4 more shotguns and camo that fits them for one season.....lol
Awesome! Welcome back and good luck with all the purchases lol
4 minutes of nonsense in the beginning, just get to the point man holy cow😂
Great video Titus! Your channel is one of my favorites I bet it really blows up in the next couple years and Rocky is probably the best retriever on you tube you should be very proud of your dog! Thanks for all the great videos can’t wait for next duck season!
Thanks man! Appreciate that. I’m very proud of Rocky. Can’t imagine what he’s gonna do next season.

Its fun and "cheap".lol
How much?
You can’t even get a shotgun for 200 dollars
Instructions unclear, spent 50k on a boat and loads of duck hunting stuff
You must’ve not read the fine print
Duck hunting is the biggest money pit in my whole life
Yeah I need waders and a shotgun and don’t have the money
Prices surely aren’t that anymore. Decoys now are over $110
Almost everything on this list has doubled or tripled in price.
want happens if your hunting on a river they dont swim down streem
How do I size myself for waders as a young women, I tried looking at google, but I don't understand the size chart. Can you help! Thanks:)
Take a look at these waders. They are made specifically for women.

It’s worrying dumping a bunch of money
55k view ... 11k sub’s . Cmon folks
Thanks for the video! Definatly helped me. I mainly need decoys to get started and a call.
I got a steal on waiders last summer. There was a big tent sale and there was some super nice frogtoggs for $200 new, on sale for $150 I think and just so happened that there were like half of of the already marked down price, and so I got a $200 pair of waiders for under $70!
Like I said I mainly need decoys and going to get the triple threat duck commander call. I'm probably going to wait till sometime this spring and wait for the Cabela's decoys to go on sail (already has weights and cords, and I think a dozen floaters) for I believe about $90 normal Price, and we'll I can't use them until fall so as mine as well wait till I can get a good deal
Glad to hear!
So is the remaining $2.12 enough for a dog and a shotgun then?
For an extra $5 I like the Avery essentials decoys a lot better than the storms.
I dont have either one. Could I ask why the every ones are better?
Go stand on the street corner😂😂😂😂
Awesome video sir. Thank you very much
I think $3,000 will get you duck hunting
Remeber when it really was this cheap 😔
Pawn shop is a good place to get a cheap shotgun
I forgot what he looked like without a beard
Are we supposed to throw rocks at the ducks?
Well a dozen duck decoys is 80bucks, a buck gardener double nasty poly duck call is 20, and then a cheap shotgun at a pawn shop is about 200. A box of shells is 15 dollars at walmart, and a pair of waders get fly fishing waders and put a ghilly suit over them 150 bucks for both, 460 for everything and you have quality stuff you can use for several years and build on. Use your old tennis shoes cause you will definitely loose some shoes in the mud till you get boot foot waders.
Great video, I’ve spent so much money since I started waterfowl hunting(3rd season this year) definitely wish I had a video like this back then 😅
You missed a few items on this video. Shotgun, Shells, Sling and Wader Jacket. If your not in CA., your gonna need cold weather gear. You also need to add Head Gear, Gloves and Decoy Gloves. It gets cold and ice covers everything in most places in the Mississippi River Flyway. So add another $2000 to that $200....lol
Shotgun? Non-toxic shot shells?
Im in california and i can apply for hunts for a dollar but there are like 15 applications per hunting location( Colusa and Grizzly Island for example). How many should I apply for in regards to probability? Id like to hunt once a week so if I send in 10 apps for 10 saturdays then will I only get selected for like 3 out of the 10 saturdays? How does this work?
Inflation has this about 325
Lmao half of this video is you asking for someone to buy your products (asking for someones money), then you say people have to do what you did and work hard for your money.
There is a solid 2 minutes of good info in this whole video.
way to teach people just enough to get hooked.
😈
Prices way higher now! Waders around $169, decoys 6-pack is $37… by the time you finish up to around $260. Still not bad though. I should probably wait until after season in spring.
That's just the subtotal
Love the video helped alot
Need to see a budget loadout hunt challenge. Sub $500
My Hodgman waders are actually better then my Red heads & Banded. Which was a shocker to me.
plus 500$ for a shotgun and 30 for every box of shells and 300$ for a coat and gloves
The decoys are 60$
What about a gun😂
Stand on a corner?
What about the gun
Great content man!! I just went duck hunting for the 1st time in Stuttgart AR, love it and would like to start getting into waterfowl. This video is great!!
Awesome!
@@MidValleyMercenaries been watching your videos and all of them are great. Keep up the good work. 👍🏽 you Just earned another subscriber! 😁
Thanks
You are great!!!
Great summary Titus! Now with all the money they've saved they can buy more merch haha.
High Prairie Sportsmen Thanks! Haha 🤫
Great video. If you look around you can pick up a Maverick 88 all purpose (28'' barrel) for under $200.
Can you make a video on where you should hunt for what ducks
Where do i find waders for fat guys?
Banded or Rogers Sporting goods
My understanding is that the cost of entry isn't an issue as much as once you're into it money burns a hole in you pocket upgrading/getting new stuff, not to mention if you want a high quality retriever....or 3 😂 but I appreciate the vid all the same, even if I'm late to the party
Haha so true just hit check out on a 800 dollar cart from divebomb 😂
Thanks really helpful vid ive been wanting to duck for quite awhile and i dont have alot of money
Thank you for this video. Very informative.
I like what you did there with the amazon thing.. If we were smart, we should have done that in our basic gear video lol
😬
I would try rogers sporting goods online they have really great prices on many of the items u bought on Amazon. I think buying waders online is more hassle than its worth I would go to bass pro, cabelas or sportsman warehouse to try the sizes and see what u like. I personally have had great luck with the cabelas super mag waders, warm for here a lot but last a long time.
