The Magicians is a rare show that has a musical episode in every season. They also do an ode to Quentin with "Take Me On." You can do multiple reviews of this show if you wish. Thanks for this one.
Oh yeah do all of them please!!! There is this one when Margot and Elliot are singing on some kind of desert or something? And it's literally SO AMAZING
The Magicians: if you took a bunch of irresponsible college students already struggling with adulting and then also gave them magic and access to other worlds. An absolute must watch!!
In the novel they are so bored with their underachieving lives that they go to a world that never wanted them, pick up a quest that they didn't need to do, pick a fight with an overpowered monster that wasn't a threatening them and get their asses kicked for reasons that only matter to their petty egos.
There's actually an episode later on in season 4 where Maro goes on a nomadic vision quest where she keeps hallucinating her friends just singing and there's a cover of Here We Go Again that's pretty great and then they sing There's a Storm Coming by Mitch Greenhill and their version is literally a hundred times better than the original.
I love the look on Eliot's face when they start singing 'Under Pressure' he's just like "Well, if we're going to do this, I might as well give it everything."

Check their cover of Take on me (You may cry), and also, One day more (yep, les mis)

To be fair, the blonde spent like a whole season as a soulless magical monster fucking up everyone's lives. And she became that soulless magical monster on purpose. She deserves the attitude.
Well there's that, but that was initially more out of necessity. She liked the power trip afterwards and had to rehab to be a human again. She did other real fucked up things afterwards, and entirely on purpose.
You’re on the right track with the Lion, the witch and the wardrobe! Fillory is basically a dark copy of it m. Edit: Also on the right track with Harry Potter! Was definitely an influences for Levi Grossman.
"Dr Horrible's Sing-Along Blog Full" is available for free on TH-cam. Just do a search for the title. It was made during the writer's strike in 3 parts. The Magicians have a number of episodes with one or more song/dance numbers as in a number of cases music is needed for the Quest they are on or to cast a spell. Season 4 Episode 10 is a musical episode. 4+ songs. Season 4 Episode 13 has a farewell song at around 33 minutes. If you want a little more understanding watch from around 25 minutes on.
PLEASE do one on either "One day more", "Take on me", "Don't get me wrong", and/or "Here I go again". All four of them are really good renditions of their songs in my opinion. (Massive spoiler warning) Take on me is made into a sad song because it's an ode to a dead-dead character and it's so good. Don't get me wrong has more of Eliot (Hale Appleman) (the dude on the boat who sang the high notes) and it really shows off his talents, even more than this one did. And Here I go again just has more of everyone. One day more is just a really musical-style song, again, with a bunch of Eliot. Also I really like the way you watch shows, especially when you have no context and the story is in an absolutely non-sensical and complicated place. The Google summary is for season 1. Watch The Magicians it is one of my all time favorite shows. Be warned there is a sexual assault storyline, so if that is at all triggering to you just be aware. I highly recommend this show. It rules.
There's that storyline, but it also shows her struggle to have to live with it forever and maybe even overcoming it. I think it was really nicely painted out, though sometimes can still be a bit intense. So, fair trigger warning, but there's more to it as well.
Jade Tailor (Kady in the Magicians, with the sparkly dress) has a 4 octive range. The Magicians has another musical episode in season 4 titled "All That Hard, Glossy Armor" which I would love to see you do a react video to as well.

I always looked forward to the musical episode each season. They're all interesting, if not good. The later seasons got better, and Jade Tailor is always great.
This show is HIGHLY suggested to binge!! Once you understand the background fully, you will be able to see these scenes in an entirely new light! Emotion is much stronger after following the story in full!! I would love to see a follow-up after you binge the show!! There is a strong tear jerker at the end of season 4! Spoiler alert!!! PUH-LEEEEASE watch their other musical episodessss they have one per season and 5 seasons total so likeee... and if you liked this one, i rly think you'll love the one from season 4 :))
When Hannah said "I don't like this guy." Referring to Quintin, I actually agree with her, and that's the point. Quintin is not the hero type, he wants to be a hero, but he's not fit to be a hero, he tries so hard to be "The One" making him kind kind of unlikable, and that's ok. The Magicians is just what the name of the show implies, It's about the magicians, not Quintin, not Julia, not Alice or anyone else. Each and everyone of them are equally important. And you don't have to like Quintin, cus he's supposed to be unlikable, so is almost every other character. They're all incredibly flawed people, and it's ok to not like your protagonists.
I love QuEntin the most, so can't say I relate to the feeling of disliking him. He's not supposed to be unlikable, just flawed like all of the other protagonists as you've said, a work in progress (and while not a full-fledged hero, he has shown heroic qualities and actions). And, at this point, didn't Alice betray them (need to do a rewatch to be sure of the details)? Didn't they have good reasons to be snippy with her then, including Quentin, who wasn't being jerkish because he's more jerkish than the others, but because of the circumstances? Alice's cool, I like her too btw.
I watched the whole show multiple times and still don't get everything. The show is completely chaotic but in a beautiful way. Its what makes this show what it is and I love it that way! My favourite musical seasons where the two on a drugged reptile when Margo is in the dessert and became the most Badass girl you will ever see.
The Magicians has great musical episodes! They’re fun. There are also episodes I wouldn’t call “musical” but there’s a musical number in them that are worth watching, like s2e9 and the s4 finale.
This is such an interesting episode to randomly see without any context at all. This show had so much going on all at once, there's no way anyone could understand what is going on at all without watching the build up to it.
The Magicians season 4, episode 10, “All That Hard, Glossy Armor” you do need to know Eliot (the king on the boat) has been possessed by a monster for the whole season and Queen Margo (queen on the ship) and Eliot are BFFs and not “together” although they’ve enjoyed each others’ flesh.
THANK YOU!!! I love this!!! You HAVE to do the other musical episodes especially 4x10! Jade tailor (Kady aka sparkly dress lady) and Eliot (king on the boat - not margos bf btw) are amazing in it and Margo (eyepatch) has the most amazing monologue that never fails to hit me hard!
So I've been off youtube for a week and OMG I missed this. The Magicians is pure chaos. When I first started it I thought it would be like a grown up Harry Potter and it got hella dark. There is really no synopsis that could prepare you for watching it without context. This song, Take on Me, and One Day more are my favorite performances from the show.
I love The Magicians and it has that special place for a show in my heart. I was going to request this on your Google Form until I saw this. This show when it come tot he musical episodes has evolved as the show progressed. It starts with literally one character singing, Q in Season 1 to Taylor Swift's Shake It Off, to the whole cast singing as a way of communicating through a robbery heist with multiple dance numbers. It is a lot.
That is also why when you said, "The Magicians musical episode" my go-to response was "okay which one?" All That Josh is a good pick but I would have chosen Season 5's episode, the Heist episode I talked about in this comment, because you really get to see each character's moment and solo/ duet moment. All That Josh is still a really big talked about by cast and fans
This show is so criminally underrated. It must be incredibly difficult to follow just the musical episodes though, without any context. Out of all of them the one with Margo in the desert is probably my favorite, though the way "take on me" makes me feel has been forever altered.
oh, how much I loved The Magicians and their covers! Two of my karaoke songs (unplugged version of "Take on Me" and "Under Pressure") are inspired by their covers.
Honestly, you will never know how satisfying it was this for me to watch, like the fact that i love that tv show and i love to show it to others , you here discovering it and getting excited was so so cool hahaah
The one thing I can say about the show is that they do FANTASTIC musical episodes. I have a lot of issues with the source material and the way the later seasons play out, but the musical episodes are amazing
I love you, Hannah! Tbh you've really helped me through a dark time of my life. Thank you for being such a good influence without even realizing it... love you!

Emotion is much stronger after following the story in full!! I would love to see a follow-up after you binge the show!! There is a strong tear jerker at the end of season 4! Spoiler alert!!! I suggest binging before watching that episode!! :)
So happy you are doing The Magicians! More plz! Thank you so much for this, it's one of my favorite shows because I love both music and fantasy and they do both so well.
Please do the rest of the musical episodes for this show. Please
I’ve been secretly hoping you would do the magicians 😁 The more I watch the show the more Margo is my absolute favorite 😆
Dude this episode gave me life. Honestly all the musical episodes make sense.
Also they sang under pressure because of the concert Josh couldn’t go to. It was to show they cared and wouldn’t leave him behind again
PUH-LEEEEASE watch their other musical episodessss
they have one per season and 5 seasons total so likeee... and if you liked this one, i rly think you'll love the one from season 4 :))
I was never big on Within Quentin but the show was never the same without him
I love QuEntin the most, so can't say I relate to the feeling of disliking him. Alice's cool, I like her too btw.
ugh now i want to rewatch this show, it’s so good 😭
Hannah please watch the rest of the musical episodes! They’re so good!!
I love the “why is everyone so mean to the blonde girl?” Because she’s literally the worst.
I liked her . . . until she had her "issue."
Hannah we really need more reacts for magicians ❤❤
When the Magicians is literally your favorite show of all time and your comfort characters are a bunch of depressed grad student magicians. That’s me.
Agreed.... Also wish she'd do the one with Margo in the desert with the cast in her head. Jade Tailor and Brittany Curran KILLED it!
This is one of my top 5 favorite series. Cannot recommend enough!
You should do the second musical episode and also their version of Take on me, which is a stand-alone in another episode, and it's beautifully sad
i literally just watch one of her videos and now im obsessed 😭❤️
I watched the whole show multiple times and still don't get everything. The show is completely chaotic but in a beautiful way. Its what makes this show what it is and I love it that way! My favourite musical seasons where the two on a drugged reptile when Margo is in the dessert and became the most Badass girl you will ever see.
There are actually a handful of musical episodes. Or rather, episodes that they just happen to have musical parts. They're all pretty fantastic.
Be careful with negative comments at quintin. The Fandom loves him dearly
I get it. Q out of context is hard to appreciate
The Magicians has great musical episodes! They’re fun. There are also episodes I wouldn’t call “musical” but there’s a musical number in them that are worth watching, like s2e9 and the s4 finale.
This is such a phenomenal show!!!! Perfect acting, comedy, plot, it’s amazing! I’m so happy you’re reacting to this
This is such an interesting episode to randomly see without any context at all.
YES I'm so glad to see this one this is one of my favorite shows and they have other musical episodes too!
thank you for reacting to this! i think their season 4 musical episode is amazing as well!
It's great to see the Magicians getting some love. I'm so surprised that the show doesn't get more love from reactors.
You dont even know how good this show is!! Especially the musical episodes 😀
The Magicians sing take on me and it makes me cry. And they sing don't get me wrong and others they're amazing
Do their Les Mis episode too!!! There are lots of other characters involved to critique so it would be like the same as this
STOP OMG THE MAGICIANS AHHHHHHHH TYSM HANNAH THIS SHOW IS SO UNDERRATED
Only person i’d watch 3 youtube adds for and wont even think about complaining 🥰
THE MAGICIAANS!! i love this show
This show was so good Margo always be a icon
This show is such an amazingly fun ride and very rewatchable.
Are we ever gonna get the lucifer musical episode? Can't believe the series is over😭
So I've been off youtube for a week and OMG I missed this. The Magicians is pure chaos. When I first started it I thought it would be like a grown up Harry Potter and it got hella dark. There is really no synopsis that could prepare you for watching it without context. This song, Take on Me, and One Day more are my favorite performances from the show.
The Magicians have several musical episodes. There’s like one every season lol
If you just did show reviews on TH-cam or Patreon I’d still watch
This show is so criminally underrated.
It must be incredibly difficult to follow just the musical episodes though, without any context. Out of all of them the one with Margo in the desert is probably my favorite, though the way "take on me" makes me feel has been forever altered.
the way i clicked so fast you made my day
oh, how much I loved The Magicians and their covers!
Two of my karaoke songs (unplugged version of "Take on Me" and "Under Pressure") are inspired by their covers.
omg. Season 4 musical episode is the best one. Please react to it. Thank u for ur videos. We love uuuu
Honestly, you will never know how satisfying it was this for me to watch, like the fact that i love that tv show and i love to show it to others , you here discovering it and getting excited was so so cool hahaah
PLEASE REACT TO LUCIFER'S MUSICAL EPISODE
the magicians is such a good show u should watch it fully😭
You should check out Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist
The one thing I can say about the show is that they do FANTASTIC musical episodes. I have a lot of issues with the source material and the way the later seasons play out, but the musical episodes are amazing
There’s a much better musical episode of the magicians
just seeing this but could you do the other episodes where they sing as well? They have many music episodes or at least ones where people sing
I feel like you would like this show a lot and you should definitely watch it… (gore warning)
I love you, Hannah! Tbh you've really helped me through a dark time of my life. Thank you for being such a good influence without even realizing it... love you!
