A positive electron gain enthalpy (or electron affinity) indicates that energy is required to add an electron to an atom or ion, rather than released. Among the given species-F, O\(^-\), Na\(^+\), and Mg\(^{2+}\)-the species with a positive electron gain enthalpy is: **O\(^-\)**. Here's the reasoning: 1. **Fluorine (F)**: Fluorine has a high electron affinity, meaning it releases energy (negative electron gain enthalpy) when it gains an electron. 2. **O\(^-\)**: The O\(^-\) ion already has an extra electron. Adding another electron to this negatively charged ion would require overcoming the repulsion between the added electron and the existing electrons. Therefore, energy is required to add another electron, resulting in a positive electron gain enthalpy. 3. **Na\(^+\)**: Adding an electron to Na\(^+\) generally results in a neutral sodium atom, which releases energy (negative electron gain enthalpy). 4. **Mg\(^{2+}\)**: While Mg\(^{2+}\) would repel an incoming electron due to its positive charge, adding an electron would result in Mg\(^+\). This process still releases energy, so it does not have a positive electron gain enthalpy. Thus, among these options, O\(^-\) has a positive electron gain enthalpy because adding an additional electron to this already negatively charged ion requires energy.

2:31:40 question answer wrong
Correct ans is 2
Yaa. I to think it so..but I don't know why not answer is 3
No because in O^-2 is attain the noble gas configuration so it is stable so if we remove electron from that we requires energy it's take endothermic
