Man, I love Stella Lee combos so much. Represents all the intricate things in Magic: holding priority, copying, using crap cards to win. Always great to see her perform well in cEDH.
So one thing you can do is respond to the smothering tithe triggers by copying cerulean again on top of those triggers as opposed to waiting for the triggers to resolve. Might have mattered for the swords interaction :)😮
yeah and then cam would have whole deck pretty much in hand to win after all the smothering triggers resolved, the 80ish treasures probably wouldn't matter at that point
@@BillyN094 They almost certainly would not matter. Considering he'd have his whole deck in his hand with all the counter-magic, he's winning that war. Even if he loses, with fast mana and something like expedite, he can just try again if Stella gets removed.
@@ijs1090 oh yeah i agree, but i doubt stella even gets removed at that point with all the counter magic cam would have in hand, ik force went to bottom but there was still at least 1 other free counterspell left for the swords, and then cam just casts his fast mana and wins after that
@@GoldSabertooth yeah i'm a huge fan of stella, she's always a huge problem and can even win after just burning 2 counters on someone else's turn to stop their win
So I know you guys had checked on that last turn but blind obedience puts artifacts into play tapped so he wouldn't have been able to cast the last spells he needed to go off cuz lotus pedal and Max diamond would have came into play tabbed.
I believe he had two untapped lands, Shifting Woodlands & Minamo, School at Water's Edge, at the top of the board, yes? They were both still untapped when they scooped, meaning he could have used two mana from them instead of two mana from Lotus and Mox. Definitely a missplay, but I don't think it changed the game.
Did he have something to drop infinite lands? If not, Blind Obedience also put creatures into play tapped, not sure he could have killed them all with Ranger effect because Ashaya's power/toughness would have been reduced each time.
@@goldenarmour7975 wouldnt have mattered he could have let them resolve and then casted his rocks and shit with his whole deck in hand, he wins off of it no matter what because he can counter the swords after that
@BillyN094 but to cast the rocks he needs to have already cast borne upon... I'm saying he doesnt have the mana to cast it. He has a spirit guide in deck but he would still miss 1 blue mana.
Please correct me if I'm wrong. But can't you tap Stella in response to the smothering tithe trigger to copy cerulean wisps again, repeat, without ever actually giving him a treasure. This is the same way that it works with bowmasters. And as long as you can win at instant speed using borne upon a wind, all those stacked up tithe triggers will never resolve bc everyone dies
Game #2, you can respond to each smothering tithe trigger by reactivating Stella Lee. You can then draw as much of your deck as wanted this way with all the smothering tithe triggers on the stack.
12:30 I don't play Stella Lee, but what you could have done was in response to the Smothering Tithe triggers, you activate Stella on top of them so Tyler only gets the treasures after you draw your entire deck and doesn't have any mana for interaction during you drawing your deck
For the first cerulean wisps in G2, I would have targeted something else so it doesn't fizzle, maybe the esper sentinel. Also would have activated Stella Lee before the tithe triggers resolved to deny the treasures.
I have a question where the lotus pedal and mox diamond supposed to come and tapped because of blind obedience. He wouldn't have been able to cast scute swarm
I believe you could spell seeker a deflecting swat and in response to the swords on the stack, since you're the active player I believe you'd have priority to cast the deflecting swat.
Maybe I'm making an assumption because it's how I think, but I think people watch this channel mostly because you all are fun content creators. Awesome editing, character-filled, and not full of nonsense.
Cam should have just responded to the Smothering Tithe trigger(s) with more Stella draws. Let him get all the treasures at once when you are already going to draw your deck.
I play Thrasios/Yoshimaru (and rarely Derevi) and I use Angel's Grace with Faerie Mastermind as a way to win in my post-combat main phase. For Derevi the option is Blind Obedience but this doesn't work as well in Thrasios/Yoshimaru. I agree Angel's Grace in a vacuum is not a very good card but if it works double duty as in once in a while stops a Thassa's Oracle win attempt and more often it lets you win in post combat main phase I think it's a valid include.
So Angel's Grace ''Split Second'' As long as this spell is on the stack, players can't play spells or activated abilities that aren't mana abilities. Isn't Stella Lee's tab ability an activated ability? (fyi: New to MTG)
That is true, but that spilt second only works while the spell is on the stack. The table let the Angel's Grace resolve, allowing Cam to continue his loop using Stella's activated ability.
They let Angel's Grace resolve. The win works through Angel's Grace just fine: the Wicked Role tokens make players lose life, but Angel's Grace only prevents damage, not other loss of life, so the loss of life goes through. Players lose a lot of life, going to a large negative life total (say -69,420); they don't lose the game due to Angel's Grace, but the life totals are well below zero, so when the turn ends and Angel's Grace's effect wears off, all three players lose to state-based actions.
2 things on game 2. 1. Tim could have still cast scute swarm however his artifacts come into play tapped due to blind obedience. This means he had to fetch before scute is in play and im pretty sure based off what he announced as his triggers he would have fizzled. 2. CAM LOVE TO SEE YOU ON STELLA. I've been piloting her since day 1. Tou could have responded to the tithe triggers to keep drawing and then tyler doesn't have mana avaliable as he doesn't have any mana when you start to go for it. Also all of your spells are instant speed therefore you could have waited and gone for a win at instant speed when someone else goes for it. Hard to tell what would have happened but the spells used to stop you also would have possibly been used to stop dylan or tim. Either way grats on the first game and the attempt on the second game which I still think with knowing you can respond to the trigger by tapping stella again would have won you that game as well.
Cam, my wife was watching with me and said your lip color is freaking perfect and wants that as a lipstick color. I jokingly said I’d leave a comment and she said do it so here we are 😂
Stella Lee triggers are at instant speed. You could have drawn your entire library in response to them targeting her. Also. I’ve been a Patreon member for a while now and still never got anything about the discord in my emails.
I abandoned Angel's Grace for Everybody Lives. I know it is one mana more and can be countered, but it does turn off almost every possible wincon for the turn.
The comments below are correct cam could of responded to each tithe trigger sincd stella would untapped when those triggers go on the stack copy the wisps on top everytime and draa the deck beofre the tithe resolves use borne up a wind to win with fealty befors tyler gets any treasures
A bunch of advantage? Tim got 2 flips on a very all in strategy (referring to turn 3). He then was able yo deploy his own protection. How is this not just strictly less powerful than assembling an early breach
No, split second only prevents spells from being cast and abilities being activated while it is on the stack. Once it has resolved it's back to the normal rules.
Ngl if anything i feel this just shows that nadu is fine, 3 decks which didnt adapt to nadu (because it was banned) and did fine, i think cedh decks currently dont run enought creature interaction include wipes and counterspells and wed find that nadu does have punishment there just wasnt time for the meta to evolve

Kinda reminds me of Orvar combos. Different cards to win, but lots of shenanagins. Though Stella seems better than Orvar for sure.
