This is without a doubt one of the best videos I have seen dealing with fuel line replacement on a Poulan chainsaw. And the reason I am here just happens to be that I have this exact chainsaw out in my garage and I will now go out and fix it! I have also "subscribed" and will now catch all your repair tips! Many Thanks!
Thank you for this awesome easy to follow video! My dad had this exact chainsaw that had been sitting a while and he wasn't sure why it wasn't running, nor did he really have much need for it anymore. I took it and ordered the tune up kit, but your video helped walk me through everything to tear it down and rebuild it. Runs like a top now, thanks again!
Thank You for doing this video - It was very helpful and saved me hours and hours of unnecessary labor. You did a great job illustrating the location and placement of fuel lines. Much Appreciated!
Your the only one who showed how to hook up the fuel hoses, it’s a pain to figure those things out when they have rotted off! Thank You you saved my sanity!
This is great. That is my chainsaw! I love that little saw but it has been unused for years so I'm sure I will have to do everything you showed in the video. Thanks for doing this. The lawn mower shop in my town is awful. Every time I walk in with a tool, they say without even having a look at it. "Oh I can tell you right now your going to need new gas lines a new carburetor and who knows what else. You might as well just buy a new one. I have several to choose from" I dropped off my chainsaw and they called me the next day and told me the same thing and "why don't you buy a real chainsaw. I have these stihl saws over here" I left with my saw and upon inspecting it could tell by the dirt on the housing that he had never taken it apart.
This is the best repair video for this model. Excellent!. With that said my carburetor is stuck against the housing. I will give a light tap to see if that loosens it from the housing.
This video is perfect! Tutorial worked perfectly in my case on a Poulan Wild Thing that hadn’t ran in 10yrs, crumbling lines and mine took two reset turns on the high and low. I had to turn idle screw 1.5 turn clockwise to idle a proper speed so that it’d not die easily. After bout 7 seconds it will die but will stay running if I rev up a lil with trigger throttle as to keep it from dying.
Good job, on the repair and video. I think your process works on about 20 other models of Poulan saws, slight differences in carb, fuel line sizes, etc.Drain the tank and run the carb empty is a good idea, use fuel stabilizer is another, use ethanol-free fuel is another and precludes water being absorbed into fuel and fuel lines don't harden/crack. A good video on mixture screw adjustment would be nice, if you can find time. Keep it up, good advice seems hard to find on TH-cam anymore.
Great video I do not own a wild thing but I do own a Poulan pro chainsaw and this video was great help due to the similarities between both saws. Great video👍🏻
@Hank Bridges HuH? I just had to replace the fuel lines and in tank filter, not rebuild my entire chain saw. I didnt mess with any setting on the carb and I rebuilt that over a year ago so no need to mess with it at all and there is zero reason to replace the clutch, it works just fine. This isnt my first go around with a small engine or a chainsaw. I have just never replaced the fuel lines on this particular model before so I looked it up and here I am. LoL
I bought a wild thing from a guy who never got it to run....Brand New ! Replaced all the fuel lines and voila it runs and very good......Probably not the best but it gets the job done !
I do not like the modern Poulans period ...But I do feel your entitled to positive recognition on a video that was very well made ...So great Job on a very nicely made video . I may not like Poulans because of the throw away quality as repairs are often not a feasible option but the effort displayed in this video was evident and informative . These cheaply made saws in my opinion are a true curse upon the service techs and dealers that are obligated to contend with them as the failure points are almost to numerous to try to list. But as I said previously a great video is a great video and you sir made a excellent video .
Such a funny name for a gas powered tool. The funnier thing is that they even made a 50th anniversary one in 1997, there is one for sale in my area and I kind of want it ...
Well done explanation & video. I'm just wondering if WD-40 is really a rubber rejuvenator, though. If you've been doing that with results, ok then.' AT 205' IS A RUBBER SEAL RESTORER & REJUVENATOR, used in auto trans & power steering SEALS. Put in a spray bottle, has lots of uses for restoring anything rubber. May even be better than WD-40, ON DIAPHRAMS.
Very helpful video, BUT, you didn't explain why the fuel lines and diaphragm go bad. The OEM parts can't handle ethanol. It eventually wrecks them, it also tends to swell the gas cap. If your gas cap won't turn out or screw back in, letting the cap "dry out" for a few days returns it to its original size. Do not run ethanol through these saws.
you should mention about the H and L screw adjustments and what they do and which way and how much to turn them. that makes a big difference and most owners do not know what the 2 things even do.
Thank you for your excellent help. I have an old Craftsman Model 358.351340 chain saw that looks just like the Poulon unit in the video. I do have one question - is it possible to measure the inside and outside diameter of the existing fuel lines and purchase this size of fuel line? Do you think that measuring with a ruler would be accurate enough? Thanks again for sharing your expertise!
For long life and best results use tygon fuel line .080" and 3/32" for the saws that use two sizes and just the 3/32" for one like this one here. You can find it in the repair section at farm&fleet or hardware stores. Maxpower brand has it in 2' and 10' lengths, it is the real stuff made by Saint-Gobain, be careful when buying online as it may be a fake copy and not the same quality. The 10' part numbers are #334181LP for .080" ID x .140" OD and #334180LP for 3/32" ID x 3/16" OD, if you're doing one saw then get the 2' versions as you'll probably use about half of that. Also use a Oregon (made in USA) or walbro OEM carb kit, they are a better product than the others. Just add the proper amount of Seafoam to your premixed non-ethanol rec gas, this will help prevent issues in the future. Make sure to start and warm up your engine a few times a year if you're not using it. The cheap stuff may work or not but will definitely not last as long.
Great video so I have a question what if you cleaned the carburetor changed the spark plug and it doesn’t stay started. Should I check the gas lines or even the fuel filter.
I have a poulan 2075,which is basically the same thing,do you know the max rpms of these saws,I looked everywhere and can't find it,awesome video too,I love these saws
run it empty at season end and always use ethanol-free gasoline with 5w/30 synthetic oil... usually at 40-45/1 ratio. Car gasoline will gum up a 2-cycle engine.
I second your comment small engine shop as I have been obligated to repair many over the years . Thank god my boss came to the conclusion he did . These saws are complete junk dare I even say shit straight from the box .Often in very short order or time the customer will experience troubles witch leaves many with buyers remorse . I have seen just about any if not every problem that plagues these curses . Carbs that have there check valves swell , leaking seals, striped oilers, starter recoil assembly failures ,fuel line deterioration , swollen gas caps that are hell to remove , Bonded fuel cap tank vents that swell then actually bond due to modern gasolines affects on vital viton or neoprene . These saws are so cheaply made that even premixed fuels in cans don't even eliminate these issues . Truly sad that Husqvarna as a parent company continues to push theses pieces of shit and sale them under different brands as well as colors ….What really pisses me off is there cop out mentality when approached with a warranty issue . I have seen on many Poulans that the piston ring locater pin has came loose and scored the cylinder as well as chipped out a small piece of alum from pistons top . And when pics are provided to these crooked bastards they still insist it isn't a warranty . It got so bad at one point we had 3 Poulans with broken crankshafts {clutch side } that had actually broken off …...Yes your reading this correctly …..Broken off and had to provide pictures of each …...Be mindful this wasn't the issue but believe it or not they didn't wont to give warranty relief on one because the clutch sprocket appeared to have been warm …..{WTF …..Seriously was my bosses reply to Poulan / Husqvarna} And ever since we have been Poulan free of issues ….. Trust me Poulan / Husqvarna are the most greedy evil S.O.Bs We every had the displeasure of dealing with ...I should keep this about Poulan but to even further provide insight on Husqvarna …..They push obligated sales …….Whats obligated sales you might ask ? Let me explain … We had Redmax , and Jonsered as lines in our shops …..We purchased many saws and trimmers of each to sale in shop but guess what Husqvarna did to obligate sales on there dealers …..They would periodically change sales reps and item inventory amounts that were expected in house or shop to hold a desired brand . I truly hate Husqvarna as a company for there actions as sales are all they concern there selves with .Even forcing by obligation higher amounts of there item inventory to carry certain brands sold by them as a parent company .

After hours later I go back to the chainsaw and I can push it in again but only one time . What’s wrong? I have never seen this. Only thing I seen out of sorts was in the tank on return line there was a coupler from what it looked like so I attached it to the new line like it was but I think it may be sitting in the gas not sure

In your video that seems to be for the fuel filter, but there seems no way it fits on the filter. Could it be the longer one on the primer bulb goes to the thicker line (on the right) and onto the filter?
@@HomeGaragechannel so the gas is drawn through the narrow tibe on the left to the carb on the right and returns to the tank on the wide tube at the righ t
the slimy stuff should be old 2 stroke oil mixed with some gasoline. You can prime it as many time as you want, it will only move Fuel from the tank to the carb and right back to the tank.
I have a McCulloch se2000 when I pump the primer bulb to prime it the bulb collapses and won't return and I'm not getting fuel, what could be the issue?

Thanks for the video. Good detail, very helpful. I have the 2375 saw. When I took mine apart it looks like the return line from the primer to the tank is bigger than the others. Did you find that as well?
Great video. Question, are all the fuel lines the same size for this model saw? I need to replace mine and am wondering what size to purchase. Thank you gain for a great video
will it stop if you're just letting idle or only when you're cutting? if it when it's cutting, have you confirmed that the bar is getting oil? if it's not getting enough oil, the bar and chain could get too hot and lock up.
@@HomeGaragechannel I have a 1989 homelite ranger and can’t find the right carburetor if you could do a video on the fuel line placement for a homelite that would help

Thanks for the video. Good detail, very helpful. I have the 2375 saw. When I took mine apart it looks like the return line from the primer to the tank is bigger than the others. Did you find that as well?
This particular saw both of the lines were the same size so no I haven't seen that before.
@@HomeGaragechannel , mine also has two different sized lines
@@allengregory4067 some do
@@HomeGaragechannel , I made the comment about two sizes because you said you never seen that before
@@allengregory4067 thank you for letting me know.
Great job
thank you Jim S for the comment I appreciate it
Great video. Question, are all the fuel lines the same size for this model saw? I need to replace mine and am wondering what size to purchase. Thank you gain for a great video
Thank you for the comment. Yes they were all the same size 190" or 3/16".
@@HomeGaragechannel thank you :)
No problem
@@HomeGaragechannel , mine had two different size lines
@@allengregory4067 some do.
Good video ,I got one of those things too .
Thank you Chris's small engines for the comment. I appreciate it. They are great saws.
What if it primes up once or twice then primer bulb can't be pushed after that
There's a problem in the carb or the fuel lines.
Very good, vid,thanks, I'm on it,👌
Thank you for the comment I appreciate it
I wish someone would explain how the chain oilers work on these saws. I have one and it’s not working
me too
what is diameter of the fuel line you used?
Its .190" or 3/16". Just depends on how the manufacturer shows it.
@@HomeGaragechannel , mine had two different size lines
@@allengregory4067 yes sometimes equipment need two different sizes so some kits have a .140" and .190"
Thanks I appreciate this video have to do the same thing to my poulan
Thank you jim McLean for the comment I appreciate it
Thanks, I have a Pullin', too...
When primer bulb is not working, the engine will start or not Sir?...
sure, as long as the fuel lines are not broken you can either replace or service the carb.
First! Great repair 👍
He's fast.
Useful
Thanks
I have a a poulan model p33 14 it starts it runs gets hot and then stop could you help me
will it stop if you're just letting idle or only when you're cutting? if it when it's cutting, have you confirmed that the bar is getting oil? if it's not getting enough oil, the bar and chain could get too hot and lock up.
@@HomeGaragechannel won't idle have to stay on throttle plenty of bar oil
I would replace the Carb and the Fuel lines and Fuel filter. kits should be around $20 online.
Well, it's a Pullin'... xD
Very true. Thanks for the comment I appreciate it
A chainsaw with broken fuel line usually doesn't look so clean. Hmh... Anyway, thanks for this lecture!
Thank you for the comment.
This chainsaw has bright colors
Thank you Latrell Dixon for the comment. The first time I saw this saw I thought the 90's came back.
It definitely is unique in a world of solid colors.
What size fuel lines? If anyone knows?
3/16" OD
Pull on that’s the way mine works
I got all my lines connected but still won’t pump
did you do any work to the carb too?
Yes it won’t even come close to want to burp on choke
what all did you do to the carb? if you tried to rebuild it, then would replace the carb.
@@HomeGaragechannel I have a 1989 homelite ranger and can’t find the right carburetor if you could do a video on the fuel line placement for a homelite that would help
that's very specific and if I can I will definitely try.
Should of tested the primer pump before you started putting things back together..
Yes you are correct I should have tested it. Thanks for the comment I appreciate it
He said it if you listened to it ..
