If the government wants anyone to destroy their equipment and product then the government should pay for replacement of that equipment and product.....
In this case it sounds like they went beyond their standard operating procedure’s. If government has to reimburse producers because of outbreaks you’ll end up with producers purposely infecting old gear. It happened in the UK during mad cow as farmers were getting paid 3 times the value of their stock. I know it sounds crazy but it did happen.
You can bet a dairy farmer in similar situations would get money. It’s wrong that the powers are given to civilians rather than proper ministry staff. We had these self-appointed brownshirts demand access to our land to inspect someone else’s bees that were on our land. I told them to go away.
No mate they just bankrupt you and sell your farm to china just ask the Crafer brothers This guy living off daddies money only business he could succeed in is one his family gave him.
The staff are the problem. If they got paid based on the amount of honey NZ produces, they’d be out there helping the bee keepers find solutions, not burning their hives.
Sadly it is a Beehusbandry problem Staff, experience . knowledge & sharing gear from small operators is the basic problem . BEUROCRACY cannot fix ground practice by un skilled people! BEES do not care & they do not know what a spore is!
@@richardbruce8111 as they said it been here for a 100 years , if beehusbandy is the problem , there would be no bees . so that makes the government the problem
Hoggard....it's not really my area of things, don't know anything about it .....but I'll make more rules. Seriously an ex bee keeper needs to be the one making rules for bee keepers. The stupidity of things these days shouldn't surprise anyone.
Simply "leaving it up to a beekeeper to make the rules" is nuts... there are a lot of wacky bee keepers out there! its got to be folks with EXPERIECE & WISDOM peferraby SEVERAL

@@richardbruce8111 the bug has been here for a 100 years , so bee keeping not the problem . government is the problem
Probably this beekeeper had an out of control problem … failure to control a controllable issue
well the line being pushed is he had a positive test , an out of control problem would have all bee keepers burning the hives
