I had a quasi-"soft near field" setup in a small apartment once. I had a coffee table with a short-throw BenQ projector on it, flanked by the $129 Klipsch ProMedia THX 2.1 system's satellites with the included subwoofer underneath the coffee table. I eventually had to move somewhere, without a blank wall, where this setup doesn't work. Despite the low cost $129 nature of the Klipsch system, it was still better than my current $2000+ system (which is in a much larger room). And the 100'' from the short throw projector was amazing. Room acoustics and screen size are so important. *Yes, I realize the coffee table is not a soft surface, but the principle is the same. Near-field sound, huge screen is the path to happiness on a tight budget.
That night up on the eighth floor at CAF was,so cool going up to the Mon Acoustics room was a great time. Hearing these speakers pushed to a good volume was definitely a fantastic audio experience. No female jazz singers were played!
An Isobaric speaker design is interesting. There are several speakers in that price range that are REALLY good for the $$$. BMR and Ascend Acoustics use a pretty neat RAAL tweeter instead of the AMT. PMC uses transmission line bass in their bookshelves. (Though all those are larger speaker) Tough choices, and I have heard the large Platimons a few times and yep they sound awesome. I would like to upgrade my RP600MIIs one of these days but I wish I could hear them all next to each other! Thanks for the review!
You shouldn't be watching any of his reviews for new gear. Keep the stuff you have and stop this purchase validation addiction. These videos should entrainment only, once maybe every 3 or 4 years, actual information on your next purchase.
It's funny how it's people with less income watch these videos for new purchases instead of just enjoying the video. It's almost as if you having impulsive tendencies to purchase things is the reason you don't have those saving.
@@Hahmier I actually spent ridiculous amount of money into audio gear for many years but came to a conclusion that high-end is great but not as great as we imagine before buying it :) and I also don't believe any pair of speakers on earth should be worth that much. my prev. comment was like a joke+critique on pricing. that was my take though.

I had a chance to listen to these speakers live in the SoCal show and they were really amazing with their size. They were heavy in weight.
