I love the side of the laptop with the same thickness metal finish going around, similar to Lenovo z13/16. More laptop companies should move away from making pointless ugly tapered edge design and move towards designs similar to this or at least make the sides same thickness throughout

Please do more testing on the battery life, the most I could get out of this laptop was about 3 hours with regular use. I also have the GPU off most of the time to help save battery but it doesn't really do anything. I have had this laptop for maybe 2 weeks now and it has been like this since day one.

    • @Hoopladoopa

I’ve had this laptop but the smaller 71wh battery and 1920x1200 (switches between 165hz or 48hz) screen for about 3 weeks and I’m able to easily get at least 6 hours for productivity work. Quiet mode, iGPU only mode, 48hz refresh rate, battery saver mode on, screen at 70% brightness, keyboard lighting off, “USB always on” option set to off in Vantage software.

I'm about the same. It gets through a 2 hour movie pretty much. But that's at max or high brightness. I use advanced Optimus so the screen should be 60 and igpu only. So I just keep it plugged in most of the time. One thing I did buy was the 135W charger. Makes it more portable if taking it to coffee shop etc and can still plug it in. I bought it primarily for gaming while traveling, so portability was important to me, but battery less so cos I'm using it in my hotel rooms mostly for gaming and working.

  • @MrPineappleGuy

I love the design... it looks much better than the 7 non-slim version, IMO. The screen size is perfect, the brightness is great, the 16:10 format is awesome.. With an i7 and a 3070ti (or equivalent) this is ideal for my use.
An obvious deal breaker is the RAM-configuration. I'd appreciate more than 16gb.. 32gb would be perfect.
Another problem is the lack of a displayport compatible usb-c port on the back, next to the power-, hdmi- and usb-A-inputs.
If they keep the design (or make it look even cleaner.. fewer and smaller logos, etc.), add a displayport compatible usb-c port on the back and improve the RAM to 32gb, I'll buy it.

Has Lenovo said anything about getting you the AMD Advantage Edition with the 6800S? I'd like to see how that fares against this one, not to mention it undercuts the G14 by a lot and is easier to use with a monitor at home depending on how you set it on the table (ie HDMI on the back).
I'm thinking performance is comparable but AMD tends to get partners to use a vapor chamber? AFAIK only the Delta 15 with 6700M, and the Omen wtih 66x0M are the only ones that use heatpipes among the Advantage laptops.

I tried out a Lenovo legion 7i slim Gen7 for about a week and I loved it.
I initially bought the 3060 version which I was very happy with but realized that, as of right now on the U.S. website, there is a HIDDEN OPTION for a rtx 3070 that appears only when you select the extra 8gb sodimm ram (for 16gb total including the soldered ram) AND the WQXGA (2560 x 1600) screen. they do specify this is available but you access these options by choosing to “build your own system” which says is only “available with up to an rtx 3060.” Somewhat misleading.

It's problely not a good idea to choose 3070 version, with the same cooling(100watts on gpu), RTX3070 lose more than 30% of performance than full-power-version, which means it's actually only have 10% upgrate than RTX3060 version. It's not cost-effective with the same price than other gaming laptop in the same version.

Only things I'd disagree with from owning this model is I found it easy to get inside to install a second SSD, I find it gets pretty hot unless you raise the back of the machine or use a cooling pad and I don't find the battery life great (though I usually have the brightness at max so that might give a very different result to your testing and I never remember to turn the screen to 60hz when in battery mode).

My CPU temps get in the 90’s for games that shouldn’t be too CPU intensive and it makes me worry about the longevity of the device. I have tried changing the performance mode as well and I think it may be due to the simple fact it being slimmer. I may purchase the 5i pro instead, hopefully the bigger chassis will allow for better cooling.

Hopefully there will be still some fullhd Legion slim laptops in 2022. In my opinion, the QHD is just a waste on so small screen, I compared it personally, there is only tiny difference but battery life and performance is worse when using native QHD. Of course you can switch to FullHD, but that seemed to be just too unclear for me, ugly.
And videos seemed to be laggy on QHD or on FullHD on QHD panel.

It's actually a pretty good qhd performer in games with DLSS or FSR. Playing far cry atm with high settings at QHD+ with FSR Quality and getting around 80fps. Same with spiderman, although when you add ray tracing need to drop down to 1200p. I can't say I notice that it looks bad at 1200p though; worse than QHD of course, but I thought that was just the drop in resolution.

The trend of soldering half the memory to the motherboard in these tiers of laptops needs to die out FAST. I get doing it to an XPS, Zenbook, etc, but gaming laptops should not be limited by such constraints. Imagine buying this machine and realizing that in 2-3 years, even if the 3060 is enough for gaming, the 16GB memory isn't, and you're held back by that alone. It truly sucks. :/

The worst laptop I have purchased till now. I have used lots of laptops before. But this laptop does not meet the basic expectations.
I bought this laptop in India for 140000 apx.
Brightness level 6 or above cause pain in eyes and
Brightness level 5 is too dim , whichever mode your are , whether you are in balanced mode or gaming mode.
Gaming experience is GOOD, but other stuff like using excel, watching movies youtube etc you may find irritating as the display is very unpleasant in terms of brightness, color reproduction or in general the viewing experience is not good. But again when I play games I dont feel this and gaming experience is Good.

1:20 "they only measure at the thinnest point but I didn't find it that much thicker". Wow really?? Because the thickness you list a few seconds before say it's 17mm thick and then as you say that you're showing it being measured at 26mm. That's a hugeee difference, thats MORE than 50% thicker! More than a whole extra half a laptop in thickness. Am I reading this wrong because hows that not much thicker? I've just been through several reviews and they all say it's only 17mm thick too, plus all the marketing material, but your videos the first showing it's 26mm thick and even then it's glossed over.

    • @JarrodsTech
      @JarrodsTech  ปีที่แล้ว

The reason it's so much thicker is that the measurement also includes the rubber foot. Laptops usually aren't measured including them, so the actual thickness isn't 26mm

@@JarrodsTech true. No reviewers seem to be reviewing them. It paints a very biased view against amd unfortunately. I think amd advantage laptops havnt gotten a fair shake. This laptop is nearly a dream machine for me, but I'm exceedingly picky - I want better: I hope the AMD version has USB 4, and I want Apple-like hardware quality: the miniLED screen should have glossy option (of course, anti-reflective like apple or a good TV), speakers should be better.... Don't tell Lenovo but I don't even care what it would cost. Maybe in 5-10 more years some Windows machine will finally catch up with apple...

I can't believe how much developer time is wasted continously developing the software to control the lights for the keys. I mean, they've become somewhat mainstream.... 10 years ago ? Yet we still have dedicated software for each laptop, and it doesn't seem to be one made 10 years ago. I hate that it's still not stadardized like the keys themselves, so they're not a feature or a presentation point anymore. And that you don't need a special software for it, that might not work on alll operating systems, is buggy, probably has security holes and most likely spies in some way and sends telemetry data to the manufacturer. I tried the Wither 3 (with the new update at highish settings) and it was pretty noisy. If it was a quiet classroom and the teacher was talking, this laptop would definitely be noticeable and annoying to anyone trying to listen. Also, keep in mind that the laptop was not under a full load (had the laptop on auto mode and was not trying to max anything out). I am sure the laptop would get louder and hotter if you really pushed it. But, that gives you a good idea of what video editing and other demanding applications might be like.
