Team Liquid's most recent project… did not pay off. On paper they had what looked like a fantastic roster but just over 7 months later it all fell apart.
Now, they are hardly the only team looking down the barrel of a substantial rebuild but what is it going to take to save NA’s biggest team? And does it have anything to do with the rumours of OG players looking to make their return to CS?

If there is one thing i learned during all my years watching Sports (games and Physical) is that doesnt matter if you make a team full of superstars if they cant play together.
The only "superteam" that worked i can remember was the LoL G2 roster from 2019 with Perkz and Caps😅

While Karrigan brought Mouz to 2nd spot.
Stew genuinely needs to get on at least a competitive t1.5 org. He's always been a good midround caller with great impact outside of the stats

It’s better to add fresh blood than to bring back the old ones. Like it’s understandable the OGs have refined skills but when it comes to adaptability the young players will higher chance of success like who knows a counter Donk might appear
That’s why na ca sucks. If shroud, Stewie, and freakazoid wanted to play again they’re get a guaranteed roster spot. That’s 3 kids who are 17 and have been grinding cs since birth who can’t get a roster spot when they could be the NEXT shroud or Stewie or simple or donk

@rotzloffel just stuff I've read. Not officially confirmed but just speculations from people. Twistzz recently complimented NiKo and M0nesy on X about Dallas but no mention whatsoever about Stewie2k.
I think we need more new talent not old ones. Don't get me wrong I love the og's, where would we be without them, but the thing that got me into competitive cs was watching s1mple on Hellraisers and growing to the super star he is now, I don't want to watch old players trying to relive their glory days I want new stories and new champions. There is a lot of new talent in NA and if all the spots on top teams are taken up by the same names over and over again these new players wont have a chance to get experience in tier 1. I think its time the ogs step down or help nurture new talent and share their knowledge. Malbsmd just joined G2 he did not come up in a bubble there are others like him just waiting for their shot. EU has so many new names NA has had the same "Tried and Tested" players forever. If your in NA support your local LAN
They just hire old players because it’s an investment. It is all about money. Who brings more attention (money) to your team? Some new player who might be inconsistent or someone who already proved themselves and can make you $$$

Igl seems to have a negative impact on player performance. In valorant. Zander is probably one of the best controllers. But they dropped Nitro and Zander is IGL now and is a 1.0 rating. Before he was IGL and when they had Nitro through the first act he was a top 3 rated player and the best controller player with a 1.3 rating through the entire first split

shroud would get absolutely smoked and trashed in competitive CS now.. he was an average CS pro back in the days and the scene is much more competitive right now and shroud fell off.. his rating against tier 1 pros would be lower than Hooxis.
All the NA talent took the smart decision to go to valorant…

Its funny but it seems that to save NA in tier 1 cs you might actually need to do what liquid tried for the entirety of csgo and build a team around elige, man seems to have finally found that other gear in cs2 that liquid was looking for from him for so long, you surround him with top tier talent (its crazy to think about but NAF and Twistzz are actually still looking quite good) you give them a decent caller, support, and coaching and maybe that might do the trick (fuck I basically just said reform 2019 liquid and run it back)

The thing with Yekindar as well is that if cadiaN didn't fit with the rest of the team, and skullz is going to Furia, they can't kick him. That would beak the core and they would lose all their points, meaning no Shanghai Major, which would be a disaster for TL.
They probably won't qualify anyways with Kekindar

I can honestly say I called out the formation of this past Liquid roster hard. Which I have detailed my reasons for too many times. It's nothing against the players personally. At this point, I think the GM at Liquid's CS division needs replacing. Otherwise no one is being held accountable.
Liquid is no longer an NA team is should be referred to as an INTERNATIONAL TEAM. they had an International roster. there were 2 NA players left on that team, before Twistzz came back to the roster. CoL has taken on the role of being THE NA team.
NA will always struggle and I will tell you why. It is way too expensive to go pro in NA. Cost of living is way up on every other region. They don't have the support systems around the game like northern Europe. And there's an obsession with star power.
The fix
Grab 1 veteran, 4 rookies, a coach, and go to work. Nothing else is going to do it for you. You need to build the culture from the ground up. It's not a game anymore, it's a sport, it's your job.
Imma drop some real wisdom on all yall who can’t understand why NA always sucks at competitive Games. Why would the best players play on professional teams when twitch/youtube/other streaming platforms can offer people nearly triple the monetary value and the ability to pick your own hours? If we offered proper incentives for Pro gamers, as well as ways to make it as lucrative as streaming, then we will actually have decent competition to compete with. But as of right now, streaming is much more lucrative.
Cheaters killed NA CS, it's never coming back and never will because cheaters plague MM which limits the pool of potential players and people in NA who would put in the time to become professional at CS.

Honestly, the way people in North America pass around the term "NA CS" like where you playing the cs matters is kind of sad and reflective of a region that has to say the pledge of allegiance for breakfast every morning. Newsflash: no one except you cares

Some people can't separate the memes and streaming career from actually being a legendary and successful top player. For them shroud or scream are players of the same calibre as someone not as popular, but much more skilled, which is insane
G2 was heavily criticized for spending 600k to get Monesy. Liquid got Skullz for 600k but no one blames him for being the problem. Yakindar and Cadian did perform like trash but Skullz was equally bad if not worse. There are so many young talents in NA. I just hope the team don’t waste Twistzz and NAF’s prime

Nothing from the pro scene can save na cs. The only thing that can save it is by investing into cs at a casual player level. There are so few servers in the USA that the majority of the players have 50+ ping, combined with the horrible netcode/subtick it's impossible to grind/get to pro level and play. Na cs will continue to be dead until steam/faceit do something about it
I'm not hating these NA orgs because I grew up watching both NA , EU and Asian teams..I really wanna see them grinding back

Saving Liquid and NA CS; regardless of what the comp looks like, is really just gonna take time, trial, and error. It's still insane this "super team" started finding its footing and then imploded, it makes zero sense. And now putting one of your star players to a position were they will inherently frag less looks rough on paper. They just need to believe in the next project and try to stick it out a bit longer past the starting line.
