The problem with relationship nowadays is that even average looking woman has endless droves of desperate thirsty men that also want her. Love the SAD reference. I've seen it emasculate a man though. My friend's wife was a doctor (he supported her all through college, med school, residency) and he was a teacher. He quit teaching and did exactly what you said, cleaned, worked out a lot, made dinner, etc. I told him that he needed to learn about investing, start a business or she was going to walk on him. He didn't listen. She started doing crossfit and MMA training. He already worked out so I told him to always go with her, work out hard and don't complain. Again he didn't listen, about a year later a woman came to their house and told him his wife was a homewrecker and was sleeping with her husband. The guy was one of her crossfit "buddies". When I was in high school people CONSTANTLY ASSUMED I was weak, because I was being beat up (five guys on one) and I was never taught to fight or even defend myself!! Because my narcissistic mother DEMANDED my father "take care of her" and that in mind my father was never around working three or four jobs at once!! I was a "skinny kid" but not "weak" by any stretch!! But women thought I was weak......because I was "thin"!! No matter how much I lifted weights, pumping iron constantly, I still only weighed 98 pounds in high school even though I could push around a 2000 pound car constantly AND I could lift two times my own body weight in the gym! Not only was a "stronger than I appeared" I was also a lot smarter than most people would give me credit for!!! And it seems that every company I quit and left shortly went out of business, after I was fed up jumping through THEIR HOOPS just like with women!!! Crazy thing is companies like women always seem to "under estimate me" and usually what I know!! When I was working for one company I was literally IN CHARGE of four departments, I asked for more money and they fired me, suddenly they realized that they had never trained ANYBODY to do the jobs I knew how to do!! I was "IT" in the whole department for THOSE FOUR CUSTOMERS!! So when they flipped me the bird, they literally shot themselves in the foot, as they kicked me out the door!! I find this position somewhat strange. On the one hand consider, a promiscuous average or slightly above average looking woman in her 20s-30's. Because she is relatively easy, she now has access to sex from above average men (if not super attractive men) because many of those men, who certainly will not commit long term, will be down for short term easy sex. On the other hand, a non-promiscuous average to slightly above average looking woman has zero sexual access to those men because they aren't about to commit to subpar women when they clearly have better options. The promiscuous woman gets sex and no commitment, the non-promiscuous woman gets no sex and no commitment. Seems better to be promiscuous doesn't it?
Sure the promiscuous woman looses value past her mid-thirties, but so does the non-promiscuous woman. So aging out of value doesn't actually change with promiscuity. Perhaps both women could have settled for someone average or below who would commit to her before she aged out, but remember that neither woman actually wants such a man. Both women want quality men, one woman gets a temporary benefit, sex, possibly free meals, maybe nice gifts, etc. The other gets literally nothing and suffers the same fate of aging out and having to settle for a low quality man, or no man.
Settling is the losing game state. So settling early isn't a winning strategy, it's like resigning the game during round one to prevent an inevitable loss in round five. You still lose, but you also don't get to play the game.
Promiscuity is actually the only winning strategy for most women because all women lose value as they age, and it's the only move that actually nets any gain from high quality men.

Why would a male who is an 8 want to settle for a woman of lower value than himself, a female 7, when there are promiscuous 7, 8, and 9's from whom he could get free sex with no commitment?
The advantage you ascribe to a non-promiscuous woman settling down in her mid-twenties with a man one point above her station comes with the cost of giving up ever having sex with a man two or more points above her station, and the cost of having very little or even no sex before getting married, and the gamble only pays off if she is able to find a conservative man who is also primarily interested in settling down which is a small slice of the male population at large. Even more, she has to actually want a conservative man in the first place! It should not be surprising that this happens less frequently given that more and more women are less interested in 'traditional conservative' values, and more openly interested in sex without commitment while they can get it, ie when they are young and the hottest they will ever be.
Meanwhile, a promiscuous woman in her 20's can have lots of sex with the hottest dudes she can get, doesn't have to get married young, and can still settle in her 30's after the fun is over. Then even if the marriage doesn't work out, divorce has little to no consequences. The cost of this choice is not being able to marry a better than average conservative man who cares greatly about marrying a woman who is also conservative, aka a man she doesn't want to marry in the first place as she is not conservative and wants sex with very high value men.
Men find less promiscuous women more valuable for sure, but I am not addressing what men want. I am addressing what women want. Which is commitment, preferably from high value men, and sex from high value men. The only way for the majority of women to get both is to play the game of promiscuity. Lower value women can get sex from higher value men when those men don't have to commit, there is a chance that one of the high value men she is chasing will commit, but even if they don't, lower value men will still commit to her after the fun ends. Sex, fun, the potential for landing a high value target, and commitment one way or the other remains on the table for the promiscuous woman in the example, while only a potential for landing a high value target is available for the non-promiscuous woman who has to give up fun and sexual variety.
It is possible that the 'traditional view' is wrong, but I would not think so considering the alternative. If both men and women were equally interested in commitment and modesty, then that would be the prevailing market force, and we would not see high promiscuity levels in the first place. Both men and women would have the highest incentive to be modest in order to get the thing they both ultimately desire in a relationship, thus, that is what we would see most often, but we do not see that outside of extremely religious groups or in the idealized imagination of 1950's Americana. We see it in groups with high adoption of conservative values because it is the market force in those groups for relationships, we don't see it in the greater western society because it is not the prevailing market force.
I would agree with you entirely in the case of a traditionally conservative man and a woman who was specifically interested in traditional values seeking a traditionally conservative man. That is not the majority of the western world population today, but for people who are in that mindset nothing stops them from getting together, so what is there to complain about? Your scenario still plays out in many cases even though, in the modern world, a majority of people are less conservative, and promiscuity is more and more common.

I am not sure that there are 'alot' of them in the modern western world, per se, but that does represent some percentage of the male population.
My point was that, with the exception of a highly conservative woman who specifically wants a traditional man, and who also happens to get exceptionally lucky enough to attract and keep a high value man with her same values, all other women should play the dating game exactly as modern women do.
It is the only strategy that results in sex from high value men they want sexual satisfaction from with the chance (although low) of securing that man to commit while always leaving the possibility open to settle for low quality men later, even if they strike out with desirable men. Meanwhile, even 'striking out', ie having short-term relationships and sex without commitment with high value men, has the benefit of sex and the perks of the relationship temporarily.
I understand your point about some men wanting traditional women, but you would also have to understand that some women (most women in the modern west) want sex, and fun, and a relationship down the road, and kids one day. They don't want some of those things. They want all of those things, which they can actually have since there is a never ending supply of beta orbiters to clean up after the mess even in the literal worse case scenario.
Many men seem to argue that beautiful women should settle by in their mid 20's with a traditional 'good enough' man, but are overlooking how bad that advice is. 1) Because it eliminates lots of sex and short term relationships with gifts, trips, fun, etc. from highly desirable men 2) Those women can settle for 'good enough' men after the fun is over 3) Those women never want 'good enough' men at any point (ie those are the consolation prize after losing the dating game, not an actual win condition) thus they would be exactly as unhappy with them at 25 as they are at 33.

My wife stays home. She has a near endless list of things she has to do everyday and on top of that she has all the projects and hobbies she wants to do. She works very hard and has my deepest admiration and respect. I could do what she does and she could do what I do, barring any injury, but we would both be miserable. We were designed, male and female, differently. Both have attributes, strengths and weaknesses that compliment the other. In my opinion the biggest problem in our society IS promiscuity. But chastity and virtue is not only the best way, it's the only way. And it is both of our responsibilities. Trying to foist the accountability of sex solely onto women's shoulders is just flat out wrong. It's demeaning to men to say that we do not have enough control over ourselves to be strong and wait for the right time and the right place. It makes us look like children, which is what feminism wants us to be in the first place. I also see the non-acceptance of traditional gender roles as a huge problem. Women in particular are incredibly susceptible to this gender role dysphoria. They have spent the last 60 years since the "sexual" revolution trying to be something they are not and rejecting their God given talents. The result has been the wanton destruction of the nuclear family and widespread unhappiness and misery. Anyway just my two cents it's not going to change anything the world is still going to hell in a hand basket.

Finally someone with some sense and old fashioned values. My husband and I are in our mid 30's, he works and I am the home maker. We work together to take care of our family. Our friends and even elders make fun of us. We are happy, healthy and we have a lovely clean home. We have hobbies and enjoy working out and Farmers Markets. Friends and even elders make fun of us but they are all unhappy, unmarried and living filthy lives.

I was married for 25 years to and emotionally abusive woman, she eventually got diagnosed with bipolar disorder but not until I ended the marriage. She wasn't like that when we first married.
I told her many times there was something wrong with her but she wouldn't do anything about it. I stuck it out because the woman I loved was buried inside the tyrant and would sometimes be allowed to come out. Also we had two lovely girls who I just could not leave knowing that the family court system would give my wife majority custody. I stayed to protect my kid's from her behaviour.
When I told my wife, in Sep 2010, that our marriage was over she threatened suicide so I got her to the doctors where she finally started treatment and therapy. All of a sudden her behaviour towards me completely changed and she couldn't be more attentive. She all of a sudden couldn't give me enough sex when previously pulling teeth was easier.
But I was determined to divorce because there was far too many bad experiences over the years. I just didn't love her anymore and actually told her, "It took you 25 years but you finally beat the love out of me." The best she was getting was friendship for the sake of our children.
Anyway after a few months and us living separately she took all her pills with wine and killed herself. I found her body as we were still in touch and I was helping her to get better for the sake of our children so we could still be some form of family. But the marriage was over and when she finally realised that there was no hope of reconciliation she did what she did in Aug 2011.
Things got worse after that for me. Two months later her elderly father who was in a nursing home, stopped eating after he learnt of his daughters death. He died of a severe lung complaint and I was with him in hospital when he took his last breath. He had wasted away from a broken heart.
Then six weeks after that my wife's brother committed suicide by burning the family home down with himself in it. I rushed to the hospital where the doctors came out and told me he was dead. Then the police asked me to identify his body which I did. By this stage I was truly punch drunk.
So after all that I plunged into a huge depressive hole and ended up with counselling and medication for the shock of the trauma I had gone through. I started to drink and smoke very heavily and many times nearly died myself. I was going through hell on earth. It's only the last couple of years that I have been able to get my life back. And yes time does heal but you have to go through the rings of fire first.
Now I am as happy as anyone can be and have been working very hard to repair the damage done to my health, my mind and my spirit.

Society as of now reminds my young self when the economical crisis wasn't a thing. One toy per Saturday. To the point I was not giving them value anymore.
Then the crisis hit, and we had less money, which meant no more toys.

The moral of this little story and how it reflects on nowadays society? Responsibilities suck, but if you don't have them, you'll not function properly; and in the long game you will be thankful for having such responsibilities, because being handed the shiny toy gives you nothing, working to get the shiny toy gives you a lesson (and the toy).

I was having a discussion on reddit with someone which really fits into this topic perfectly. I pulled one of the comments as it really the crux of the issue we are facing...

I stated a system where polyamory is the norm without plans in place to handle that will arise is bad and history has already proven(not theoretically, but proven) that this is in fact the case. It is the ultimate system of haves and have nots.

Because, I think the underlying issue we are having is that the sexual revolution and the normalization of promiscuity has allowed and now even encouraged the practice of polyamory. More radical women feminists are openly calling for the elimination of 80 percent of the male population. Can you guess what 20 percent would be kept around. The highest quality breeding stock. That's who.
Interesting observation and mostly accurate, lets take a look at the bigger picture. True a non traditional polygamous society does ultimately fail, the only way the elites in the West buy more time for themselves is through mass immigration from other usually 3rd world countries. This is due to the host native population greatly dwindling due to extreme dissolution, disfunction and division. This bandage or short term solution on the part of the ruling class is done to strictly buy them more time so they can continue to make more profit and to possibly gain more power and control over a society, civilization and countries. Ultimately, the new incoming population becomes corrupted and indoctrinated over time and as a result more replacements are needed to be able to keep society afloat. It is a viscous cycle that will only stop when a very traditional society sees through this and says enough is enough.

The logical conclusion to poly as the norm is....wait for it.....THE PATRIARCHY. Yep, that's right. The highest value men(money, looks, status) will be in demand. Which mean they set the rules on who they will see. The higher the value of the man the more demanding he can be in his conditions for those he allows to be part of his harem. These guys at the pinnacle will realize how much power that gives them and rarely through history does a group that has that much power not used it for their advantage. Which leads to a society dominated by the top males. Sounds similar to things we have already seen in the history books doesn't it? The funny thing is they are demanding it to take place, after all the work women's rights pioneers did to get fair treatment for women, they are going to give it all away.

Feminism and Poly ultimately do lead to a hyper form of Patriarchy, which also if left to todays feminist will only speed up the destruction of society. The radicals among feminists thinking that they will just get rid of the remaining 70-90% of men is ridicules nonsense. Who is going to do the heavy lifting and dirty work within a society, the remaining 70-90% of men, who else. I also think that we as men play a big role in this whole mess as well, until we begin correcting the mistakes the existing problems along with some new ones are only going to get worse. Ultimately, a return to the traditional family structure and close extended family and community is the answer. As men the answer is not to hide but to attack this issue head on and defeat it. We have historical evidence, logic and existing proof on our side, they have anger, foolishness, hatred, irrationality, fantasy and emotion on theirs. If we handle ourselves differently, we prevail, if we continue to handle ourselves as we have been for the past half century or more, society will continue to suffer and eventually collapse.

That's why they would "trade" with livestock for the woman. It was often the parents that decided who the children would marry, though, unless they were a culture that used match-makers.
