My mum is 65 yrs old and i just introduced her to Sigur Ros's music for her first time. She loves them and she just said "This is something special. I have never listened to something like this in the world. THIS is music". She comes into my room and says "Please put THOSE songs". That's how we spend quarantine. Italian mamma loving Sigur Ros
We play this in the astronomy observatory I work at. Imagine being there at night, in the dim red lighting inside the observatory dome, waiting in line to go up the telescope steps, and then seeing your first in-person, real-life view of Saturn, while hearing this music. Transcendent.
I had goosebumps just by reading this! WOW! My 6-year-old daughter wants a telescope for her birthday and when I give it to her I ´ll make sure I play this album!!
came here from a tiktok of a professor having his students sit outside in nature and reflect while listening to this and have assigned myself homework to do the same.
A few years ago, myself and my now wife were in the Sahara desert spending a night sleeping under the night sky while listening to this album. What a memory! What a feeling!
Similar experience, mediating on edibles with a great guy lying on the deck watching the clouds and the edges of a beautiful tree. One of my favorite memories that introduced me to this album. Only hope my story turns out the same.
I’m deaf and I have a cochlear implant, but I never really connected with music. Sure, I enjoy going dancing or to concerts if someone asks me to join in since I did enjoy the atmosphere. It became exhausting straining to understand the lyrics and watching others get raptured by the music. Then someone like me introduced me to this. I can live without music unlike a lot people have claimed about themselves, but I think I would be sad to never listen to this again. So lovely and peaceful.
Going to the 2024 concert in Detroit. My wife will be coming with me even though she hasn’t really immersed herself into Sigur Ros as much as I have. She agreed to come knowing that this music has helped me with my sobriety( 8 years). It’s the only vice that can make me feel euphoric. It’s truly empowering and I’m grateful that I’ve found this “medicine “.
i never got sigur ros until my brother took me to see them during the tour for Takk. i was not prepared. i cried because it was so beautiful and powerful. And they became the medicine for my soul i always turn to in dark times. she is going to be blown away for sure !
The first time I heard a sigur ros song, I was sitting on the floor in my friend's new house in North carolina, the windows were open, the sun was setting and the dandelion and sycamore buds were flying through the air and it seemed very dream like. Then one day, about 15 years later, I was sitting in a stadium in San Francisco, and they were playing right in front of me. I honestly just couldn't speak. The music was so pure!

This album is like the mix of nostalgic impotence, pure sweetness, neverending love and inconsolable sadness that I feel when I miss seeing my mother's face, when I would give everything in the world to caress her only once again in my life.
I come here every time I listen to this album just to read the comments. It's so beautiful to see how Sigur Rós connect and inspire so many people around the world! Cheers from Brazil
Today my teacher English put on some background music and told us that we had to be quiet enough for him to hear the music, I didn't think it was much at first, but then I realized it was Sigur Ros so I have found a new respect for this teacher.
I have fond memories listening to this beautiful album on the Great Barrier Reef, i would wake up at sunrise every morning, put on my headphones listening to sigur ros watching baby turtle hatchlings crawling out to the ocean. Never have I been more at peace with myself and my surroundings.
That's my one hour of peace .I don't understand a word, never googled to check what it means. I listen to it when i need to study, sleep, write, introspect etc. It's the background when it's scary quiet or annoyingly loud around me. It's divine !!!
Wonderful! This is, how music affects me most of the time. And this is one very special example, where music touches my soul and my heart, without knowing what the text is about. It is not necessary, it just works. Beautiful! Thanks. :-)
They're not words. They're just sounds. That's part of the beauty of it. They use phonetic pieces of English and Icelandic and it's all actually nonsense.. just the voice as another instrument. I think that's a huge part of the beauty, is that it's not the words that tell us the story, but it becomes whatever story it needs to be for us.
Man... I was having a conversation with my father and he just started to motivate me to follow my dreams. While this song was playing. Dude, I'm so happy right now.
I saw Sigur Ros at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia. Amazing show. "Festival" was our wedding march song. Sigur Ros really helped me when my brother passed away at 33.
We all are blessed to be here, to know sigur ros, to listen to them, to deeply connect to their music and understand everything without actually understanding a word they say. Sigur ros is an energy that drives our souls to the empty yet filled cosmos.
Listening 2 this when driving around Iceland. Watching the incredible nature! I havent heard Sigurd Ros before. It made the trip THE trip i will never forget. I was a passenger in the car...Just listening, watching the scenery, thinking....and watch the landscape some more! This is truly divine!
What the music told me : « Being ready isn't about being ready. It is about deciding to try, even if I'm not. I don't need more preparation ; I just need more trust.».
I saw them in Melbourne with my daughter. It was the most spiritual thing that happened to me all year, and to watch her watch them, in rapture, made me realise what a gift they are to all people
Personal thoughts from listening to this album : "From time to time, its okay to clean our windows to the soul. It helps approaching all our journeys with a clear vision."
as a composer, even I've learned many music theories and (complicated) composition techniques, i always can not reject Sigur Ros energy. its something absolute, absolutely wonderful art
Fellow composer here, although I haven't learned music theory of any kind (I just go with what I think sounds good). Initially I wanted to fit into a certain genre, but after many years I've come to find that the best music is that which has no genre. It just is. It just exists and lives and breathes like the artists who created it. It needs no acceptance, not appreciation, but it gains both for just being without interacting with anyone in any way. It just is and we love it for being so. It shows us existence as something else than routine. Something that feels alive. Something that feels human and not mechanical and I find that concept in Sigur Rós music, as well as in many others. If anything, it has taught me that music theory in general does not matter. Music doesn't need a theory to exist. It just is.
i bought sigur ros’s second album Takk for my sons 24 th birthday in 2005 he was so bewitched by their music that he bought a ticket to the Nordic realm and has been there ever since producing his own music under the name of Abraham Kenny such is the power of their music
I’d venture to call Iceland🇮🇸an intersection of creation & destruction, both beginning & ending, thanks to its isolation & wild upheavals from within the earth, as well as soothing stillness of its meadows. He’s very lucky to have made it his place while on this sphere in space.
This album contains some of the most beautiful sounds I've ever heard. Each song takes me somewhere I've never been, but feel like I've been there my whole life.
"Varúð" still emits so much emotion. Just has such an awe-inspiring feeling too it. As does this entire album, what a masterpiece so many people have slept on. 💖
It was one year since I was in Europe 2012, autumn, I felt alone on the winter away from my family and friends.. This album reminded me places in my heart I've forgotten, I don't understand much of the lyrics but music and love are universal, aren't they?
French dude here, absolutely loving Sigur Rós since 2002 ! Those guys almost saved my life last year. THIS is my world ! There's hope buddies, there's hope !
If there was ever a validation for the bleak and brutal path that humanity has endured in surviving to this day, this is it. This moment, these sounds; they are arrival at the promised land of the soul.
I play this when I lead my young students in stretching and accessing their chi. Then, we've made a "Cheer line" with two lines of students facing each other and in the space between, one student at a time walks down the center as everyone focuses on them and cheers. It's a beautiful, loving, life affirming moment. ❤ This music really welcomes the magic.
Bone-chillingly beautiful album by an amazing band from an extraordinary country. Love Sigur Rós and Iceland and I can't help but weep reminiscing of my time there alone on the ring road in my rental car.
It’s beautiful as well as fortuitous encounter of a dessert spoon soaked in chocolate and a plasticised bottle on the edge of a heath devastated following a succession of inclement weather caused by a depression coming from Northern Europe !
“Varúð” was the very first song from this band I ever heard, and it captivated me in such a way that I fell so deeply in love with them. Since that first listen, I have never looked back.
Having finished it, I still can't believe how beautiful and perfectly made this album is, never heard of post-rock or Sigur Ros before, but I'm glad I found them, years may pass but this is going to be one of my favs for the rest of my life.
Occasionally I love to go trail running in forests early in the mornings and I’ll listen to this album. It becomes some sort of spiritual journey when the rising sun’s rays are piercing through the trees. Love it
just came across Varud and I knew I had to find more of your music. my heart is at such peace after so much turmoil in the past few hours. I didn't qualify for my Maths exam and I've been so stressed out. but listening to your music has put me at such ease, it's incredible.
I honesly don't give a f**k what Sigur Ros fans or critics may or may not say about this album. It's so beautiful and calm-inducing it almost makes me cry
We are fractal extensions of the transcendent consciousness We collectively create an infinite spectrum of symphonies, of vibration for the purpose of experience We are the youniverse perceiving itself, and thus creating itself. One song One love 💗
Theo Stieve I saw them last year at the Hollywood Bowl on September 24, 2016. It was my first time seeing them live, I'd been waiting three years to see them live. Absolutely amazing.
Going to see them live here in Melbourne Australia in a couple of weeks . Can’t wait . Love all their albums . Best band of this century. No idea what the songs are about but who cares , it’s like angels singing , and the music is just perfect 😍.
I was sort of maxxed-out on Sigur Ros when this album orignally came out and never gave it a fair listen. Just saw them live a few weeks ago in TO and some of the most memorable moments from the concert were when they play tracks off this album, so I've been relistening and discovering all the gems that were almost lost to me. Big Hearts to all.
I first listened to this album in June 2015 at sunrise after doing an all nighter on my final project for Uni (which had to be handed in that morning). It was a completely beautiful way to start the day and felt otherworldly due to my lack of sleep.
I won’t never forget the first time I’ve heard and saw them, here in Brazil. Year of 1999, a jazz festival. Until nowadays.. I can’t describe what happened on that moment. But it moved destiny to another way.. including to visit Iceland. Many thanks 🙏 Sigur Rós!
I love every song in this album, this is the type of music that is rare to find and very few people knows of... Its nice to find more persons who also like it
I feel like a lot of people with anxiety love this music it's really calming like want to listen to the whole thing but it helps me sleep and I have like the best naps.
Who doesn't love Sigur Rós's music?? They sing like a bunch of free spirit-howling wolves flying to the moon until there isn't a tomorrow to chase for after. Right?
mac c. I think some people enjoy the more built up songs with huge crescendos, this one's a bit more stripped back and ambient. Regardless I love all aspects of Sigur Ros.
I used to absolutely worship this band, but nowadays it all just sounds the same and I´m bored very quickly. I don´t even listen to Sigur Ros any more. Shame.
This was the first Sigur Ros album I ever heard. I got here because of it's Alway Sunny in Philadelphia. I have listened solely to Sigur Ros as background music while I worked from home for the past 2 years and now I have tickets to see them LIVE!! I am losing my mind!!
OMG! They were so good last night in Boston. Nearly all of the ( ) album and a lot, lot more! Festival, Sven-g-englar, ekki mukk, Saeglopur, I have had the closing Popplagid in my head all day! Amazing show. And the vocals, instrumentation, and performance were absolute perfection! So privileged that I got to be there! I had to re-watch that It's Always Sunny episode today!
unlike other artists, i can listen to sigur ros over and over and never tire of them. their music is what inspires me the most. takk, jonsi. takk, sigur ros. takk!!
Haven't listened to this in awhile ... really needed it today; helped me clear some negative energy. Also, my cats like this album =^..^= ... or maybe they like how it calms me; brings me peace.
It´s an amazing experience. I listen to Sigur Ros since 2003... When i bought this particular CD i listen to it an entire weekend. My daughter, who had 8 years old was also listening and at a certain time said... "Father, get it loud! I like it very much". A couple months later we saw them live in Lisbon... like i said... na amazing experience!!!
This album came out when I was with someone special. We saw the film festival and then saw them live a few months later. One of the most powerful shows I’ve ever seen.
I was scrolling through the beautiful sentiments and comments and so far see no thumbs down, that speaks volumes. My cat may be dying to this music right now as she lies peacefully sleeping but near her edge. It couldn’t be better music to live or die by. Sweetness, sadness, this world, the other world. Eternal peace or one more of her nine lives, to my sweet Frieda.
My mum is 65 yrs old and i just introduced her to Sigur Ros's music for her first time. She loves them and she just said "This is something special. I have never listened to something like this in the world. THIS is music". She comes into my room and says "Please put THOSE songs". That's how we spend quarantine.

There are 2 types of people in the world, those who do not understand music like this and those who do. Thank God for the latter.

Yes, my first view of Saturn (real life) was quite memorable but this would have still improved it. Love that comment.
We are truly blessed to be in a time where something so beautiful is just a few clicks away.

This album is too raw to listen to with my friends. I can only listen alone. It feels strange to feel so vulnerable around others.

Going to the 2024 concert in Detroit. My wife will be coming with me even though she hasn’t really immersed herself into Sigur Ros as much as I have. Occasionally I love to go trail running in forests early in the mornings and I’ll listen to this album. It becomes some sort of spiritual journey when the rising sun’s rays are piercing through the trees. Love it
One of the favorite bands, so it's a pity that not so many people know about these songs! I would like the whole world to hear this (
Not everybody can appreciate the delicate taste of experimenting such ear voluptuousness.
Still my all-time favorite album. Just as emotional and magical as it was five years ago. Thanks ❤️
There is no other band like Sigur Ros- they are unparalleled, unique and amazing. Jonsi is pure magic.
This album is one of the best in history.
How wonderful. It seems like starting a conversation with eternity.
yesss
Perfectly put.
The most underrated Sigur Ros album, it's a shame this doesn't get the props their other albums get
George W Kush With a buzz is their most underrated imo. People usually hate on that album. They are both amazing albums though.
With a buzz is actually Josh from Twenty One Pilot's favorite album. He says it in a video somewhere on TH-cam...
Yeah - I rate it as merely the 3rd greatest album of all time, all genres - behind Takk and (_).
The problem is Takk is the greatest album of all time
i also love () a lot. it's the only album which they created their own recording studio for
I always cry to this album. It reminds me of an innoccent time of my childhood
I have no doubt: this is the best music, the world has ever seen
Being Sigur Ros fan since 2013 and seen them live on 3 occasions, I feel their music brings transcendence to my soul.
just came across Varud and I knew I had to find more of your music. my heart is at such peace after so much turmoil in the past few hours.
We are fractal extensions of the transcendent consciousness
We collectively create an infinite spectrum of symphonies, of vibration for the purpose of experience
We are the youniverse perceiving itself, and thus creating itself.
One song
One love
💗
Perfect.
Delicious word salad/
Just saw them live tonight in Philadelphia...Mind blown...the level of talent and technology...BEST CONCERT CATEGORY...
Theo Stieve I saw them last year at the Hollywood Bowl on September 24, 2016. It was my first time seeing them live, I'd been waiting three years to see them live. Absolutely amazing.
this album will last forever. it will be a signpost of our humanity for people living in 2050 and beyond.
duncan w craig one can only hope for such a blessing.
Valtari=Roller, in Lockdown COVID-19 climate, feels like we are rolled over by Time, and other galactic powers. Listening to this everyday
It is also the name of a very strong alcoholic drink, the effect comes on slowly but quite heavy. I could use one every now and again.
My english professor suggested I check these guys out. She said they're the only artist she can listen to while writing and not get distracted.
Look for me on facebk, Eduard Eddy
I won’t never forget the first time I’ve heard and saw them, here in Brazil. Year of 1999, a jazz festival. Until nowadays.. I can’t describe what happened on that moment. But it moved destiny to another way.. including to visit Iceland. Many thanks 🙏 Sigur Rós!
This album has a special place in my heart. Then again, so do all of their other albums. Most amazing music I have ever heard.
exactly
I love every song in this album, this is the type of music that is rare to find and very few people knows of... Its nice to find more persons who also like it
'Best band in the world' is pretty subjective, but I feel like Sigur Ros literally is the most talented, best band in existence.
This music speaks to a place in my soul I never knew existed until now.
I feel like a lot of people with anxiety love this music it's really calming like want to listen to the whole thing but it helps me sleep and I have like the best naps.
I thought i can use this album to help me fall asleep but It makes me awake and listed to it all
Who doesn't love Sigur Rós's music?? They sing like a bunch of free spirit-howling wolves flying to the moon until there isn't a tomorrow to chase for after. Right?
Bryan Garban Right :)
wow!
right!
werewolf Jónsi
Absolutely right. If there is a heaven... it’s with Sigur Ros music
Every single day I play this álbum on TH-cam.. Moments of peace and to
think about my life.
I don't get why this doesn't get the love that their earlier albums do. It's so beautiful.
mac c. I think some people enjoy the more built up songs with huge crescendos, this one's a bit more stripped back and ambient. Regardless I love all aspects of Sigur Ros.
It gets it from me, certainly.
They simplified their music too much. Previously, there was Sigur Ros and that was it. Now there are other bands capable of making this kind of music.
Life changing show for me. Absolutely incredible live band.
I had to re-watch that It's Always Sunny episode today!
unlike other artists, i can listen to sigur ros over and over and never tire of them. their music is what inspires me the most. takk, jonsi. takk, sigur ros. takk!!
Ouvir Sigur Rós é certeza que a minha bebê vai relaxar/ dormir. Aqui em casa todos nós adoramos 😍
É bom demais!
This is my emotional muse for writing. So many emotions run through every chord. Sigur Røs are truly masters of their craft.
Haven't listened to this in awhile ... really needed it today; helped me clear some negative energy. Also, my cats like this album =^..^= ... or maybe they like how it calms me; brings me peace.

Inspirational
Yeah, maybe this is not for me
Le temps croule
Je dédie cet espace
Si ridicule
Si insignifiant
( Une parenthèse fugace )
Qui s’oubliera d’elle-même
Ce temps long de chaque battement
De chaque goute de pluie
D’un nuage qui passe
L’Univers nous est inaccessible
Dans sa distance
Dans sa présence
Le temps ceinture quelques souvenirs
Sur un si petit terrain de jeux
Nous détruisons ce que nous sommes
Sans saisir l’importance de notre conscience
De cette chance immensément incroyable
De sentir la vie éphémère
Mais d’une présence formidable
Comment comprendre
Nos sentiments
Les opposés nous adressent des intensités
Sans que nous puissions y faire face
Les constats des contraintes
Un contraire
De la vie

I love all the Sigur Ros albums, but this one is as necessary for life as breathing.
Respect from Russia !
My first listening to someone/band I haven't heard of before. Very moving, excellent.
Dave Hays I highly recommend this band's other work. True masterpieces.
Dave Hays- same here!
I keep coming back to this album year after year. Life is so hard, it hurts.
This music definitely helps smooth out the rough parts of life. Don't give up!
♡♡♡
🤍
Love All your album
Touch my heart greetings from
Cyprus❤️🇨🇾🎼
It´s an amazing experience. I listen to Sigur Ros since 2003... When i bought this particular CD i listen to it an entire weekend. My daughter, who had 8 years old was also listening and at a certain time said... "Father, get it loud! I like it very much". A couple months later we saw them live in Lisbon... like i said... na amazing experience!!!
This album came out when I was with someone special. We saw the film festival and then saw them live a few months later. One of the most powerful shows I’ve ever seen.
one of the most under-appreciated artists
I was scrolling through the beautiful sentiments and comments and so far see no thumbs down, that speaks volumes. My cat may be dying to this music right now as she lies peacefully sleeping but near her edge. It couldn’t be better music to live or die by. Sweetness, sadness, this world, the other world. Eternal peace or one more of her nine lives, to my sweet Frieda.
i will remember this comment forever. Very apt description of the magic of Sigur Ros. Music to live and die by. I love reading these comments.
