We raise boer goats last fall 5 of our goats were breed and we got about 12 babies we got a 50/50 of does and bucks. We banded about 5 of the bucks and then they became weathers since winter is coming faster then we know it we decided to take 3 of our weathers to the livestock auction me or Curtis both haven't been to a live stock auction for goats & sheep Curtis has been to cattle auction but not at this location. If you are in the goat business you know that goat prices have been outrageously high this year. We did okay at the auction not as high as we thought they would go but still a decent price to pay for most of our square hay bales we needed for the winter.

Auctions are up and down depending on the crowd they draw .. Nice when you hit it right !

Yes we are glad they went we have to many goats, and some needed to go before winter!
Good video! I havent been to an auction in a while. Our local auction house was shut down a few years back. Everyone had to go to another county to buy and sell. Thankfully it did open back up this year!
Why was it shut down? We only have a couple here in Minnesota there pretty spaced out if we wanted to go to a different one it would be about 3 HR drive.
I believe lack of management and interest from the public. The last year or so has brought a renewed interest in local food production. A good thing!

My last livestock auction was horrible I barely got $100 per goat. This year I’m just taking them to the meat market and get my best price ever 4.40 per pound

Having milking goats would be pretty awesome! If I had more time I would definitely get some for ourselves.

I’m not sure but boer is more of a meat goat and the others ones are more pets/dairy I think it just depends on what goats your into?
