HD565 was my first pair of proper headphones. I still remember going to the local audio store (before online stores was a thing) to listen to them, and the feeling walking home with them afterwards.
Sennheiser TOL's: HD565----> HD580----> HD600----> (You know the rest)

Had a pair of these from ‘96. Re-padded, re-driverd with HD600 pods, which are exactly the same fit. Sound amazeballs. Got a second pair. Re-padded, re-drivered with HD650 pods, re-cabled with a balanced cable. Sound amazeballs and compete with my LCD2’s.
Since 1993 I have my 565 ovation and I see no need to buy another headphone for listening to music at home.
Zeos about to ascend into sound itself with all the equipment he owns.
This is the only audio review channel I watch because the reviewer doesn't sound like he is going to a family members funeral in an hour
The clips on the headband are from being used as a shop display model, and the cables were routed up and out of the top, with a curly extension to an overhead plug. I had a pair of HD545's which had exactly the same thing, and they even had a pair of inline resistors inside the headband for some reason.
I have my hd 565 ovation over 15 years running with MF x-can and still love them.
I like the look of the Ovations. Looks very technical in a way.
I have a pair of Sennheiser HD540's that I purchased in 1984 and they still sound very impressive! Though I did replace the headband, wire and pads.
The holes at the top of the head band and the metal hooks on top of the head band bring me back too when I was in hi fi retail in the 1990’s the he 560 ovations were originally on a sennheiser demo bar which hung up from the ceiling and all their headphones range of that year hung down in ascending order of quality the cable connected from the top of th head band and the hooks on the top were to keep the cable tidy, so probably originally was took by a hifi salesman when the sennheiser range finished I.e free headphones. They were brilliant actually better than the blue colour top of the range had 580 as the hd 560’s were easier to drive ……the good old days xx
Listening to this on my ovations I bought yesterday for 65 Euros.
The 565 ovation mk 1 which these are were first launched in January 1996 and were took out of production October 2006

I have HD600 and I still have my HD565 which I use with my computer to listen to music. But comparing both on my HIFi the HD565 are slightly louder. But the HD600 are smoother as you mentioned. I’ve had my HD565 since 1995/96. At a cost of £150.
