38:10 I think this is the first REASONABLE argument to why someone doesnt like the idea of politics in cEDH. Most of the time the argument from competitive 60 card players normally just boils down to "well I am bad at it so I dont want to do it", but like, your reason is a very fair (and also probably does happen) argument to not want to deal with them.
I'm surprised you're playing Thundering Falls over Steam Vents. I thought you might need untapped red mana on the fly for Meltdown and Pending, and maybe 4 surveil lands is already enough. You'd know better than me, of course
@@skykuryeah you're totally right about that. My thinking is that he's also running 11 fetch lands, so he basically has 16 lands that can surveil. I'm just asking him if that 16th one is really necessary, or if he should be running a way to get untapped Red mana
for the cEDH politics discussion, I think it can be fine, but it can also lead to putting a whole lot of social pressure on someone, even if its not a tournament with big names in it. I had someone in my local scene essentially decide to throw the game if I wouldn't use my on board interaction to remove a stax piece for them, and that whole thing really turned me off of playing there.
I love the idea of the deck but i m asking myself if the best mass removal is not temporary lockdown right now in modern ? Also don t like the mana base of this deck , as a legacy player blue / white control should not die on a bloodmoon / harbinger 😢
To be honest, I started playing cEDH to get AWAY from "Billy Big Deck" mentality. I hate the "oh you played a mana rock? better attack you lol" mentality
6 mana exile wrath as a downside is reasonable. 7 mana time walk is not. That's the issue. And how many ways does this deck have to take advantage of a time walk? Jace, Tamiyo, and that's sorta it?
Pretty clear Spike doesn’t understand cEDH or edh for that matter. It’s multi player format. Talking is involved in decision making 😂. A scenario that comes up time and time again is a one op card that hurts you but another player can get rid of said card to benefit you but in return you help them out. Or you have a rhystic study with top deck tutor in hand. You can fetch a counterspell to stop one opponent from winning but another has to allow you to draw off rhystic study. Spike is more referring about politics to the point of coercion, rules lawyers or mana bullying. Which any decent LGS won’t tolerate at edh level. It also doesn’t happen at cEDH level or competition to what you say. These people get banned or weed themselves out. At end of the day you can choose to play how you want to play
@@swiftdragonrider the 4th pending? cEDH without talking is...what? I mean politics is a part of the game whether you like it or not. You can argue that it makes for an noncompetitive format, or a different take is that it means you have to shore up different people skills. The popularity contest makes no sense. The players are going to try to win, so in your scenario they would probably gang up on the popular player if he suggested those sorts of things.
@@Jamtron88while that’s true, I actually don’t completely dislike edh / cedh as a format, solely because it’s the main reason normally worthless cards can be worth more.
@@Jamtron88it's fun socially to hang out with friends, and it lets you build all sorts of strange decks that you would never get to build otherwise (and have those decks win every now and then) It's not a well balanced format, but it's still my favorite one
Spike please don't play cedh its a godawful casual format and the scene is a cesspool of drama. Its fun as a casual format where you hang out with friends but as a competitive format i think its god awful. Youre also right about the popularity contest thing, some of my friends do enjoy playing in tournaments and that is basically a lot of what they do before top cut.
8:20 - 8:50...LMAO this has got to be the best clip for miracles return to modern!
I laughed so hard 😂
He saw the line instantly. Reminds me of GMs doing chess puzzles.
Countering Titan by putting Terminus on top of the library with Counterbalance out legitimately made me smile! Modern is so fun and silly right now! ✨
JACE THE MIND SCULPTOR? Don't give me hope Spike 😢
Jace is playable if you go all in on it
Modern is healing. Copium
...better than all.
Terminus on top to counter Prime Time with Counterbalance was so impressive because of how quickly Spike saw the line.
Need those monastery mentors for nostalgia
Garbage slow 2015 ahh card
Holy shit match 1 game 1 was perfect. Keep up the good work man!
8:49 is just all the reasons in the world why Spike is just an S tier content creator.
Lucy is truly a great gift, and wanted to share herself with her with your parents
The counterbalance that stole Christmas
Thank you BillyBigDecks for the Christmas miracles
Spike "its a little durdley" 😂😂 it miracles 😂
“Its a little durdley” grass is green
Been playing a lot of Miracles lately. Temporal Mastery is honestly quite good with Brainsurge support. It’s an option over Counterbalance.
Sweet list but no noxius revival?
Straight card disadvantage, is useful in the rare case you need terminus and already somehow have it in the graveyard but otherwise not worth it
@danturner1104 fair possible sideboard piece or a 2 of in the main?
Match 1, Game 1 was awesome

I think he was just preemptively fetching for red
It’s a miracles deck bro, the top of the library matters a lot
@skykur yes but he never ran out of surveil lands in his deck. He was always able to fetch one. I'm arguing that this fifth one is unnecessary

Man I love counterbalance but it just feels too cute, a build combining the terminus package with the energy angle has been pretty good for me though
Miracles
Where is the Angels?
My ears perked up at around 29:30 when you said there's a timeline where you play cEDH. I love that format.
Non-official format have no big tournament with big Prizing ?
(European confusely looking at each other with DC decks)
Billy big decks 😆 but your right strictly edh players are a different breed
This gives me hope that my powerbalance jank might actually win a game or two LOL
Merry christmas!!
Cool 🎉
I am a huge Modern fan but MH3 made me try out other formats and I’m telling you EDH and CEDH is super dope check it out sometime
I’ve always felt this deck is very feast or famine. Fun to play but high variance.
Opt over preodain?
opt is an instant

AspiringBillyBigDecks
Spike how many Surveil lands should I run in my T I M E S I F T E R deck??
I would have thought you'd want an all MDFC manabase for a Timesifter deck
so I guess I have to create a new mtgo account BillyBigDecks now...

OH IM A MORON lmao, i somehow forgot preordain was sorc speed
no Noxious Revival??
CEDH HAHAHA
No take turn :( sad. Just uw control
