Peter Wingfield, as Methos, reads selections out of "An Evening At Joes", an anthology of writings by the Highlander team.
It's cliche, but I truly mean it. This is a man who could read a phonebook and make it sound like Shakespeare.

Man, I do miss Highlander. Connor, Duncan, Methos the whole crew. What a fantastic story.
I agree. Best tv show ever! Many of these stories of immortals were deep and meaningful stories.
@@1moredayof If you really like the subject i like to recommand a classical Science Fiction Novel by Wilson Tucker: The Time Masters ( dt. DER LETZTE UNSTERBLICHE ) it still is available Second Hand. Was a great story about a surviver of a Space Ship who had lived on Earth through the ages.
Regrettably Tucker is an almost forgotten author. The man was really good.

The man should make audio books. I could listen to him for... atleast an hour at a time. At least.
This guy acts like a true ancient immortal. He is never afraid to speak, and when he does speak there is so much liveliness in it even when he's being somber.
Yeah, Wingfield nailed this role to the wall. He just played it with so much truth and heart. People argue about remakes and reboots and stuff but for this franchise, one thing is certain- Peter Wingfield will always be THE Methos.
Actually Peter's idea was to play him as just a guy just any other guy you would meet . Because 5000 years is just too big what would that person be like he or she would have lived in imeasurable amounts of pain ,grief so many ups Downs ins out so he decided to simplify it .
You got to remember when Peter got this part he was in his twenties and I think he showed remarkable for sight for his age.and tremendous range .The director who worked with Peter said that there wasn't anything that they could give him that he couldn't play that Peter was one of those rare people that he had found in his life that can literally do anything play any part and what a unique treat it was to work with someone like him.
I came to be his fan when he became Methos on Highlander, but he is unabashedly one of my favorite actors. It cetainly never hurts that he is Welsh, and his voice has a gentle lusciousness about it, that seems to calm me.
One and only Methos. He IS Methos.
In his words it's good to be a myth.

One can't imagine just how deadened this guy's nerves are to most social conventions that would cripple most of us mentally or physically.
The postcards were the only reason I got the book... and definitely the best part of it.
They really should have had him read all of it.
This is why I love Methos, he always surprises. I love that you never know what Methos will do, but Peter Wingfield is such a good actress, what ever he does, you immediately think, yeah, that's exactly what Methos would do.

I remember seeing some footage from a convention where he actually began reading the phone book... and it sounded great! :)))

Good acting by Peter. I remember that episode this was based on.
The live reading between Peter and Ocean at the con was awesome.
I bout an "Evening at Joe's" when it was first published. I read it so much that it literally fell apart and my dad solved the problem by purchasing me TWO replacements! Methos and Connor are my two favorite immortals, followed by Darius and then Duncan. I love his redition of the first postcard here. I wish they would do all of them and release them!
Postcards from alexa was my favourite story in an evening at joes shame he didn't do it all.

I got it ages ago- lost it, and actually forgot all about it. I was doing a search for Methos clips to show a friend, and found this... and I wish wish WISH they did all the postcards- because it was absolutely heartbreaking and wonderful.
The actors all wrote bits of it. I forget who wrote the postcards, might have been him, or not- but if I think they made it "canon".
Or, everyone who read them decided they were. LoL-
I have to use some of this for my acting monologue. This was so beautiful!!

Yes, you can get the book on Amazon.com I saw it on there just last week when I was listing my book collection. The Novels were really good also captive sole is really good novel with Methos in it.
