This is very interesting to see a general concept translate to another language proverb. Like, "龙生龙，凤生凤，老鼠的儿子会打洞 " like "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree" in english, or in French as we have something like "Les chiens ne font pas des chats." which means "Dogs don't give birth to cats."

Of course, it won't cause any confusion to use "统统" and "都" interchangeably, but still, I can figure out you are not a native speaker immediately. Well I guess I'm too picky, just never let anyone discourage yourself from trying new phrases.😄

Hi I’m a kindergarten teacher, I taught both english and Chinese language to kids. Regarding why the five year old kid writing igloo and iguana is acceptable, why? Because in kindergarten, teachers teach the short vowel sounds first before teaching long vowel sound. Taking letter Ii as an example, the short vowel Ii is read as /yi/ and long vowel Ii is read as /ai/. Short vowels are taught as early as preschool (2yrs old) but long vowels are taught if not kinder-1 (4yrs old) then in kinder-2(5yrs old) So even though not a lot of people know igloo and iguana, the child will write the first thing he/she thought of which is iguana and igloo because it was what he/she learned for 2-3yrs already.

At least in the US, many different kindergarten teaching materials will use one of those words for I, so it's possible that the child was studying some non-Chinese materials, because native speaker kids don't need to learn more basic words and can instead learn more complicated words in school.
太巧了! When you asked about what words I would pick that start with an I, I immediately said aloud, "Iguana and Igloo". I've been studying Chinese for two years and happen to know Igloo because I read an article in Chinese about Eskimos, but I have absolutely no clue what iguana is... 可见那个五岁的小孩比我聪明哈哈。。。
They really don't. Very good reading and writing. But actual speech is awful. This is true for all other asian countries that teach English from a young age. Some things you can't learn from a book.
The reason" in kindergarten why we don't teach "ice cream" is because the i in ice cream is a long vowel sound which is /ai/ in kk phonics so this is confusing. Personally, I don't mind teaching the word ice cream if they also learn the words airplane, east, oasis and unicorn but most teachers want students to learn short voewel sounds so they can go on to read words like cat, pen, pin, dog and bun. They want students to sound out words so igloo is great but island with its silent s is bad. Iguana is also a bit confusing because it is a Spanish word so the i is a long e sound but this is /i/ in kk phonics. A lot of students can't hear the difference between the short i and long e sounds anyway. It takes a long time for students to distinguish the short vowel sounds so asking them to also learn long vowel sounds in kindergarten may be a bit much. Distinguishing all the different vowel sounds can be daunting. I once said "bat bet bit bot but bait beat bite boat boot beaut" to kids in grade 6 and they found the list entirely incomprehensible. The students need to develop good listening skills or they will never pronounce correctly. Meanwhile, most foreigners learning Chinese cannot distinguish the tones.
i'm not an adult or a parent but imo it's in a parent's nature to worry about their child's future. 5 years is far too early to worry about the child's behaviour, but i somehow can't bring myself to blame her for it, given how competitive everything's gotten. i just hope she hasn't made him sit through hours of tuition and wasted his childhood. i've heard some companies prefer people who aren't very well educated because well educated people demand more, but getting complacent like that is a recipe to a hard life with little pay. i wish the mother and the toddler a life full of happiness and security, and if the toddler grows up to like a job that worries his mother then i hope she'll be able to come around to it and accept it for her child's happiness.
Stick with it. As you learn more slang, it will get easier, and you'll start seeing the patterns of using words that sound the same or similar as just a little tool to be cute, slang-y, light-hearted, or add some personality.
I don't think that iguana and igloo are something weird to write in this age. On the contrary, it's only natural because these two words go with letter Ii when the children learn the alphabet (and ice cream would be strange to write because it has a different sound). And for Vv goes vulture, how do you like that?
It's strange because they are not common words and -guana and -gloo are not common spellings or pronunciations within English. They shouldn't be used to teach a secondary language at a young age.

The first is general commonality, the second is viability/applicability in both cases. For an example, if there’re two formulas to solve the same problem, their 共同点 is that they’re both mathematical algorithms while they’re both 共通 for solving the problem
Know how to write? I was practicing Chinese Calligraphy, reading classic literatures and writing stories for newspapers when I was 5. Yes, it that "内卷".
