    I find this car a very interesting option for a commuter car. Kudo to Nissan to keep making small economical cars. Kudo as well, for not making it look like a basic appliance.

      Safety equipment is critical for young drivers, there are now millions of illegal immigrants driving on our roads, extremely dangerous. 🚦🚧

    Thought you gave a real comprehensive review, much more info than most reviewers. I think this is an honest little car with a lot of features for the money. It also looks real upscale for an entry level car. Too bad none of these will ever sell at sticker 😕

    09:51 -- The Versa handles impeccably, actually. "Handling" means different things to different people. For me "good handling" means light steering, steering play, body roll. And the Versa has those more than any other new car I've tested (a lot of new cars).

    I really wish they would have kept the hatch back model, it probably would give the rear seats a little more head room, and more cargo space. But if they had a hatch back, then the Kicks wouldn't have as much of a market, I still don't get why they had the Kicks replace the Juke, to me the Juke was a car I wanted because it was one of the cheapest AWD cars on the market and the Kicks is only FWD

    We have the same car from 2012, and currently has 75,000 miles on it. We have no mechanical issues with it, and the only thing we dislike is the mpg is not as good as it is rated for particularly on the highway. It has been reliable and trouble free with lots of room for rear passengers.

    You are not going to walk into a Nissan stealership and drive away with a car for $16,000 let alone that RS for $21,000.
    You'll be lucky to get a base model for $21,000. One stealership I went to told me 26,000 - 25,000 out the door and maybe 24,000 if I was lucky on a car who's MSRP was $19,000.

      That dealer should be named and boycotted for life. That's what every single poster should do when they run into this, NAME the stealership, and BOYCOTT them for life. If everyone did this it would stop 90% of this gouging taking place. The other 10% perhaps needs to replace a car no matter what and that is unfortunate. This is not going to last people, only if you let it.
      Band together.

      Dealerships are price gouging across the board. Supply and demand. They are also compensating for their new car sales loss during Covid. Used car prices are more expensive than ever. I also blame Kelly Blue Book, Edmunds, and social media for the increase in auto prices. I just posted an earlier comment about additional reasons for this price rip-off at dealerships. Much has to do with declining global sales of new cars, increased demand and sales of used cars, and the slow down in the manufacturing/output of new cars across all brands. The upcoming EV market and transition also plays a part in this equation.

    lucked out and found a Blk SR in N Texas last New Yrs weekend. been an amazing car! i'm pretty sure the speakers are Bose, sounds too clean, loud, lot of bass. i think Nissan just puts Bose in some top trim models, without having the little Bose emblems on the front speakers, like the Sentra SR Premium. my daughter's Rogue SV Premium has Bose, but no Bose badges ☮

    It's a great deal and has lots of features for the money. I am concerned about the CVT quality. The sound the car makes when accelerating to highway speed is an issue for me.

    Good luck finding one on a lot anywhere at least where I live in Ontario. How are we 8 months into 2023 and there is still so little inventory in the compact/sub compact market?! If I want an SUV there are rows of them sitting on the lots of every brand. I don't get it. Did chip shortages and supply issues only affect small cars or was it just a big scam to choke the market and drive up the cost of these vehicles?

    • @AD-zy4qw
      @AD-zy4qw 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is a lot more going own than chip shortages and Covid to explain new sedan shortages at dealerships. I read an article in the Economist in 2010 or so. New car sales globally have been declining including Toyota sales. Reason is that used car sales outpace new car sales, so manufacturers had to rethink their business model and so did dealerships. The new business model is limiting new car manufacturing/ output to increase demand. Increased demand means non negotiable MSRP, high prices, and limited available cars. We are also in a transitional global market where EV cars are slowly taking over. I am experiencing the same in Texas as you in Ontario. What ticks me off is all this global warming rhetoric: Cars that provide good mileage are hard to come but gas guzzling SUVs are plenty.

    A $16.000 dollar. Versa in the base trim makes a lot of sense. A $21k top, does not. At that point I would spend a little more get a base Civic or Corolla. We should not mistake perceived niceties for quality. You are all but guaranteed the Toyota & Honda's will still be in somebody's driveway 15 years, 300.000 miles from now

  • @tiptonbrett
    @tiptonbrett ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm not sure how much sense this makes. Between the CVT and the built-in-Mexico quality (or lack thereof), I don't think this is a car you get and keep for ten to twenty years (like a Toyota Corolla). If you're talking a lease for $300 a month, it might make sense. It would be cheap and the car would always be under warranty. But, does the car have enough residual for a cheap lease? Or, would you have a cheaper lease on a Corolla because of higher residual value? The overall cost of ownership on a Corolla may not be greater and it's a much better car.
    On a purchase, you would have to realistically be thinking of buying it, keeping it for 5-6 years, and trading it in before it begins to disintegrate. Again, compare that to a Corolla. Would it cost less to do that with a Corolla, because the trade-in value would be so much higher. With the Corolla, the option of buying it, paying it off, and driving it for many years without payments is an option. With this, I don't think that's a realistic option.
    I just don't see this as a long-term purchase. There's probably going to be problems as the mileage racks up, meaning you're not going to want to keep it for very long once the warranty runs out. It may make sense if you can get it on a lease for around $300 month without much down, but other than that, it's probably a better bet to just get a Corolla.

    • @AD-zy4qw
      @AD-zy4qw 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Toyota is a good brand but if you do your research, Toyota has slipped in its quality control so they are not the automaker it used to be. Its Corolla sales have fallen by 4-5% Some models had mechanical issues and some are serious. Their customer service is also lacking these days. Toyota has a lot of marketing dollars to pump their brand, which they do a great job on using social media or celebrities like Scotty Kilmer who love Toyota.

      I’ve already addressed you about this. I’m not saying anyone is buying something cheap, EVERY vehicle that is reviewed is compared to others in its class, size, price, category, etc. I’m not saying this is a cheap car or “worthless”. Get real - understand that features, power, space, etc all depend on prices and categories.
      I drive a vehicle worth about 1/5 of this car so I don’t need a damn lecture

So it seems too this subject really bothers me. Will look into it. But make sure I didn't want to lecture you. I was being sarcastic again. One can say I focused my disappointment on you, concerning the "at this price point" expression used by every YT car reviewer. It's a new expression that was not used before today when the cars are classified by price or niche instead of models and amenities. Just put the "damns" aside. Not needed. What is needed for me is not to moment again on that subject I guess.
