I discovered this song on the Vanilla Sky soundtrack 17 years ago. I have been playing this song for my special needs daughter every night as part of our bedtime routine since she was born six years ago. This song is on a short playlist of bedtime songs and although we don’t understand they lyrics she hums herself to sleep to it every time. I just now looked for the video for it for the first time ever. There is really nothing I can say about the way I feel right now except serendipitous.

The people on 1:58 are actually married. They lived a few houses from where i worked here in Iceland. They are truly the most kind and happy people i have ever known. It was amazing to see how little they differ from any of us "normal" people. Spread the love !
Oh, they differ! I'm normal/ordinary, and from the first I saw this magnificent video I KNEW they had an ethereal connection (Oxford: extremely delicate and light in a way that seems too perfect for this world).
My wife's just given birth to our son, and there's an ocean separating us. I'm staring at the pictures of her clutching him so close wishing hard that I were there with them, listening to this song with tears that, thank God, they're ok, and I'll have them in my arms soon.

My little brother has Down Syndrome.. he is the most precious, joyful human being I've ever been lucky enough to know, I love and miss my little buddy so bad, this video always reduces me to silent tears and sniffles.
I met a little girl with Down syndrome in the emergency room one time she was the sweetest little girl, and full of energy, this video reminds me of her. I'll never forget that experience. She was so friendly
I watched this video during an extreme bout of self loathing and mental illness, while on LSD, and it taught me to love myself in a way that changed the course of the rest of my life
Something happened to similar (without the LSD, but plenty of alcohol). But it was ages before this song. My song is The Rain Song by Led Zeppelin. Even to this day I feel it's my life's theme song (the lyrics are a mystery to me, but they can't be separated from the whole of the song). I want it played during my funeral, and at the spreading of my ashes on the Ohio River.
That's a very nice story, it can only take a moment of surrender. I had one sad song that led me to get in touch with a life's sadness due to a break up and not being able to run away anymore. It was Dustin Tebbut- the breach. It kept coming on the radio and it hurt to listen to but a deeper intelligence for once in my life said STAY, leave it on.
This is probably the most beautiful comment section I’ve ever read. I just want to come on here and say this song changed my life when I was 13 years old. I’m 25 now, I was really going through a rough time at 13. I use to listen to this with my headphones and feel better instantly, like I wasn’t in my body and I was connected to something much greater than anything I could imagine. Gosh, i still remember the exact moment when i first saw this video on MTV in 2000 or so. I was thirteen or fourteen, still living in my old childhood house here in northern Italy, during a boring and lonely winter afternoon after i had just finished my homeworks, comfortably collapsed in our big, light blue living room sofa. That was elevating. Never stopped remembering that particular episode every now and then.

The Beetlejuice crowd will be rolling through now lol. Vanilla sky originally brought me here. It was during a time when i was lucid dreaming a lot and was 3 months sober. I ended up relapsing after that time and thats the last memory i have of myself being me. I developed a pretty gnarly kind of ocd after called sensorimotor ocd and some chronic pain. When i heard this song it brought me back to that time. That was back in 2011. Got sober in 2012 and I have a 6 year old daughter now and a wife. I still have my mental issues, but i live with it. Gid bless all
I found this CD during a particularly hard time in my life. I remember: $3.59, I was always so shocked; Less than $4 to save a life. Less than $4 to keep someone going on their second shift of the night alive. I've long since burnt the disc itself out and it won't read anymore however I still come back to this song specifically when times are tough. I don't know why this song just makes me break down and get out all of the darkness but damn, I'm glad it does; the amount of experiences I would have missed and the people I wouldn't have met.
That deep cosmic wash of reverbed distorted bowed guitar at the beginning....is just insane. That's seriously one of the most transcendent pieces of music/sound ever put to tape. Always love when Sigur Ros would dive into a more shoegaze sound. They do it so well...but no where near enough lol. I'd kill for an entire SR album of nothing but shoegaze-centric tunes.
I heard this song on the movie beautiful boy about a father and son facing addiction. It helped me to go get help for others and understand what I and many others have gone through..
My friends and I used to watch this on ecstasy all the time, and it was always an indescribably heavenly and sacred experience, both visually and musically. Those experiences fostered a deep appreciation and immense respect for disabled people that I'm so thankful for. These people deserve so much love for what they have to endure through absolutely no fault of their own.
C'est plein de beauté. Je suis tombé sur ce clip par surprise. Un grand moment de compassion, de tendresse, l'univers musical est est comme un voyage en apesanteur. Quelle découverte paisible et touchante.
People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway. If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyways. What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway. If you find serenity, happiness, and joy in the simple things, some may think you're simple minded. Be happy anyways. The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway.Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway. In the end, it was between you and God. It was never between you and them anyways.
God will bless in this life and in the coming to those who are good and faithfull in the little things.. even people dont respect it God will respect it..
I heard this song somewhere once, and don't remember where. Funny finding it again by accident...I didn't know it was Sigur Ros. Hearing it with this beautiful video is turning me into a heart shaped puddle. I wish the world could all be as tender and intelligent as this music.
I could watch this a thousand times and still have tears running down my face. Never grows old. This video encompasses the powerful force of unabashed joy and love of humanity. We all should be moved to be more compassionate and accepting. This is truest form of art.
This track is in the new Beetlejuice movie, in the scene where Atrid goes on a date. It’s the perfect track. It’s romantic, it’s peaceful, it’s nostalgic, it’s melancholic, it’s just stunning.
this was posted 3 months after the time I was born and my dad has always shared this song with me since I can remember. Every time it plays I have to hear it twice because the first time It lets all the sadness out but the second time I feel peace, deliverance, and freedom. I only pray that this song becomes more spread out and the beautiful souls of this world can enjoy the emotional/spiritual deliverance in which I rejoice in.
Never heard of this band until I took a really long car ride and listening to NPR.... Thank God for that interview... I love this music and it came into my life at the perfect time... Maybe that's what it's all about. Peace, love to all
A few years ago, I bought my brother the nirvana bleach for a few dollars, it turned out that it was just the case, the album was from another band, with nothing on the record with what appears to be a baby / alien in a fetal position. I listened to it several times and it was nice, I never knew the name because Google never identified the track, until now that years later I find this track, which has given me the name. it is something crazy I have unexpected 🧐🍷 This is a masterpiece!
Well they do have an album titled ( ) and the tracks are ( ) 1, ( ) 2, and so on. But not the album on which Svefn-g-englar is featured, this album is titled Ágætis Byrjun.
First time i listened this song when i was attending a concert by Mylene Farmer in Bordeaux July 2023, they played this song during the pre-show! I've been trying to search this song since then and found it by asking Siri. so happy to be able to listen again and again!
Saw this music video on much music's top 100 greatest music videos of all time while staying in a cabin about 4-5 years ago, the day before my sister's wedding. Couldn't remember what it was called for the longest time, searching for a couple years with no luck. Then a couple years ago I got really into sigur ros, and finally found this song. Brings back so many memories every time I listen to it, even now. So glad I got into this wonderful band and finally found this song...
I heard this song in the new beetlejuice movie and I fell in love with it the moment I heard it it sent entire chills all over my body and I knew I needed to find it
Here’s still here in 2020 👽 I remember the first time I heard this song, it was 9th grade and I absolutely fell head over heals for this band. This is one of my top favorite bands 🙏🏼😇
I found this via Shazam app while I was watching season two of CSI. I always keep the app handy when I watch tv. Many times, the soundtracks on different shows touch my heart, and I love being able to learn the names and add them to my playlist
Just turned 22, listening to this song reminds me of my childhood and how quickly my life is starting to go by, I’m cherishing every moment of my life ❤️
Just look at that beauty at 2:30 and 3:23. I mean really, these two are sublime. I don't know what happened after this amazing clip but I sure hope they're together as they have such love and chemistry. Gosh what a clip. Their embrace at the end...gosh, we'd all wish we had that level of love. Urgh...if only hey.
For a song thats about birth it always feels very sad. When I hear it I cant help but to think about loved ones that arent here anymore. Beautifully written and hauntingly catchy
Played this song repeatedly while traveling in Iceland with my son last year. We did a tour of the hot springs (Geosea, Sky Lagoon, Krauma etc.) in winter. The happiest I've ever been and may ever be.
DOM season 1, episode 1 on Amazon Prime brought me here. Only made it through the first few measures before I was irresistibly compelled to do a Google sound search. My eyes welled up with such joy and appreciation of our modern technology for allowing me to find this masterpiece, our humanity, and the soul of music that can carry and spread the depths of our emotions. Haunting. Unforgettable.
first heard this from Beautiful Boy some years back and instantly was hooked....went to see Beetle Juice yesterday and was delighted to hear it again...I get goose bunps and teary every time I listen to it.. and without doubt makes me cry every time.....one of the , if not, the most beautiful piece of music ever made. inspired me go back to Beautiful Boy again last night just to watch and hear it again, as it's used magically..... this video is so beautifully fitting for the music..wonderful xx
I remember hearing this song for the first time 12 years ago, during a very sad night. Without knowing who this music band was. That sad night, with this song in the background, an infinite pain invaded me. Today I listen to her again, 12 years later, and I just want to open the doors of my heart and cry in peace.
I first heard this song 15 years ago at 3:00am after a big night out partying. The film clip left me in tears, the emotion was uncontrollable. It struck me to my core, it made me think of my special needs brother, and what a true gift he is in my life.
One good thing about seeing the Beetlejuice sequel, is that it told me who sang this song. I'd been wondering about it for over a decade. I first heard it on the radio show, "Big Sonic Chill" in the mid-2000s.
Wow. This is magnificent. I find the two lead characters in this video to be so beautiful. Definitely one of the most stunning and moving, touching, things I've ever seen and heard.
rain I was looking for u. Ive known this song for a long time but never knew the title just that it was Sigur Ros so I could never find it. And youtube kept spamming me with the trailer. Mystery solved after so many years.
I am currently 23 yrs old and my old bestfriend al passed away and this was our deep soul song this song is a blessing to have on this earth it helped me through so many hardships in life i found this song when i was 15 and still listen to it ❤
I was racking my brains out trying to find this song for so long, when I was watching the new Beetlejuice film and it was presented to me again, sometimes the universe is beautiful. Don’t know what about this song draws so much emotion from me, I know it tied to something when it came out perhaps a relationship or a really good time in my life. Brings a lot of joy for some reason. The name of the song means “angels of sleep”.
I don't want to be exaggerated !!! but this music video is of sublime beauty! it's in my top! 100 of music videos from the last century! and the music is timeless! when it is performed with this melodic beauty that only the Sigur Rós were able to perform! PEACE! from Portugal to Iceland! :)
This is so so beautiful. Thank you to the band for being so talented but most of all, for making my life so wonderful with your music !!1 ... This band takes me to a place where there's nothing but peace and happiness !!!
I can't believe this album is nearly 20 years old already, where has the time gone? I remember borrowing the CD from my best friend and looking up the lyrics/translations online (pre-Google) like it was yesterday
Wow love coming back to this now and again, the song that got me into them many years ago when I saw their performance on mtv thinking ‘did I just witness a guy playing an electric guitar with a bow’ that is literally out if this world music. Its still one of their rawest and most touching pieces!

@Tim Taylor since Olmecas considered people with down syndrome to be sacred and they belived that nature itself choose them and made them unique among other individuals.

Because it's true
This video makes me feel a lot more than I can describe.
Lee Render we humans can hardly describe what we feel.
Beautiful Boy brought me here. I almost cried when I listened to it for the first time in one of the trailers, then I cried in the scene where it appears and now I'm here crying again
who is beautiful boy?
@@ophelietremblaymovie about a relationship between a father and son and dealing with addictions and unconditional love.
Same. I love this song now.
Thanks, guys, for sticking a commercial in the middle of this. I was enjoying it way too much.

My word...This is so beautiful it actually hurts...
Yes, it hurts in a beautiful way!!
So accurate
leave the words, embrace music
it makes me really think about what the important things in life when when i see how innocent and care free these souls all are, god bless them
The theme music to heaven.
Omg yeah
Yes it is
The Beetlejuice crowd will be rolling through now lol. Gid bless all
Couldn't remember the name of the band.
Both were great with this music!
yes
Who cares what bring them here. Just enjoy the song, period.
Don’t really care what brings me or others to this, just glad we made it at all.
If ya end up there again, I'll send ya a CD free :)
I'd kill for an entire SR album of nothing but shoegaze-centric tunes.
post rock sounds a lot like shoegaze tbh
Yeah that sound is just mesmerizing. Really pulls me into the feels.
Heard this song on beetlejuice and even though it only played for like 15 seconds i was instantly hooked, this is definitely going on my aux playlist
Me too!
This reminds me of a person with downs that I know. He's such an innocent guy. That's what's beautiful about these people. They don't know any evil.
Not all of them... My uncle has down syndrome and has been on top of me.
after 13 years...i can't understand why this music make me feel
weightless. awesome Sigur ros, like allways.
I heard this song on the movie beautiful boy about a father and son facing addiction. It helped me to go get help for others and understand what I and many others have gone through..
This is definitely one of the most beautiful music that this world offers us.
When I discovered this band I was 17 years old and my mind blows! It changed my musical taste. I will be always grateful to this great band.
Back one year later. Nice to see the comments between then and now. Gives me hope for humanity. We might make it after all....

Humanity has suffered and survived far, far far worse years than that one
I've felt the same. Absolutely love Elizabeth Fraser. And I've watched this video since it was first posted.

C'est plein de beauté. Je suis tombé sur ce clip par surprise. Un grand moment de compassion, de tendresse, l'univers musical est est comme un voyage en apesanteur. Quelle découverte paisible et touchante.

What pains me most is I will never be as happy as the people in this video seem to be.

This music is the best gift to the soul. Takk!
I heard this song somewhere once, and don't remember where. Funny finding it again by accident...I didn't know it was Sigur Ros. Hearing it with this beautiful video is turning me into a heart shaped puddle. I wish the world could all be as tender and intelligent as this music.
Vanilla Sky.
same thing for me!
I could watch this a thousand times and still have tears running down my face. Never grows old. This video encompasses the powerful force of unabashed joy and love of humanity. We all should be moved to be more compassionate and accepting. This is truest form of art.
All I can do is repeat what everyone else has said. Their songs bring me to tears because they unlock an immortal humanity inside of me.
This track is in the new Beetlejuice movie, in the scene where Atrid goes on a date. It’s the perfect track. It’s romantic, it’s peaceful, it’s nostalgic, it’s melancholic, it’s just stunning.
I came to say this, great movie btw
this was posted 3 months after the time I was born and my dad has always shared this song with me since I can remember. Every time it plays I have to hear it twice because the first time It lets all the sadness out but the second time I feel peace, deliverance, and freedom. I only pray that this song becomes more spread out and the beautiful souls of this world can enjoy the emotional/spiritual deliverance in which I rejoice in.
I am listening to this song in a park with yellow leaves of autumn. I am very happy. Best wishes for everyone who listens to this song.
ONE OF THE BEST BANDS EVER
Oh Yeah!
EASILY
Anyone who is not touched by the purity and love of that song - and the video, has no heart. Pure beauty.
Never heard of this band until I took a really long car ride and listening to NPR.... Thank God for that interview... I love this music and it came into my life at the perfect time...
Maybe that's what it's all about.
Peace, love to all
For years fan of this song, just because of the fantastic music. I never knew there was such a beautiful videoclip with it.
A few years ago, I bought my brother the nirvana bleach for a few dollars, it turned out that it was just the case, the album was from another band, with nothing on the record with what appears to be a baby / alien in a fetal position.
I listened to it several times and it was nice, I never knew the name because Google never identified the track, until now that years later I find this track, which has given me the name.
it is something crazy I have unexpected 🧐🍷
This is a masterpiece!
Well they do have an album titled ( ) and the tracks are ( ) 1, ( ) 2, and so on. But not the album on which Svefn-g-englar is featured, this album is titled Ágætis Byrjun.
Beautiful boy brought me here and can't stop crying with this
This is one of my all time favorite songs and videos. Such pure and beautiful souls.
I always remember with this song to my grandmother who gone 2 months ago. I love it and i love her so much. Rest in pace.
Just turned 22, listening to this song reminds me of my childhood and how quickly my life is starting to go by, I’m cherishing every moment of my life ❤️
I absolutely love this video. I haven't listened to this song , or even Sigur Ros in a long time. Such an amazing experience to rediscover.
Same feeling right here. :)
+Murderotica Same here [2]! :)
Prima con vanilla Sky ora con beetlejuice … in ogni caso un grande pezzo! Sempre brividi
Beautiful Boy, the movie brought me here 💛

Yes! This is that song I was trying to remember. My old roommate would play this over and over for hours. Great sound. So pure.
The love syndrome:) Honestly this has to be the most beautiful piece of art I have ever seen from a song and music video:)
Caught me off guard hearing this in Eurovision Song Constest: The Story of Fire Saga.
Where is it?
That movie brought me here too and I’m thankful! 🥲
I don't want to be exaggerated !!! but this music video is of sublime beauty! it's in my top! 100 of music videos from the last century! and the music is timeless! when it is performed with this melodic beauty that only the Sigur Rós were able to perform! PEACE! from Portugal to Iceland! :)

Not really sure why, but this song always brings a tear to my eye. It’s so beautiful.
I cannot watch this without smiling and crying. This video needs more comments.
I was so shocked hearing this in Beetlejuice, at least the dead guy had good taste lmao
Okay. So now I have to go see Beetlejuice. Wasn’t planning on it. Hope it’s good.
Loved that scene !! Great taste for a murderer !
Just beautiful - everything about this is perfect.
