That was so much fun to watch! 🦀 Only once, in St Simons (Pier) with my Aunt who lived there when I was young. In the early 80’s. She’s a well known artist there. Now in her late 80’s. I hope to live near water like this someday. Here’s hoping!🤞🤞
I live in S C & I use to go crabbing with my Dad with the string, & chicken necks, then when the grandchildren got old enough Daddy took them down to the creek or Marsh & taught them. Fun memories. Thanks for taking us along.
That Michael is ornery lol. I love how he makes Paula laugh. And I loved Paula telling the story of how they met. I read about it in her book too but I love hearing her stories.
Ohhh yummy. I love them steamed. You are very lucky to just have them right there oh my goodness enjoy and God bless I've loved you for years and years and years. 😁😁😁😁😁
LOVED THIS!!! I vote for many more videos with Michael & Michelle! Michael is so funny and I love seeing Michelle work w/ her Daddy; she is so down to earth and hardworking. I love to see such a capable sea woman!! Paula has a way of building ppl up and she's such an encourager! I wanna see the crab pickin' and crab cake makin' now!!
Great video! Really like the Savannah lifestyle/river culture as depicted here.Went crabbing when I made some friends while visiting an island off Hilton Head where Gullah culture is still alive.Even got to visit a juke joint before crabbing at night under the stars with raw chicken on a string watching dolphins swim in the moonlight. The air was warm and moist and heavy. What a Southern summer experience never to be forgotten!
Aren't the Gullah's so wonderful?? They really are a wonderful culture of People who have not been done so well at times. Their History needs Preserved. As a Southern Women born In SC I've always enjoyed listening to the Gullah's speak, & watch their amazing talents basket weaving.
One of my uncles was a crab fisherman in Northern California for several years in the beautiful town of Trinidad. . He also fished for salmon and worked as a logger. The crab hauls were very precious so his family didn’t get to eat it all the time. When we would go up to see them, he would treat us to a great meal. Wonderful memories
As a child I learned to string crab as well as set traps at my grandparents, off their quiet back yard bay in Herring Creek, DL. I’ve moved on to the ICW and teach my grandchildren the craft of crabbing (there might be a book title in there) if I only wrote books, maybe I’ll start. Crabbing is a beautiful and rewarding tradition for our family . Long live traditions 🦀
it is...but i got pinched so many times when i was a kid and they don't let go. momma always brought a thermos of hot water to throw on them so they would let go of my fingers...lol! it was painful...i'm nowhere near a canal now but i have so many good recollections of feasting on blue crab after netting them all day during the season. thanks for sharing, paula! you look gorgeous! thank you for everything you do!!
This whole video was so much fun. I would love to have a place on the water. Michael is so funny. My husband is a Michael too and always trying to scare me. Hearing your stories Paula is like a mother or grandmother telling stories and they are so delightful and interesting. Nice to meet Michelle. That's great that she loves to help her daddy. I cant wait to see the continuation of the crabs. Yall have a great day!
oh my gosh, that was so much fun. I have been watching all of your videos over last week..... so excited when a new one pops up! Ms. Paula you radiate warmth, entire family does, love hearing all the stories.
That was the most interesting video. I’ve never seen the process and can’t wait for the next video to see how they’re cooked. Both of you are just adorable 🥰
I loved it too..Michel is a sweetie pie...they r perfect together.love the way they met...that was Destiny...or serendipity...whatever. it was perfect!!! I love them both so MUCH
I absolutely loved watching this!! I thoroughly enjoyed the scenery, to walk out and see dolphins and turtles, the laughter, and the memories told!! I would be in absolute heaven right there!!
Last year we bought our dream house lot on the Eastern Shore of VA. 140 foot of salt water front (marsh) and a 160 foot dock. Our home is nearly done. We pulled about 14 nice crabs out of our pots last night. Our neighbor farms oysters. It is a precious thing to live on the water.
That was so interesting to hear all the stories and to have Michael scare you with that crab at the end....funnnnnnyyyyy! Eddie is such a good cameraman. It was nice to meet Michele. Thanks!
Michelle has gorgeous dimples when she smiles or talks. And I love it when Eddie makes a comment or two during the video. This was such fun to watch the process of crabbing out on the dock.
God Morning, Best video by far, As much as I love your cooking video's, The more personal ones are my fav, Can you tell us what Mychelle does for a living, show us around your dock, yard, etc, Can't wait to see the video on how she cooks them...
Paula, I've been watching you for quite some time. You have the best heart and soul. I hope your kids appreciate all your sacrifices and sleepless nights to get where you and they are now. To hear your stories and heart felt memories, brings joy to me. Many blessings to you.
Paula, Paula, Paula.....I love all your video's. It must be really nice to leave right out your back door and go Crabbing....I wish you could freeze me some and mail them to me. My husband is disabled from the Military and absolutely adores you. Most blessing to you and your husband.
I live in northern CA and used to go crabbing for Dungeness crab. Our dad was a welder and he made crab nets, abalone irons & gauges, and gauges for clams. Dungeness crab is my favorite and have an excellent marinade for it. Great childhood memories.
We string crab. When the beach was clear enough we let the kids loose with nets and they had a blast chasing crab. After cleaning them we cook them by dredging them in a mixture of Paul Prudhome's Blackened Redfish Magic and seasoning salt, then deep fry them. Talk about amazing!!
Dear Paula, I was raised on the James River in Va. we would go out on our pier and catch crabs. My mother loved to go soft shell crabbing she would do this while we were in school. She would pull my little brother behind her in enter tube and she had wooden box she would but them in. My brother let her biggest one go. So she never took him again. She lived to 100 and 4 months. She loved that river. We had the best childhood there. My sister is still putting her crab pot over and catching them today. We can pick and eat crabs with the best of them. Been bit more than once by a crab.
As aMaryland girl I love my blue crabs! Could pick and eat them every week if they weren’t so darn expensive! As a kid we crabbed the same way with string and chicken necks!
Michelle and her daddy remind me of me and mine. He passed away last year and I'm so heartbroken! Cherish EVERY moment and fish, crab and spend as much time as you can with him. ❤🙏❤🙏
Thank You for letting all of us into Your Lives. So Enjoy Your books, watching Your Family grow & keeping it REAL. You've been through a lot through out the years so it's just Great for all of us long time Fans to see You & Yours HAPPY ~
Oh Paula, ya'll make such a beautiful couple! I cannot even imagine how wonderful it is living on that water. Your home is breathtaking. I LOVE CRAB!!!!!!!!! Love N Blessings from Fla.
Many years ago we went to Chincoteague Virginia with my husbands family fish for Flounder and Crab. Sometimes we used the chicken necks in the cages until we got a load of fish for bait. So much fun and this brings back sentimental and great memories. Makes my husband and me want to move to the salt water and get a boat!
This video makes me miss home and so does your comment :) I’m from Portsmouth, VA living in KY and I sure miss crabbing in the Elizabeth River.. and I sure miss picking them!
This reminds me of summers on the Rappahanock river in Virginia. There were crab pots at the end of the pier at my step-dad's family river house. Mom would steam the crabs and pick off all the meat for my kids. We'd have corn on the cob, fresh tomatoes, and fried catfish that the kids and mom would catch. Mom passed away last year, but the kids and I have a lot of good memories of the river house.
Now that is "romantical," Michael saying he didn't need to meet anymore neighbors. LOL Just love your videos Paula !! Please don't ever stop making them.
I took my son crabbing years ago when he was about 12. We were visiting friends in Destin Fl. We went under a nearby bridge and used chicken necks and strings. We had so much fun!
I went crabbing once. I loved it. I love your home Paula. Your porches are perfect for having a morning coffee on and then a big glass of sweet tea in the evening. So relaxing.
I lived on the water in Bonita Beach Florida many years ago. Have fond memories but the greatest was kayaking with dolphins in the Gulf and a special blue heron that hung out at our favorite local restaurant on the back bay waters. Never went crabbing but catching Snook was big deal. Miss those times!
I remember crabbing with my Daddy as a young girl, this brought back wonderful memories. ❤️❤️ it’s is so much fun. Thanks for sharing. God Bless you and your beautiful family. ❤️🙏🏻🇺🇸
I remember going crabbing off the coast of Maryland with my grandparents. They were seasoned crabbers and we’d be at the dock by the time it was barely dawn. We tied individual strings all over the dock with a chicken wing for bait(back when wings were a cheap part of the chicken…Lol). Then the elders would sit in lawn chairs while I walked the dock letting them know when the strings walked out from the dock😂 Then crab feast for everyone in the evening😋
my daughters and I used to go crabbing all the time would crab all night long with the the string and the chicken neck we lived at Villa Marina in Baytown Texas we love the dogs and always special when those sufficient would come in sometimes they give me shrimp I need some of them and that was quite alive those are memories with my daughter will take me all the way through my life I would love to be able to do that with my great grandchildren but I don't guess it'll ever happen but if you ever lucky enough to do that with your family members it's priceless.
What a great video. I loved seeing yall doing the crabbing. It must never get old living on the water, so many neat things to see. We never get to see too much of Michael, and it was great seeing him. He is just too cute. Thank you for sharing.
I love watching this video. We see Mr. Michael come in and out of the kitchen going to work on his boat. But now this adds to the where - does he go; and what does his boat look like! Plus Mrs. Paula talks fondly about their Michelle, (yes I know she only had 2 sons - but love for someone has no walls or limits!) So now we have a mental picture of their Michelle! Thank you, I really enjoyed this video! Please do more! I remember as a child we went to Mobile Bay in Alabama to visit relatives and there where hundreds of little crabs on the dock. I had on flip - flops too! Scary!
I loved this one for sure! Just hanging together being as real as you can crabbing! What a fun time. I live near the coast of Maine you are so blessed to be in a cove!
Loved hearing about the family stories, including the turtle soup. My goodness y'all are blessed to have seawater frontage! Fixin to remodel my kitchen in a few weeks and trying to use ideas from your last video. Lord knows your pantry space is simply divine!
What an awesome video. That looked like so much fun. I would love to live on the water and be able to do that whenever I wanted to. It's a whole different way of life. Hopefully, tomorrow, we're gonna learn how to "pick" a crab!! Can't wait!!! 👍❤
I love all kinds of seafood since I'm from Maryland. Love this video Paula & how you & Michael met. That would melt my heart too him picking & feeding me. A keeper for sure! Ha! Cant wait to see Michele's crabcakes. Yummy! Stay safe & God bless all of you
Good morning Paula. Makes me miss my daddy. He had a shrimping business when we lived in Louisiana. Oh my I loved our big table full of crab. I cut my teeth on jumbo shrimp. Now I have to find my mom's shrimp recipe. I remember it was boiled in spices and beer and deep fried in a sweet spicy batter. Yummy. I remember as a child when Dad would get a big big turtles. Mom would cook it ,it was so good. The turtle shell was used as a huge riding toy for us children down the levees.
Paula, please finish your story of Michael's Momma sleeping out on the porch. My husband's son just gave us 3 large crabs that are cooked and frozen along with Clams and Rock fish. I may steam some after your next video. Michael teasing you reminds me of my husband. I love you all in Christ. Hugs.
So much fun, MICHAEL reminds me of my Dad..full of the devil antics…the two of you make a fabulous team..enjoyed seeing his daughter Michele. Thank you for the memories..🥰
Great video Paula. Crabbing looks like fun, but the eating looks better. You and Micheal are so sweet together, you were really made for each other. How long did you date before he asked you to marry him? I love hearing about how people meet, I think it’s so romantic. Love ya Paula, Micheal.
Hey Paula and Michael Michelle, looks like you’ve got rain in the distance so y’all be careful! Love your boat there Michael and Paula that’s a really nice boat. And y’all take care and be safe out on the water! We love crab meat! Aren’t all sea turtles on the endangered list and it’s against the law to catch any of them?. We live here in the Surfside Beach South Carolina in every year we have the turtles coming ashore down an Pawleys Island in Litchfield and up in North Myrtle Beach and they have all people that check them and make sure that the turtles get back into the ocean.
Loved seeing this funny video and hearing the stories. We just took our grandchildren to dig razor clams for the first time. They had such a great time. It's alot fun and costs very little, like crabbing or fishing. Gives you priceless memories. ❤ 🤍💙
Loved watching this video!! I grew up crabbing also. Little further north so didn’t get stone crabs. Both kinds are my favorite. Brought a smile to my face. Enjoy eating the crab cakes, yummy!!! 😊❤️
Love it when you both are hanging out. With Michael in the kitchen with Paula makes a great show. Learned a lot about crabbing. We don’t have that in Oklahoma. Thanks for sharing👍❤️
Wow Paula this was a wonderful video and I'm so glad we finally got to see Michael and his daughter and to see what Michael does and also love to see how Michael makes you laugh as he is being ornery and funny and I sure can't wait till tomorrow's video. This was fun and interesting. Paula and Michael are such captivating story tellers. Shows they've lived full and rich lives. Can't wait for the next video.
Love your video’s of your home and outside. You and Michael are such a sweet couple. Please have him in your videos more often, love how he makes you laughter.
Have y'all ever been crabbin' before?
Yes, we used to all the time as kids and loved it. Just like you said we tied a chicken leg to a string and got them that way. Good memories.
