I forgot where I read this, but according to Itoi, the Doorknob easter egg was added to represent the player stepping inside and out of the MOTHER 3 world. In essence, when the Doorknob comes into the screen during this cast roll, you, the player, is stepping back into the real world, your own world.
also heard people theorize the doorknob is a symbol for happiness... flint loses it the night his wife dies. people keep finding it but they don't know what it means so they just throw it away. and in the end when the world is saved it gets passed on to you.
What if Mother 3, or the entire trilogy was given an episodic series of some sort? I don't think a live action reenactment of the games would work too well... as the art style wouldn't fit. Maybe animated, just like the games are. 3d not so much because the entire trilogy is 2d. I feel that the best way to tackle this idea would to be through an anime, because they're a form of animation that can taken seriously, but can have their moments of comedy and silliness, which is what all the 3 games have. But they can also produce very emotional moments too...
