The interesting thing with Pouf's character is that he is really obsessed with the idea of the King, not Meruem himself. He idealizes what is like to worship a true Chimera Ant king and he is willing to do anything possible to prevent Meruem going into a path different than that. He goes to a point like manipulating what the king is supposed to feel or think because of his obsession with that perfect and idealized monarch. Which is also (ironically) a human fault.
In his rejection of humanity he is ironically more human than anyone else, because only a human would have that kind of emotional rejection instead of just living by his instinct as an ant would.
@@angrashadow2958 In a way I think that all the guards are "more human than anyone else" in different specific ways: - Pitou is to me the epitome of human curiosity (and by extension is capable of showing both the most human growth and human destructive curiosity). - Youpi is in a way the epitome of human apathy, he straight up doesn't care and makes no choices, he just follows what he's "supposed" to do as a royal guard (which makes it even more interesting when in the face of Kings possible death they go "full ant" and Youpi makes a command on his own), even more so the most "humane" choices that he makes are all, in a way, inaction. And Pouf as these comments explain, is in essence human idealization, blind and devoted, representing how people can follow an ideal so blindly that we are not seeing what actions we are actually following.
He says killing Komugi and preventing the king from remembering her is for the king and for the sake of their species. He wants the king to lead them to become the dominant species on the planet. Netero observed that the king is wavering between human and ant and doesn't understand they're incompatible, Pouf agrees and is scared to death of his wavering and the wavering of his fellow guards. He's correct to be scared, it means their doom if the king gives up.
I find Pouf so interesting because a lot of people say that Pouf doesn’t change, or become “more human,” like Pitou and Youpi did but I disagree. I’d argue that Pouf became just as human as the other Guards, just that his human characteristics manifested in something much more toxic than Pitou’s growth through the development of empathy and Youpi’s growth through the development of selflessness and honor. Pouf’s most prominent human trait is that of disappointment, disappointment that someone you know, someone you idolize, doesn’t match the version of them that exists in your head. I might even go so far as to say that this might just be the most human development of all of the Ants
Spoilers for those who haven't finished this arc It's interesting that most humane ones die first and the one royal guard with the most malice died last. I think it shows how strong malice was. It broke Pouf yet it was so human.
One of my favorite little (probably unintentional) parallels in this episode is how Pouf says that he must do his duty even if it is considered a crime/betrayal, which is similar to how in the Yorknew City arc Pakunda also decides to save Chrollo despite it being "betrayal" of the Spider and his philosophy, except in this case Meruem's wishes are the ones that are not in line with what is supposed to be his "greater purpose". In both cases the line between loyalty and betrayal is very blur. Is it betrayal to protect the person you follow even if they don't wish for it? Is it loyalty to act against his personal wishes if it serves what you believe his purpose should be?
Its quite simple. Pouf is loyal to the king, Meruen is not acting like th eking hence Puf is not loyal to Meruem. Though you could argue it is not betrayal since Pouf is supposed to serve the king, not some dude who wants to play board games. You could also argue that Meruem is the one betraying his species.

Feitan is probably about equal to Illumi and Hisoka. The ants can tank MUCH more damage than humans. Because of all that, It wouldnt be a stretch to think that Killua could be a serious challenge to Illumi in his present state.
@@nathanpapp432 I totally agree with him being a serious challenge but currently his time limit would run out too quickly. If I had to rank all the characterters Illumi, Feitan and Killua would be right next to each other in that order.
its funny because i think that pouf has always out of all the ants had been in touch with his human aspects its just that where youpi and pitou gained emotions like respect and compassion in away pouf became selfish because hes ALWAYS loved the king much like every other royal guard its just he loves him so much hes willing to go against his wishes

It's not like there is a limited amount of good shows to watch and to react to. You finish HxH sooner, you get to watch another banger show right after.
