Mother 3 takes place thousands years in the future, which I assumed that Ness already died. If he did used the PK Time Travel or Phase Distorter, that would make a lot sense on why Ness got there.
Actually he's just as if not more relevant than Giygas if you played Mother 3. Seeing as he managed to take over the world where Giygas failed twice. Hell Porky is actually immortal.

I love how Ness actually uses PK Flash against the King Pork Statue, which is one of the two ways to beat it in Mother 3 (other being the New Year's Eve Bomb), with it instantly destroying the statue cause Flash has the instant kill effect.
Man, Lucas just can't be spared from the madness that he has in life, can't he? First his mother died, than his brother was turned to a robot, which then also died, and then this. Life just can't give Lucas a break.

This part of the game got me like so attached to these two, to the point it made me mad that Lucas went on a mission to save Ness, and when Ness is saved theres no scene of them reuniting. The smash bros wii u lucas trailer saved that for me tho. I needed that follow up because i wanted to keep playing the story mode just to help lucas save ness (I was young when i played this i got way too attached to characters)
Idk why they made lucas look weak and coward in this scene and Ness brave and powerful. Ness is the one who needs to call his mom because he would start crying and act weak.
Ness is actually pretty brave. He starts going on an alien-killing adventure by himself without any hesitation, and the homesick status wears off later in the game. Meanwhile, Lucas is pretty skittish, thanks to the traumatic events in Mother 3. It takes 3 years for Lucas to actually start on his adventure, and he doesn’t have any parents to call when he feels lonely. Plus, he probably thought he wouldn’t have to deal with Porky anymore, so he was really caught off guard in this scene when Porky brutally attacks again. Still, I do think they portrayed Lucas as too weak in this scene. I’d like to think that he’s grown as a person after enduring the hardships of Mother 3.
His journey through Subspace seems to mirror his growth through Mother 3. As the journey progresses with him tagging along with Red, he gradually grows braver and stronger. Plus I love the callback in Smash 4 when he comes to save Ness instead and has become much more grown up and confident.
I just realized that Brawl calls him Porky not Pokey. My favorite is Mother 3 so I generally call him Porky, but technically he’s never been called Porky in the United States, only Pokey. Pokey was a mistranslation of his name so that’s where the discrepancy comes from, but I find it interesting that Nintendo chose to utilize the correct version of his name despite that version never being officially used.

Lucas freaked out at the start because: 1. He seemed to not be okay already, 2. Enemies are never good news, 3. The King P Statue is there, 4. He doesn't have a New Year's Eve Bomb on hand, and 5. *The capsule wasn't absolutely safe.*
Speaking of porky's importance in mother's villain scene, porky makes less of an impact on earthbound (his debut game) than in mother 3. In earthbound, he does assist the final boss in the game, and appears say, four other times While in mother 3 he is a catalyst for the events that happen in the game (I'm not gonna spoil anything for the people who plan to play the game), and is the second to last boss you fight. He only appears twice at the end of the game, but its a powerful resolution. Edit: also lucas is babey and must be protected

I beat Porky in like 39 seconds in mother 2 (thanks to Jeff and Ness) he was just that easy but I’m not sure what to feel about porky in mother 3 he’s a little strange
When I first played this game I had no idea who porky, ness or even Lucas was at all but after diving dam deep into the Mother series. Seeing this Porky statue is even more terrifying, like why my boy Lucas have to still suffer man
Same, i started playing subspace emissary, when i reached that level. I dint know who was porky or Lucas, but Ness i knew (because earthbound in 99% more on the internet) when porky revealed himself inside the statue i thinks i was saving him, something Alike as Sonic saving Animals. After i discovered more about the statue, theme about porky and then i played the game :)
Plus it might just me but the area gave me Silent Hill vibes(no one around with gray purplish clouds). Even the(park?) sign looks like the sign by the dock in that game

Porky was a big villain in Mother 3 (Lucas' game) but was more of an annoying neighbor in Earthbound, who wanted to become friends with Ness, but was rejected.
What happened to the zoo? I know that Mother 3 takes place in the far future, but did Lucas really just find the abandon ruins of an area from Mother 1? ...that’s actually really cool.
(This includes a bit of spoilers to mother 3) Porky is a pretty big villain in both earthbound and mother 3(mainly mother 3 though). for Lucas (since his game is mother 3) porky basically takes his paradise of a home town and turns it into a mech world, oh yeah and porky also killed his mom and brainwashed his brother and turns him into a robot, who dies. Your welcome... mother 3 is sad.
Porky is one of the best characters from the mother’s series. Mostly in both 2&3. He’s not in the first but he was evil from Gyggas’s intentions and the third one he makes a city, made Lucas’s brother evil, and is immortal thanks to time travel

The only boss from Brawl to not reappear as a spirit, another boss battle, or final smash in Ultimate. The fact Porky has almost no recognition in Ultimate really makes me want to believe in him being DLC. It makes perfect sense too, he's the villain of both Ness and Lucas and I think it's time Earthbound/Mother got it's villain rep. Ninten would be cool, but I can't see him being added before the villain of the two reps already in. (He could bring in tons of battle music too)
God as I love the Subspace emissary, it has animations, the characters unite well with each other, the bosses do make you feel that there is a danger, it is bad that the Ultimate story mode was not as epic.
Thanks to sakurai oh i dont want to put effort if its gonna be posted. Sakurai everything gets posted. People will still buy the game regardless and most people will wait to experience the story themseleves and there’s usually an unlockable so its necessary to beat it. If people dont have the momey and just watch it what’s wrong with them enjoying your work? Are u saying it only matters if we pay we should get enjoyment from your game? Seeing it has a story might even bring in more people. And people like to rewatch it after awhile as well. Its selfish honestly it was a big part of smash brawl and the speed runs where fun as well. Imagine what ultimate could have done with its voice actors and all but nope we get world of light which is a joke.
I dunno, I think the “scared” part of Lucas’ character was a little overplayed in Brawl. He never ran from this statue, or by extension, even his most disturbing problems in Mother 3. Brawl Lucas would’ve just sat down and died against many of the game’s bosses. Mother 3’s Lucas saw his entire party get decimated with a single strike and still decided to keep fighting. This one witnesses a boy he just met get statued and immediately flees.
I think it’s because he’s supposed to be like how he was at the beginning of Mother 3, where he actually does cry and run away from everything. Sub space is a different world than any of the ones the characters came from so it’s supposed to be like a retelling of Lucas’s arc almost. He gets brave overtime.
I remember watching the cutscenes for brawl years ago when I knew nothing about the Earthbound series, that statue gave me nightmares. I even got a mini panic attack when I unlocked the Porky Statue trophy in smash 3ds lmao

I agree. Plus I could have sworn Lucas is younger than Ness when the beginning of Pokey's actions directly affected him. Ness is heroic and brave but I like to see him in this scene as a surrogate older brother protecting Lucas. In addition, Lucas has no offensive abilities and has always been only ever about healing, he relied on his friends to inflict damage. Instead of viewing him as being "weak" or cowardly we really need to awknowledge that he's a kid with no real means of self defense who relies on quick getaways. The loneliness we're introduced to in the very beginning through him kicking a can while wandering the zoo solidifies that he was lost and all alone and pretty much defenseless up until he met Ness.
The whole subspace plot is why I really love Brawl. They didn't have to make a story but they did! (Then at the end sonics just shows up like its happenin').

Lucas freaked out at the start because:
1. He seemed to not be okay already,
2. Enemies are never good news,
3. The King P Statue is there,
4. He doesn't have a New Year's Eve Bomb on hand, and
5. *The capsule wasn't absolutely safe.*
Speaking of porky's importance in mother's villain scene, porky makes less of an impact on earthbound (his debut game) than in mother 3.
In earthbound, he does assist the final boss in the game, and appears say, four other times
While in mother 3 he is a catalyst for the events that happen in the game (I'm not gonna spoil anything for the people who plan to play the game), and is the second to last boss you fight. He only appears twice at the end of the game, but its a powerful resolution.
Edit: also lucas is babey and must be protected

After Giygas' defeat Ness recieves a letter from Porky challenging him to come find him

I beat Porky in like 39 seconds in mother 2 (thanks to Jeff and Ness) he was just that easy but I’m not sure what to feel about porky in mother 3 he’s a little strange
He is literally the whole cause of 3
When I first played this game I had no idea who porky, ness or even Lucas was at all but after diving dam deep into the Mother series. Seeing this Porky statue is even more terrifying, like why my boy Lucas have to still suffer man
Same, i started playing subspace emissary, when i reached that level. I dint know who was porky or Lucas, but Ness i knew (because earthbound in 99% more on the internet) when porky revealed himself inside the statue i thinks i was saving him, something Alike as Sonic saving Animals. After i discovered more about the statue, theme about porky and then i played the game :)
Now that i've played mother 3 i have a new appreciation for this fight. The mini porky robots is especially a nice detail

Plus it might just me but the area gave me Silent Hill vibes(no one around with gray purplish clouds). Even the(park?) sign looks like the sign by the dock in that game
As a young child I had nightmares of this and honestly I never played the map and friends would choose it if I was playing with them knowing I was scared
Porky was a big villain in Mother 3 (Lucas' game) but was more of an annoying neighbor in Earthbound, who wanted to become friends with Ness, but was rejected.
When I was younger I thought Porky was fast asleep in the spider mech but controlling it with his mind as he was sleeping.
I like to think this is in the zoo from mother 1

Porky is a pretty big villain in both earthbound and mother 3(mainly mother 3 though). for Lucas (since his game is mother 3) porky basically takes his paradise of a home town and turns it into a mech world, oh yeah and porky also killed his mom and brainwashed his brother and turns him into a robot, who dies. Your welcome... mother 3 is sad.

Porky is one of the best characters from the mother’s series. Mostly in both 2&3. He’s not in the first but he was evil from Gyggas’s intentions and the third one he makes a city, made Lucas’s brother evil, and is immortal thanks to time travel

The only boss from Brawl to not reappear as a spirit, another boss battle, or final smash in Ultimate.
The fact Porky has almost no recognition in Ultimate really makes me want to believe in him being DLC.
It makes perfect sense too, he's the villain of both Ness and Lucas and I think it's time Earthbound/Mother got it's villain rep.
Ninten would be cool, but I can't see him being added before the villain of the two reps already in.

God as I love the Subspace emissary, it has animations, the characters unite well with each other, the bosses do make you feel that there is a danger, it is bad that the Ultimate story mode was not as epic.
Thanks to sakurai oh i dont want to put effort if its gonna be posted. Sakurai everything gets posted. People will still buy the game regardless and most people will wait to experience the story themseleves and there’s usually an unlockable so its necessary to beat it. If people dont have the momey and just watch it what’s wrong with them enjoying your work? Are u saying it only matters if we pay we should get enjoyment from your game? Seeing it has a story might even bring in more people. And people like to rewatch it after awhile as well. Its selfish honestly it was a big part of smash brawl and the speed runs where fun as well. Imagine what ultimate could have done with its voice actors and all but nope we get world of light which is a joke.

I dunno, I think the “scared” part of Lucas’ character was a little overplayed in Brawl. He never ran from this statue, or by extension, even his most disturbing problems in Mother 3. Brawl Lucas would’ve just sat down and died against many of the game’s bosses. Mother 3’s Lucas saw his entire party get decimated with a single strike and still decided to keep fighting. This one witnesses a boy he just met get statued and immediately flees.
I think it’s because he’s supposed to be like how he was at the beginning of Mother 3, where he actually does cry and run away from everything. Sub space is a different world than any of the ones the characters came from so it’s supposed to be like a retelling of Lucas’s arc almost. He gets brave overtime.

The ruined zoo area is from the first mother/earthbound game in nes. While Ninten probs will never be playable, is cool that there are stages from his game.

Porky is as relevant a Mother 3 villain as they could get. He's the main villain and final boss (besides the Masked Man).

I agree. Plus I could have sworn Lucas is younger than Ness when the beginning of Pokey's actions directly affected him. Ness is heroic and brave but I like to see him in this scene as a surrogate older brother protecting Lucas. In addition, Lucas has no offensive abilities and has always been only ever about healing, he relied on his friends to inflict damage. Instead of viewing him as being "weak" or cowardly we really need to awknowledge that he's a kid with no real means of self defense who relies on quick getaways. The loneliness we're introduced to in the very beginning through him kicking a can while wandering the zoo solidifies that he was lost and all alone and pretty much defenseless up until he met Ness.
I guess this Lucas doesn’t have pk love and that would explain something’s plus if this is chapter 4/5 lucas

This cutscene scared me half to death when I was little I swear to God-
It makes sense why you run away from the statue. That thing is near impossible to kill in the real game.
The whole subspace plot is why I really love Brawl. They didn't have to make a story but they did! (Then at the end sonics just shows up like its happenin').
