Thank you for this video. Really good information and took a bit of weight off me. I'll be going to auction for the first time next month.

Great advice on the 3rd Saturday Chicken Auction. I got stuck with some old sick hens before. I’m a lot more cautious now. Eddie and Ben run a good auction.

Thanks for watching Lauren! I don’t know if I’d call it expertise. Lol. We’re glad our videos help someone. We try to show what works and what doesn’t work for us.

We were headed over, but stopped at Williamsville and bought some stock before we made it. 😂 They do run a great operation in Carthage!

New subscriber here.🙋‍♀️ Thank you for the info and the do's and don'ts. I'm tagging along with a friend of mine to my first auction Saturday. Just going to look around and see if it's something I want to get involved in. My husband wants me to sell some of my roosters, but I don't know if I can bear to part with them.😥 I have a question that you could probably answer for me. What purpose do people normally buy roosters for at an auction? I have a few pure bred and mixed breeds.

Thanks for watching and subscribing Little Bird! We’ve seen that people normally buy roosters because they only had hens and decided to take the next step far as having fertile eggs and raising their own chicks.

Thanks for the reply. That puts my heart at ease a little. All my boys are perfectly happy here, and I would hate to send them off to slaughter. They are all so sweet and well behaved, all except for 1 red bantam named Delmar. He is the meanest little thing, but he is my husband's favorite. I might just tell him, if I have to sell mine, he has to sell Delmar too!😂

Great question Monica. You can probably find local chicken groups on Facebook then ask about auctions. Places that sell live chicks could also have some info. Thanks for watching!

What do you think of bringing unwanted roosters to the auction? I actually got straight runs from my "local" auction, without a solid plan on what I was going to do with the roosters. It seems on it's face that would be more of a "don't". But if someone bought my little guys for 25¢ just to eat I'd be fine with that. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't being a dick.

Great question Vincent! Roosters are totally welcomed at auction. My latest auction video I was actually looking for Roosters. We take our excess roosters to auction all the time. The key is only have 1 or 2 roosters per cage for sale.
