Thank you so much for letting me know you like this style of video! Ohhhhh hey I see you with your aesthetic intro, what a beautifully filmed, informative and fun video. Also love that Mads is learning Spanish, I am too!
Contacting brands is awesome & contacting HEB to appreciate them is beautiful! You are fabulous Shelbi inside out! Love you & I know you are staying safe. ♥️😌
We always have the right to let companies know when they have disappointed us but I also agree with Shelby its our responsibility to reward and acknowledge them when they do good and are hitting the nail on the head! I was taught by the principal in my kids elementary school as the librarian to catch kids doing good behavior and verbally reward them or even a small token of appreciation as a bookmark or letting them choose a book first in my case as librarian after story time for being a good listener! Amazing how children respond to reading good behavior! I'm sure all adults do the same!
I love seeing what other people buy. I've been working to have a healthier diet and less buying things packaged items has really helped (no sweets and treats)
So now that I'm early I hope you see this..... thank you so much for helping me open my eyes to how my bd habits hurt the earth around me thank you !!!
My husband bought reusable produce bags today! His reasoning wasn’t what mine would have been but honestly I’m just glad to have the bags and bring in less thin plastic.
Seeing you make the call to the store was an amazing example of how individuals can make a difference in a kind and loving way. Also, Love the style of this video!
You talking about second hand craft stores encouraged me to look in own area, and I found one!! I'm going to call them tomorrow to see how they do it. I've been holding onto soo many craft things.
I'm an EnvSci teacher, and I'm starting our unit on climate change in the next few weeks! My students are super interested in Environmental Justice... any ideas on how I could work student advocacy into my classroom?
idk how feasible it would be, but providing pre-addressed, blank postcards for them to write to their local/state representatives about the issues they learn about during the unit might be a good way!
I feel like it might be cool to bring in a few zero waste swaps to show your students how they work and let them touch and feel them. I definitely wish someone taught me about that!
I love that you called to leave a compliment with the manager! I’m sure they receive very few positive calls. Great work on all the initiatives Shelbi!
I'm always amazed when people don't know certain fruits or veggies, I'm pretty sure I would find some surprises in american supermarket. :D That paprika is called kapia and its super sweet. I also use some in my homemade ketchup :)
I started tutoring my 11 y/o cousin a few months back after he started to fall behind in school due to the new online curriculum and I was very happy to see that almost all of his core classes (mostly science but not exclusively) included some sort or project, focus, or writing assignment dedicated to something climate change related, beyond just pollution and the general ecosystem but actual education on the issue of climate change itself which was great to see and even taught me some things
I love this video style with all the randomness "day in the life of..." things included. A nice change-up from the validating "I'm not crazy, someone else thinks this is stupid, too!" style videos that have been posted since I subbed a couple months ago. Love, love, love!
I always have a hard time figuring out why I like "a day in the life of" videos so much. I think it's because it feels like I get to hang out while also learning new things. Anyways, always more of this please. Love your content
I really like this kind of vidéo💙 You’re my role model. Everytime I watch you, you challenge me to be a better person for my planet. Thanks a lot seriously 🙏 sorry for my bas english😂😅
I loved that you mentioned schools needing to teach climate change. I'm a 7th grade teacher in iowa and I just used your why you should quit recycling video to beef up one of my lessons in our climate change unit! My kids kind of hate it because they are way more interested in history but they also show me all the time that they are learning and it makes me happy 😁
I loveeeee this vlogging type style of video - it’s great to see an “average day” of your low waste life! I’ve been working on being more low waste for about 2.5-3 years, def made a lot of progress but still have a long way to go! I also love seeing you incorporate small but impactful actions in your daily life like writing/ calling businesses/ corporations/ local gov and picking up trash while you’re walking - I’ll definitely be adding more of that to my life!
Shelbi I love these type of videos! Seeing some of your day to day errands/activities help inspire me to do my civil duties as well! I would also like to mention that seeing you call the HEB manager helps a lot of folks that may not know how to approach that scenario! I live in Central Texas so I’m always hoping that we get other grocery stores such as Central Market and Whole Foods lol.
FYI I am a first year high school teacher and REALLY into sustainability. I incorporate sustainability into my classroom and any lesson that I can fit it into. I teach Family & Consumer Science (Home Ec) and have made so many changes in my curriculum that are so much better for the environment. I am excited for my last trimester of Clothing & Textiles class as I am requiring one of their projects to be "re-working" clothing and make it new again. Love your channel!
I just recently found your channel and I love your message! I’m going into an environmental science /sustainability studies degree myself! I live in Indiana so I have to be very careful about planting at certain times because we do live in the temperate area where the four seasons are very prominent. But nonetheless, this is very inspiring and helpful.
A second-hand craft store is the BEST idea! So many crafters I know struggle with what to do with leftover supplies and they’re also treasure hunters and usually thrifty. So I feel like, at least all those I know who craft, would love that sort of store. If they also held classes on up-cycling, I think that’d rock. Of course, I’m not personally a crafter, so I could be completely wrong lol.
just wanted to pop in here and say that the editing on your videos lately, especially this one, has been top-notch! (shoutout to Tara) you’ve actually encouraged me to go out and grocery-shop every single Saturday morning so that I can get as much package-free/sustainable packaging items as possible. my mom used to do curbside pickup where they had produce in produce bags and used plastic bags. now I’m using reusable grocery/produce bags to put everything in and only buying what we’ll actually eat. thank you so much for being an excellent role model/inspiration in my sustainability journey 💓
Loved this video! What a beautiful way to spread love and your passion for sustainability by calling to share your appreciation for the store. Reinforce good behavior! I bet that manager was prepared for a negative review and was totally relieved and grateful for the positivity!
Thanks Shelby you and your Lady are so inspiring! Kudos to a nubie grandma who's trying to encourage her adult children and grandblessings also to be more sustainable and eco-friendly! love your channel!
@@Shelbizleee I think when talking about the plant and trying to save it, talking loud and amped is the only way! Keep doing you. I’m new to your channel and have been binge watching, I find your enthusiasm contagious and have started making more changes. So thanks!
I listened while driving and then I had to rewatch once I stopped. Loving the music and new editing added in! My favorite is your OMG face at Madison 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I loved how you showed how you contact, and make change in your community. It's great to see someone normalizing them "walking the walk" instead of just talking the talk
I love these kinds of videos! It's so chill and these impressions of you cooking are really nice. Btw, do you have an opinion on hellofresh? I had a coupon once and really liked it, and they seem to be quite "green", but I'd love to hear what you have to say about them.
Your videos have been beautifully edited lately. And as usual amazing content! Thanks for being awesome and continuing to press for size inclusivity and the environment! Go you! 🙂❤️
I have to leave a comment because I absolutely adored this video! Firstly I loved how calming and aesthetic it was, I really enjoyed this semi vlog style! Secondly I loved that it had slow living vibes, something that is very important for sustainability. And thirdly I loved that it wasn't focus on stuff like a lot of your videos are, was exciting to see you talking about things you can do that don't involve buying anything at all.
This was a much better video than your last ones. Much more chill and laid back in tone and atmosphere. I myself am starting to write to Tom's of Maine and ask for cardboard packaging, No plastic containers. We don't have a good bulk store here and everything is in plastic containers, but I remain hopeful and get what I can loose or cardboard.
Those red peppers are Romano peppers, they’re big in the UK and are usually the peppers used when you buy jars of sliced/charred peppers! Really sweet and tasty. Try roasting them in coconut aminos or tamari it’s sooo tasty!
I LOVED EVERY SINGLE THING ABOUT THIS VIDEO. Idk if it’s weird but I love watching people make food, do grocery hauls, and semi-morning routines! Idk why it’s so satisfying 😂🌱🪴🌈🌍
One thing I love about this is how even though you are mostly all sustainable, you sometimes have to get packaged strawberries and I love how you are so calm and not you have to do this your bad and that this is a safe place for trial and error almost
Perfect timing. I am NOT a clothing shopper so at the beginning of the year I like to try and replace staples or take inventory on what I need. I have a few items in my thred up cart so I appreciate the discount code!
A second hand craft store sounds like my DREAM I craft a ton but i always feel bad having to get thinks like ribbon and beads and stuff new... it always comes in so much packaging
👍👏 For your editor. Every time I watch your videos, I'll be amazed by how it both educates and shows a funny personality. All screen changes, inserted photos and comments, like wow. It complements your efforts so much.
Just commenting to say THANK YOU SHELBY calling and asking for a manager to COMPEMENT staff is so so huge and like no one does it, it's always to complain (usually for some stupid ass reason) so when managers hear good things it really helps employees who are usually under paid and over worked get more recognition and better treatment.
In the Netherlands school give class about climate change but I have learned the basics at school but everything you can do to help the planet learned from you and other sustainable youtubers fave genre to watch 😍
I love your styles! Great choices. Also, I’m sure you’re already aware but your influence on people with these videos is invaluable. I’ve learned so much from you! Please never stop being you.
If you have to get something in a plastic clamshell (prior to recycling it) I suggest saving it to use for garden starts. Like a tiny greenhouses before you transplant it. 🌱
I work at Central Market (not your location lol) and i'm glad that other people get excited about getting package free items as well! I'll have to see when we're going to get the tubs for the bulk section back
I failed chemistry in high school so I was put into the environmental science class for “under performing students” and THAT class should be the class that is standard for everyone. The info they gave was about real life and how humans affect the planet. I loved it so much! I was just disappointed that not everybody got to learn this info because the class was only offered to students who couldn’t pass chemistry
You’re such an inspiration. I don’t have any good role models to look up to in my life, thank you for being that person❤️ your videos and your care for the planet warms my heart so much and inspires me everyday to be a better person. 🥺
I work in a grocery store where we do delivery/pickup and that’s actually my job haha! Usually when I’m getting groceries for someone, you can only do so much by ways of minimizing plastic bags because some things have to be bagged a certain way, but I will stuff those bags so full when I can😂 AND I never bag their produce, I just try to put it all in the same bag so it’s together and not getting other food wet (when it’s been sprayed down in the cold section.) you are so inspiring!!
I found a new chocolate bar the other day at the store called Loving Earth and they use a compostable wrapper which I like as compared to the foil. I find the thin foil tears into such tiny pieces and I worry that it just becomes small trash that can be eaten by wildlife.
The PLANTS!! 🥰🥰 I’ve been trying to shop more bulk here in NYC. I’ve noticed I really have to be mindful about what I’m using constantly so I have an actual idea of what I need rather than being like “ooo that looks interesting!” And never eating it.
I don’t make comments often but I just wanted to share that I loved this style of video! and hearing the rep on the phone smile when she realized she wasn’t getting complained at was sooooo cute 🥺🥺🥺
Lovvvvveeeee how you're sharing about your emails and ways to advocate in your community, etc!! It's always a good reminder to me and also makes it's much more realistic to do for anyone who has never known how to "reach out to representatives" or any other companies! It can be intimidating and this helps so much! Would you ever provide templates for your audience to customize/update from your emails that you've sent to various companies? Thank you for doing this and I hope to keep seeing videos with clips like this :)
So excited that you got to experience Spare Parts! Spare Parts is definitely worth a visit! Schools do need to talk about climate change more especially in Texas. As an Art Teacher, I always try to create a sustainable classroom. There needs to be more students, parents and community members to support this mission!
This video was awesome! Thank you for including how you’re trying to make your city more sustainable, it really has inspired me to recognize the same issues in my community and do something about it! Also the outfits from ThredUP - SO cute!
I love how after a peek at your house it proves that you can have a beautiful home sustainably. I held the common misconception that mindful living meant you couldn't really have.... things. If that makes sense. Great video as always Shelbi!!
Hello Shelbi, I absolutely loved loved loved this video. I watch all your videos but for some reason this one has just been so beautiful. I love watching people grocery shop and I love food hauls. I live in Australia and I love seeing all the wonderful vegan food options you have in the US that we don't have. I love that you also ring and compliment, so do I. Thanks so much for sharing your life with us, hi Madison, take care to the two of you.
Definitely eat like Madison! I LOVE to mix foods together. I also spread any sauce or spread first on the tortilla like I’m buttering it and then sprinkle cheese so it sticks to it...and then I finally add the rest of the ingredients (lettuce, meat, tomatoes, etc...) then wrap it up! It makes sure that you have the sauce or spread and the cheese in every bite!
There's so much gratefulness and positive energy going on in this video so I just wanna take a moment to say I appreciate YOU cause honestly I am so happy that you're here doing the damn thing. You make so many great points and I just love your overall perspective and opinions. Thanks so much 😊
One thing I just found out is that colourpop now has refillable eyeshadow pallets! And you can pick out the eyeshadow you want and then buy singles to refill as you need. I thought that was cool to see from a big company and just wanted to share. Lol they may have been doing this a long time but it's new to me. 😂
as an Australian it’s so worrying hearing that bulk bins are still open in the US. We have next to no covid cases and they are only just opening some, many still aren’t open. 😭 Definitely use the bulk bin that just pours into your jar, rather than the bin. Stay safe honeys xx
One great way to incorporate oats if you don’t like them typically is to add a scoop to your smoothie bowl in the morning. I do that with my smoothies typically whether it’s a bowl or a drink.
I’ve been watching your videos for a few months now! You make me pumped and excited how the little changes actually do make a difference. Still very new to this lifestyle, but I see how doable it is now! Also, this is my favorite video of yours! I love the personal touches and the aesthetic of it. Can’t wait for more! ❤️
I can’t believe you are giving the tooth tabs another try! Well I guess you did it with the bidet and now you love it but it’s amazing the things you are willing to do for sustainability! I think that’s what I love the most about you, that you do these things because you honestly care and not because of your channel. 👏👏👏
I loved this video! I love seeing what you're making for meals too. I'm hoping to eat more vegan meals this year so I can use all the inspiration I can get! It's fun to follow you shopping too. I bet your shopping changes a bunch with the seasons. I'd love to see how that changes throughout the year. It might inspire people to eat more local seasonal foods.
Though I can’t always be sustainable bc I’m only 16 and don’t always have control over the things bought for my house, I try my best to only shop second hand for most things and I’ve been convincing my mom to try more sustainable products and use less. Your videos are soooo helpful in that front so thank you!!
I loved all the outfits! The wrap shirt looked so nice on you, the style and color really suit you but for the weather what you chose was definitely best. Also I usually eat my food like Madison where I combine it all (only if its something like tacos lol)
I switched to a vegan diet, but I have a lot of restrictions that make purchasing vegan and sustainable alternatives really hard. I would love to see a soy free, corn free vegan haul with sustainable packaging if possible! I end up having to make a lot of things myself, or the things I purchase come in plastic containers and having some more information would be much appreciated, especially since soy and corn allergies are very common and might keep people from switching to more plant based diets. :) Thanks for such a great video!
I also eat my desk. its nice to eat alone and mindfully. I love those cardboard boxes the tomatoes came in I use them to sort out my fridge, but most stores here let you pour the veg into a reuseable bag cos its sold by weight anyway. That craft store is a dream!
Thank you so much for letting me know you like this style of video! Loved the video style
When you made that call, asked for a manager and then complimented them I just imagined the lady on the other end going "OMG a reverse Karen!" 😆
Love you both💖 I eat like Madison☺🍽 haha
A tip: watch movies at Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using it for watching lots of of movies lately.
@Edwin Robert Yup, I've been watching on flixzone for since november myself :)
Cool shot of you on the phone talking to a rep / manager--thanks for including--very helpful in modeling how to get your point across kindly
I *love* that you carve out a part of your day to reach out to companies/government for both their good and bad behaviour. Very inspiring!
Shes creative and resourceful. Im sure many of us wouldn’t have even thought about it.
I keep a running list and try to do it once a month 🤗
Madison just continuing to eat while you talk to the camera is everything
We watched that back and laughed out loud 😂 she always eats so damn fast
Ohhhhh hey I see you with your aesthetic intro, what a beautifully filmed, informative and fun video. Also love that Mads is learning Spanish, I am too!
Just wanted to say that caramel colored cardigan looks so good!! And miyoko’s butter is great - we use it in our vegan cookies 🍪☺️
Ah thank you so much Christine! Your cookies are amazzzzing ❤️

My cat always gets up with me too and follows me around the house for the rest of the day. What did we do to deserve pets 🥰
I like to call pets our little guardian angels ❤️
It's really awesome of you that you don't just call companies to complain, but to compliment them when they do something right. Thank you.
Wow that grocery store looks amazing! No stores in my area has such an abundance of produce and package free goods. What a gift!
So now that I'm early I hope you see this..... thank you so much for helping me open my eyes to how my bd habits hurt the earth around me thank you !!!

Yassss! Still new to SA and loving CM. So excited to try out Spare Parts too!!!
That madewell skirt was literally MADE for you
Ahh thank you! I love it! Already worn it 3 times since I got it 😂

I watched a Civil Action in my environmental policy class and I love that film.
I love that you called to leave a compliment with the manager! I’m sure they receive very few positive calls. Great work on all the initiatives Shelbi!
It is so great that you not only let a company know what they can improve but also tell them how great they are doing. I'll have to start doing that!
I love the music, the aesthetic, and the general flow of this video.
I'm always amazed when people don't know certain fruits or veggies, I'm pretty sure I would find some surprises in american supermarket. :D That paprika is called kapia and its super sweet. I also use some in my homemade ketchup :)
THANK YOU. I've seen it before and could not remember the name. And it's not like looking up "types of large red pepper" would be very easy.

Yeah, they may want to see the interest

Girl, you never fail to amaze me! ♥️😭 thanks for asking others to do good for the earth and future generations ♥️
I’m moving to San Antonio the second week of February, and it’s the BIGGEST blessing that you share your favorite zero/low waste places 🥺❤️
Wait this wasn't just at my school?? I always wondered why not everyone had to take it!
I’ve found Miyokos at target and Publix for anyone who lives close to either of those!
You’re such an inspiration. I don’t have any good role models to look up to in my life, thank you for being that person❤️ your videos and your care for the planet warms my heart so much and inspires me everyday to be a better person. 🥺
Seriously, everything you tried on looked amazing.
Love the fact you explain why things are good vs. not so good. Your personality is great! Funny, passionate, just awesome.
The PLANTS!! 🥰🥰 I’ve been trying to shop more bulk here in NYC. I’ve noticed I really have to be mindful about what I’m using constantly so I have an actual idea of what I need rather than being like “ooo that looks interesting!” And never eating it.
Whenever I buy spaghetti sauce I save the jar and use it for anything I need to store!
I don’t make comments often but I just wanted to share that I loved this style of video! and hearing the rep on the phone smile when she realized she wasn’t getting complained at was sooooo cute 🥺🥺🥺
The outfits you chose look lovely on you. Always great to thrift or salvage clothing when you can.
“Not only the mouthwash fairy” 😹 amazing!
So excited that you got to experience Spare Parts! Spare Parts is definitely worth a visit! Schools do need to talk about climate change more especially in Texas. As an Art Teacher, I always try to create a sustainable classroom. There needs to be more students, parents and community members to support this mission!
*continues to watch her vids Bc she’s interactive with comments 😭❤️*
Edit: you’re makeup looks good
Always ❤️
Lol seattle weather is crazy!! One time I experienced hail, sunshine, and a rainbow simultaneously!!
So great that you go out of your way to pay a compliment on a job well done. 👌
I absolutely loved this video!! Amazingly edited! Would you be willing to do a video on toothpaste options (especially now that you have a new one)?
Oooh that's a good idea. I just might have to do that.
😭
Definitely use the bulk bin that just pours into your jar, rather than the bin.
Thanks for such a great video!
I also eat my desk. its nice to eat alone and mindfully. I love those cardboard boxes the tomatoes came in I use them to sort out my fridge, but most stores here let you pour the veg into a reuseable bag cos its sold by weight anyway. That craft store is a dream!
