    Would you be willing to make a tutorial on how you make some of your animations look... Small? The lighting and depth of field in the videos are enough to tell the size and it's super cool looking. I'm not sure you how did it and I am really interested.

  • @voidling2632
    @voidling2632 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    A mesh for a grid?? Shader is better and more flexible... I did one pretty quick but since every comment with a link gets deleted....
    •You basically need two wave textures, one with X, one with Y axis.
    •Both has to be connected to a math node (set to "greater than") Threshold is the line thickness.
    •Both Math Nodes to a RBG Mix Node (Multiply, Fac 1) which is connected to an "Invert" Node and this node goes to the "alpha" of your "Principled BSDF"
    •Emission set to white and done.
    In case you use Eevee, you have to set the Blend Mode to alpha clip in Material/Setting.
    and wave texture, everything to zero, except scale of course.
    •Create two "Value" Nodes, name them Gridsize and Linethickness (you can rename them if you select value node, hit N ‣ label)
    •Conect Linethickness to threshold on both Math Nodes.
    •Connect Gridscale to scale on both Wavetextures.

    • @mrmacnoobster
      @mrmacnoobster 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You can aslo just use the brick texture. Make all the bricks square. Set them to solid white and the mortar to solid black, or inverted if you feel like it. And use that as a factor for mixing an Emission and a transparent shader.

    For anyone like me whose like..the lines dont show up, this doesn't work. You need a camera in the scene, dont ask me why i have no idea. but soon as i added the camera it worked fine

  • @daStig177
    @daStig177 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    FYI - as long as you specify the object, it doesn't have to be visible or active for the lines to be projected onto it. You can actually toggle off visibility for whatever object or collection you're using, provided said object has been specified and just render the line art - this way you don't need to nuke materials or work off a copied object. You also won't get lines visible from the other side of the model based off of how this modifier projects from the current camera view.

    @SouthernShotty, I find this technique worked great and rendered out well in 2.93, but when i came back to an old model and tried to render it in 3.0, i could see the lines turn up as rendering, but the final image those lines were replaced by the colour of the object. The file still renders fine in 2.93, any ideas?

  • @aliensoup2420
    @aliensoup2420 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    What is the difference between using this method and using Freestyle? Advantages/disadvantages?

    • @UnbekanntesSubjekt
      @UnbekanntesSubjekt 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you use Freestyle, the Object can be turned around without breaking the illusion, although its a litte hard to get all the lines drawn where you want to. If you use Lineart, you cannot turn the object 360°, because the lines will only be drawn once and that depends on your camera perspective.
      Technically the Freestyle is added after the render, Lineart will by rendered as you go.
      If you want to move the object around (although you didn't ask for it :) you can use the wireframe modifier.

      I personally didn't find it to be a lengthy process. Of course the first time is gonna take the longest but as soon you're done with the first project, doing everything else will take less than 5 minutes as one simply appends the materials and grid plane from the first project.

    I never loved/hated a program so much in my entire life... As usual there is no "Line Art" modifier on the blender I'm using.. Gotta spend another hr figuring out where it is and/or how to activate it...
    I almost get the feeling either Blender or these "tutorials" are just trolling at this point... I finally got gud with Blender but for years every single video I watched and tried to follow along shows something being used that my Blender doesn't have. (I'm always using a newer version than the one they're using in the video meaning ~ it is not "user error." (at first sure, i was just a noob and bad at it.) But Blender never fails to pull this mystery dickbag maneuver.) No explanation, no obvious work around.. just another 1-2 hrs figuring it out all on my own so I can come back and try to finish the tutorial. Sometimes there's 2 or even 3 different issues you have to stop and figure out... I lost count how many times I've hit these WTF Walls in Blender.
    Thankfully I'm well aware of most by now and have come along way. It's easily the best 3D modeling app to date. Versatile and light-weight but still plenty of power to do incredible projects. Definitely loving it now but there were days of shocking levels of screwery.. Like ctrl+s crashed.. because you saved it crashed. O_____O (thankfully that's been fixed.)

    Why bother to delete all materials on the space station, making it necessary to keep another copy of it if you want blueprint and realistic renders? Or if you have a complex model with many objects? Just create a blue emission material on some object and keep the original materials. Then go to View Layer Properties > Override and choose the blue material to override all other materials in render. The stroke lines will not be affected and stay white.
