    I took a long time and test rode a lot of scoters, I have finally bought the Zero 9. It's only after a day of riding (got 30km on one charge) that I fully appreciate the qualities of this scooter. Apart from the stats, the Zero 9 just feels incredibly solid and safe to ride. At 30kph and even at 40kph, there is no wobble and the suspension is superb, making this scooter feel "planted" at any speed. The brakes are simply amazing, a feature that I think is overlooked too often, until a car cuts you off and you have to break within 4 meters, if you don't you hit the car! Lastly I thought deck size was not important, well after riding for a while I realise that I like to move my feet around a bit because it gets uncomfortable to stay in the same position for more than 30 min, I learned that a big deck size is actually great

    Bought the 9 and then had a flat and tried to buy the 8.5” x 2” off Amazon, but none of the tubes were the right size or had the 45 degree valve stem. Amazon had a zero9 replacement they were asking $38 and I ended buying the last one on eBay for $18. Although this is a nice scooter, you have to look at being able to find tubes or replace it with a solid tire.

    I ordered my Rev Zero 9 on April 14th. I was pleased it was available since other models on Rev’s website were sold out like the Zero 8 and 8X.. Two days later and no shipping number yet, I contacted them. Emily, their shipping manager responded.
    “We are expecting our shipment to come in by the end of May/beginning of June. We ship the orders out in the order it was received. Hope this answers your questions. Have a great weekend!”
    This infuriates me. I was expecting it to take longer than a typical Amazon order, but not this. She’s basically saying “Come late May/early June, we’ll tell you what the wait time is...” The “Have a nice weekend” on the end there made me more annoyed. You just disappointed the hell out of me. Do you think it’s a good idea to buy a Zero 9 from AliExpress? They are much cheaper, is there any catch to it?

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Zero 9 is a Unicool/Titan variant, meaning that this scooter is available under different brands from various sellers (reputable and not).
      We don't recommend purchasing on AliExpress in general, as the catch may be you get a lemon (it happens) and have no way to get your $$ back or support to fix it.
      If you purchase for a bit more from a known seller, they'll often provide replacement parts under warranty, troubleshoot issues, or even replace the scooter if it's bricked.
      We have coupons for lots of scooters from sellers we trust, including the Apollo City which is equivalent to the Zero 9.

      I have the Apollo City its the equivalent of Zero 9. I wouldn't go with the 8x based on the electric scooter guide group on fb, always look for dual pneumatic tires 8x has both solid tires less traction in the rain and uncomfortable ride. For me its between Zero 9/Apollo City or Apollo explore both have pneumatic tires, dual breaks, 600W vs. 1000W single motor. Also depends on riders weight, commute. Apollo scooters has 24 months warranty which is best in the industry right now. Hope that helped, goodluck!

  • @LifeSurfingDude
    @LifeSurfingDude 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just a note to everyone out there. Thumb throttle is not that comfortable on zero 9 when you order the installation before it is shipped to you, so honestly triggers style might be way more convenient. So, don't rush into spending additional 80$ on changing it. While Electric Scooter channel has their own preferences, you might regret their advice. Also, when you collapse the scooter, it doesn't take a big amount of force to be applied to the red pedal. Just put your foot on rear end of the board and use your arm to move the stem forward slightly and press on the pedal with your free hand. Just play with it and you will see how easy it is to collapse it. When you setting up the scooter from collapsed position to ready to ride, the bolt does click. Again use your foot on the rear end of the board and move the stem up with acceleration towards the end. There is very noticeable click.
    Generally, I love the scooter. Unfortunately, I had my rear tire go flat on the second day of riding. When I got the tube out I noticed that most likely the tube was defective since it started the crack right around the air stem. the stem is located on the inner side of the tire. Plus, the road from my home to the office is pretty good no serious bumps and it's a mile ride. So I have sent a message to customer service of this company and we will see how they respond (will post later).
    also note that taking the tube out of the rear or front tire should be done by disassembling the wheel. Don't use the pry tools or other tools, it is way more difficult, trust me. Manufacturer video shows using the pry tools, don't ! you will save yourself a headache.
    Also note that scooter is not light to carry around, so I would recommend trolley wheels. I got a pair for me, easy to install yourself and so far I like them. I take the scooter with me to the office and trolley wheels definitely help a big deal.
    update: customer service is indeed fantastic. Like I described earlier, my rear tire went flat. Apparently, there is a design issue as tires now contain plastic piece for whatever reason that sits around air valve. Its edges might cut the tube. That's what happened to me. I ordered two new tubes. The team refunded both tubes after I reported the issue and I should be getting them these week. Responsive, super easy to deal with! it was my pleasure.
    update 3/26: just tested the distance 16.9 miles. I guess the company state more than 20 miles for completely flat surface. when you ride smaller hills up and down from time to time your battery will discharge faster. Also, when you change tires buy disassembling the wheel in two halves make sure you don't pinch the tube and putting it back together. Happened to me, hence, got hole ripped in tube. One more thing, if you ride your scooter daily for a long distance over rough road, it's not a problem for your brain, it is a problem for your feet. They will hurt.
    Update on 4/11/2022: not even put 1000 miles on the scooter and the battery is already bad. after full charge I hardly made 3 miles at 10mph. unfortunately, disappointing performance. Oh and you know what, you will get tired of fixing your flat tires. it happens so often, real issue on that scooter and I don't know why.

    I read several reviews on the website you said to buy these that there have been severe problems with the scooter unlocking while driving. One guy broke his thumb. Apparently the locking pin has serious problems. I will pass on this. Surprised you did not mention this as well as the seat option.

    First of all I really like your review videos on the zero 9, keep up the great work! Your review made me decide on purchasing the 9. I just bought a zero 9 a couple of weeks ago. I have an issue/question.... Do you hear a light "popping" sound when you brake(both front or back), it's not the brakes themselves that make the sound. I think it's the motor(regeneration braking). If you go to settings on P11 and adjust the level to 2 or higher the popping sound occurs. When I set it to 0, the sound is gone. I was wondering if it's just my scooter or if its normal for all zero 9's. Hopefully you or someone that reads this comment can answer this for me. Thanks you!

    please do a video of the most powerful under 30 pound scooters. I have the Booster V with 10 AH battery. it's checks the four boxes of build quality, low weight, range and power. I'd like to see if someone else is giving the Booster V and GT some competition.
    The reason weight is important for me is because I have to lift it a great deal. Even in the office building I work in we are not allowed to roll the scooter on the marble floors..we must carry the scooter which is too long a walk for a 40 pound scooter.

    2 biggest cons on zero9 i have are the screw design mounting of the front bar to the deck. After 1800km with mine it feels very unsafe. The second con is the back and front mudguards that will not pretect you and your scooter in any way on a rainy day. Worst part is in front where all the mud will rise in front of the folding deck system and into the spaces from the wires that goes inside the scooter.... not to mention the back mudguard that on mode2 speed will cover you over the head with muddy rain water.

I got same indecisive issues right now between price as my first scooter, and power, as I’d like something decent for now that can do at least 20mph for $1000, but there’s the Kaabo Skywalker 10s that goes for $1150 only, and comes with a 1200watt motor and peaks at 35mph and has a horn and side lighting which comes in red only! Have you ridden the E-TWOW GT, and if so, how does this Z9 compare? Weight aside, how does the Z9 compare to the 2019 EMove Cruiser (or as I like to call it, the Bruiser). Is it significantly more compact than the Cruiser?
    Yay, a thumb throttle. I don't think the finger throttle is particularly safe. It's hard to switch between throttle and brake levers quickly and when wearing bulky winter gloves, it can be difficult to control. My scooter shot out into traffic today with an inadvertent blip because of gloved fingers.

      Hi Are Vee - we have a GT review scheduled in about 5-6 weeks. Sorry this one is taking so long - we just have a bit of a backlog. I put the Z9 and the Cruiser in different classes since the weight and price is very different. I do recommend the Cruiser at it's weight and price for one of the best overall commuting scooters. It has an upgraded feature-set over not just the Z9 but of most other scooters out there with the hydraulic brakes, IP67, tubeless tires, etc. See our review here: th-cam.com/video/CvDAyvtL2sA/w-d-xo.html

    Chuck, I purchased this Scooter from Revrides after watching your review and I only get 22 mph top speed. I checked my P settings and they are correct and my tires are inflated to 50psi as written on the sides of the tires. I weigh 135 pounds. What am I missing/doing wrong? Nathan from Revrides responded to a post I made on the Zero Facebook page stating that he did not believe the Zero 9 reached 28 mph and stated that is why they list the top speed on their website for the Zero 9 as 22-24 mph. Any guidance in this matter would be appreciated. I am a little disappointed in the top speed of 22 mph that I am experiencing on level pavement.
    Update: It appears that I have found the answer to my issue. The performance/speed is significantly lower if your battery is not charged enough. When I charged to nearly full I was able to reach 28 mph. the Electric Scooter Guides video review states they noticed the drop off in performance after around half of the range or about after 10 miles of riding. Originally my lcd battery indicator was showing two bars used but I only got 22 mph. This display probably is not very accurate as to battery level as when I charged for a couple of hours I was able to get 28 mph.

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Was just chatting with RevRides this morning and we discussed the top speed. Our data is correct and the speedometer on the display is showing a bit less than the actual speed. Of course your scooter may be different, but we are regularly getting 28 mph within the 600ft straightaways we use on our acceleration tests. You may also want to look into the p-settings for tire size and make sure it is 100% accurate vs tire size. Please see all performance data here: electric-scooter.guide/comparisons/electric-scooter-performance-tests/

    • @dennissmith6102
      @dennissmith6102 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide thanks for your help Chuck. When I watched your review again today I heard you say that performance suffered significantly after about half the range was used. My LCD battery level was showing a lot more than 50 percent but I thought perhaps the display was not accurate so I decided to charge the Z9 for a couple hours. After this additional charging was done I was able to hit 28 mph.
      The selling material/buying guide on the Revrides website shows a top speed of 22-24 mph and my guess is that is what they are getting when they test a new one out of the box because even if the battery level appears to be relatively full it may not be that full and performance suffers. When I let Nathan know your data and review stated a top speed of 28 mph he did not believe that the scooter was getting that much speed. Again, I think this is probably because when they have been testing them they most likely have not been fully charged.
      I also noticed that the printed User Manual that came with the scooter stated that the top speed was 27.96 mph. So, it all is making sense now and perhaps Nathan and Revrides can increase the top speed information posted on their website with the caveat that this speed is only attainable for about 10 miles of range as your review disclosed.
      I really appreciate all the great information you at ESG provide. I am also very appreciative of the after sales support provided by Revrides.

    Those are some pretty significant short-comings that would cost rev-rides little to improve. Their willingness to change throttle or add bell is admirable, but comes at a cost to the consumer. At $1200 + Tax, I don't expect the issues you mention to be present. If you accept their build quality you send a message that those things don't matter that much. If they are focussed on customer service, I would expect them to respond to your criticisms. Have they?
    As for the Stem Lock Click...safety issue you sorta glossed over. A lot to like on this scooter but I am not a buyer until all of your issues are addressed. To be clear, I don't believe I should have to pay more for: A bell, Choice of throttle, better stem engagement, lose handle, inadequate rear lights....
