Erin, @6:45 you explain how you have "made peace with coming home to a flooded house, but you're remaining hopeful that that won't be the case". This is exactly how I've dealt with many hurricanes. I live in Melbourne, FL and have been through at least 8 major hurricane threats in the past 30 years. Each time, we prepare the house the best we can, say our prayers for the storm to pass without incident in our area, and then I do my best to just "let go and let God". I often enjoy parts of experiencing the storm or the evacuation as I love how everyone really comes together as a community to support each other! After all this time, our beautiful little home has remained essentially untouched. There truly is no need to worry about things that may never be!
you guys I love how you're opening up about your vulnerabilities and challenges....It's so refreshing when most of TH-cam never deals with emotions....it's really refreshing!!!!
So glad you appreciate it...we try our best to share all aspects with an emphasis on the light, bright, and happy side, but got to be real and relatable too!
We are a vegan family of 5 as well and we live in Bradenton, FL. We were right in it. Milton was the scariest storm I’ve been in and I’m a native Floridian. It was so stressful, we would have evacuated if we could have. Winds came barreling through, demolished our sheds and ripped out so many trees, even the oaks! We had no power for 4 nights and that was so hard with a baby too! I was praying so hard all night for our safety and it made me realize, I should be praying to Jesus this much on the daily! Not just during a life threatening situation! Jesus is my rock. Yes I totally said that too, I don’t want to be like Peter on the water when he looked away from Jesus and started to sink!! I just need my eyes on Jesus. This hurricane totally taught me so much. I always say, what is God trying to tell us here? I love love love you guys!!! So happy you are safe and glad you sheltered the kids from the stress of this storm. ❤🙏♥️🙏♥️🙏 ♥️🙏♥️🙏♥️🙏
Gosh, so scary. It is definitely a reminder to stay close to Jesus, for sure...constant communication is key. We felt the same way! Thanks for the love!!
This must of been so overwhelming and scary. I hate to see rude comments here. People deal with situations like this differently. I know how freaked out Erin was when they tried to ride out their first hurricane. I can see their overwhelm and anxiety through many parts of this video. You guys are resilient. You made the best of an extremely dangerous situation with three small children. I would have done the same 💜
I was thinking of you and your family. So happy you're out of the eye of the storm but please just keep safe. Sending love light and prayers for you all to be safe.
Thank goodness you are all safe. We live in Tampa Bay and we decided to stay. It was the scariest night when Milton made the landfall. Wind was crazy. Tree limbs hitting the roof. We have a leak and no power but we are all alive ❤
Glad y’all stayed safe! I completely know the feeling Dusty was talking about with the praying for your house to not flood but feeling guilty that others probably will. We live outside of Tallahassee and evacuated a few weeks ago from Helene and that was exactly what was going through our mind. We didn’t want our home to be damaged but we also didn’t want it to damage others’. We were relieved when we moved out of the path but heartbroken for those in the Big Bend area that were affected. It’s a really difficult feeling to come to grips with.
Grateful for you guys! You worked and work so hard to have built yourselves and your lives! Glad all is well! Glad you have each other! God is good!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Thank you for sharing!!!!
God works all things for good for those who love Him. (That includes tragedy, disaster, and destruction). John 16:33: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart, I have overcome the world.”
He works all things for good...damage and destruction is not the end point, it is just part of the process of life, whether it be losing a home, a loved one, etc, almost anyone in the long run will have found growth and a silver lining in the process...i prayed and prayed and prayed for my grandma not to die, but the truth is nothing here on earth is permanent. We have to learn to lean on and trust God no matter what he puts in our path. It varies for everyone.
So happy for your family that your home survived! Bless all the families that were not as lucky. Tough to go through for Florida. Kept you all in our prayers
God bless you guys. 💕 You’re so strong - and still grateful during trying times. Your kiddos are lucky to have you!! Stay safe and keep that beautiful spirit The world needs your light, xo❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Sooo glad you guys were safe and your home was safe 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 as Dusty said, sometimes these situations just show us that we are capable of so much more and that we can deal with it 🙏🏻 and for sure it opens our heart 💖💖
Evacuating is never a wrong decision, maybe a inconvenience but even if the storm misses you completely, that is a better outcome than staying and being trapped (especially with kids). My husband and I live in Pasco county (near Tampa) our entire neighborhood was underwater due to the rivers flooding. Luckily our home did not get flooded as we are the highest sitting home in our neighborhood but even than it came close. We did not evacuate, as we didn’t even have evacuation orders. I’m a native in FL & I must say this has been the craziest storm I’ve dealt with as far as what I’ve seen close to me with devastation. We leaned a lot on God, and it truly restores some faith in humanity when you see everyone coming together to help each other. I’m so happy your family and home was safe.
Glad you, your family and house are ok! I appreciated you taking us along on this journey and you did a great job of making lemonade out of lemons, especially with such little kids.
Glad you and your home are safe! I know it was stressful, but it also makes for a good story to reminisce on in a decade or so. "Remember when we went to Disney because of hurricane Milton?" 🙂
Glad you are ok! We live in Fort Myers and evacuated to Ft.Lauderdale.. It was crazy time. Tornadoes were scary. It’s good that kids had a good time ;)
I needed that word you were speaking about faith. That disconnect from the physical is a blessing in the storm because then you really do need to rely on faith and i need to remember that through the pain. You guys remind me of Romans 12:2, one of my favorite verses. I was vegan, lost my job, started looking for work, which was scarce, ended up at mcds, started eating terribly again and i really want to go back again because i felt cleaner in my spirit not eating what everyone else was. I was weird and my mom called cps on me a couple times because she thinks veganism is abuse. So it was hard to keep up the lifestyle with no outside support. But who needs them, i have Jesus and i want to start feeling better, please pray for me and my family to get back on track in Jesus' name.
I’m glad you posted I was thinking of you the whole time. It’s scary when events make you relinquish your control! Glad the kids had fun, Zoe is cuter by the day! Hope Max feels better. ❤❤
OMG! Thanks for showing how vegan and happy and safe your family is in the midst of a hurricane that some people couldn't escape. Its what EVERYONE needs.
PTL y’all are ok! Been praying lots for everyone! ❤ 🙏 Also love the “Miss Lego hair” comment haha, as we’re total Lego fans here!! Our boys’ fav. But her hair does look like Lego hair, too cute, aww 🥰!! And also Erin, I would’ve been way too stimulated too, 😬 hubs too. That’s why we’re out in the country 😉 🌲 🌳 🐦 🐄 🐖 🏡
Glad you guys are ok and kept the kids away from that scary situation. I live in north port as well and was super lucky to get power just after 2 days unfortunately my brother in Bradenton wasn’t so lucky honestly after this storm and watching the two others out there now I’m moving when my lease is up can’t keep rebuilding this island will sink one day 😢
Thank you for talking about your faith. It’s so important right now in a time when our country has turned away from Him. I truly believe God heard all of our prayers and Milton was not what expected. It could have been so much worse. ❤
Hi, what are you doing for Halloween🎃 with the kids? Are you going trick-or-treating? Are you doing anything special? It would be so great if you made a video about it to give us some ideas!thanks !! Love your video ❤😊 and all your recipe!
We will do something fun with friends...we typically do "switch witch," where you go trick or treating and then leave your bag of candy outside the front door and then the switch witch comes and replaces them with wholesame snacks and fun little toys, stickers, etc!! They love it!
I live in the Fort myers area. The only thing that gave me peace is remembering that Jesus slept in a boat in the raging boat we can have faith that God will protect us during this storm.
Praise God you are all safe. People evacuate in their own ways. @fairywar your name says it all. But i pray you all get back to good health too. Stinks being sick and stressed all at once.
Erin and Dusty are very wise with their money, particularly when it comes to food. Some are acting like they went to this resort and each one ate $25 cake for every meal over four days! As a fellow Floridian this was a smart and strategic decision, especially with the young ones. Also, EVERYONE could afford to evacuate because tons of FREE shelters were open across the state.
I'm so glad your family and home is ok! ---- side note... I bought the Rice Ramen from Costco as well but am struggling on how to use them. I may have prepared them wrong??? Maybe I cooked them too long? Any plant based ideas with them?
Try cooking them in veggie broth and you can also add some steamed or cooked veggies to make it even more tasty, like broccoli, carrots, onions, garlic, edamame, or add some miso paste for flavor.
Everything we shared! We made our own meals for the most part. On the last day we found an amazing restaurant that was actually vegan friendly and healthy and it was at the Animal Kingdom lodge!
Grateful for you guys! You worked and work so hard to have built yourselves and your lives! Glad all is well! Glad you have each other! God is good!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Thank you for sharing!!!!

Thank you for sharing your faith the way you did. ❤ It’s beautiful! And something to emulate 🥰 May God bless and protect you! 🙏❤
Great video. Appreciated the realness of this video, maybe even more than some of your planned videos. 💜 Glad you guys are safe!
Glad your home wasn’t flooded. Looks like you made the best of the situation. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and evacuation tips.

How come God is good for some people and not good for some other people who have lost their houses in the storm?
God works all things for good for those who love Him. (That includes tragedy, disaster, and destruction). John 16:33: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart, I have overcome the world.”
