The most important thing LK didn't talk about is that, legitimately, no joke, Johnny's Mist Finer in that version used to build FIVE TIMES more meter. To put this into perspective, whenever you use an RC in Xrd, your meter gain is cut by 80% for the next 6 seconds, and is a huge meter gain nerf that makes you have to think about when you use RC, because it essentially makes you build no meter for a long time. Current, top tier, top 1 Johnny in Rev2 has this debuff on his Mist Finer at all times compared to launch Johnny because of how absurdly high the Mist Finer meter build was. This is also without mentioning that Johnny is STILL one of the best characters in the game at building meter, if not the single best, after this massive nerf. Release Johnny was insanely fucked up

Daraku Tenshi actually was commercially released in Japan and they were planning to release in the USA but it never happened despite the USA dipswitch being the default in MAME. They made a USA version setting in the rom ,but it never got released or if it did it was super limited like in Japan. They did apply for a patent of Fallen Angels with the USA copyright office but its long since lapsed. As far as Roche he hovers somewhere around mid tier in competitive DT. In DT the properties of some of your moves change when you have POW flashing which the fightcade script seems to be keeping it full 100% of the time so some of that stuff won't work without him having full meter, which drains automatically in this game once its full or you use a super. If you want to see the truly op stuff Yuiren and Yuiran are top tier without a doubt. Insane pressure, wacky overheads, everything you need.

Also launch adult Gohan really doesn’t seem ‘broken’, it’s also important to note that at the beginning of fighterZ people sucked, and he got patched Waaaay before anyone was actually good at the game. It’s not that characters couldn’t do cool combos it’s just people didn’t know about them, they didn’t know what to look for and a lot of characters got changed a lot in that early stage making it difficult to pin down combo routes and tech early on. I think if we all went back and played factory fighterZ for a week, now, there would be equally busted things about a lot of the characters in the game that kind of overshadow a lot of the things that made him so good. I still think he would be one of if not the best character in the game, but being the best character in any given game doesn’t make them ‘broken’ if there are a lot of other characters with unique skills on a similar level; if that makes sense
Bruh…..hard knock down off any hit….DP into assist….you litterally never had to guess on wake-up as him. Litterally never. You were always safe. Although 21 was top tier back then and no one played her because leffen said she sucked. She had insane routes, and a infinite, great level 3 oki, the Same level 3 oki people were crying about in the newer seasons until it got nerfed that you could combo into with any character.

Shoulda talked about DBFZ release A16. Nobody else had a true hard-knockdown whenever they hit you. That kind of oki in DBFZ is crazy powerful. His level 3 mix was also broken. Edit: didn’t realize gohan had the HKD off of a special as well lol my bad. His 5H armor was also infinite I think lol you could just mash it and it beat everything. Even beams. He was absolutely wild.
Steve in smash is literally a broken character, he currently has a new "tech" (it's basically a bug lol) which makes it so he can cancel his hitsun and basically not die. That's not to mention all the other broken mechanics he already has

A personal pick for me is Rudol Von Stroheim in Jojo's ASB:R. Normally he's a pretty above average character that can still be reasonably dealt with if you play your hand right, but God help you if he turns on the UV lamps, when he has those things on he can confirm like 75% combos off of nearly any stray hit then incinerate what's left of you with a GHA. The only thing balancing out his demented damage in UV mode is that half of the damage he deals with those attacks gets turned into auto recovering grey health, so Stroheim can dish out a 90% combo but drop the killshot leaving you on death's doorstep and hoping to God you can stall him out long enough to get that 45% of your health back and then pray you don't get clipped again while his UV lamps are still active and make something work, because if you do get nicked then you're just a dead man. The immense range he has with the lamps doesn't do you many favors, he has probably the best range in the game outside of Kakyoin and projectile based characters like Hol Horse and Narancia, UV Stroheim is a pure melee character that can zone out basically every other character in the game which is actually mental to me. He probably has a very obvious counter beyond simply out zoning him with a ranged focus character but I'm probably too stupid to figure out what it is.
Launch A16 was also kinda broken, his 236S left him +2, you could loop into it infinitely in blockstrings and frame trap anybody and its always your turn if they dont have DP or reflect correctly
Not to um akshually but you guys didn't mention the universal command dash/roll defensive option and how that works in daraku tenshi or Yuiren, who has a 1 button infinite using the command dash
I found another game you can play with sub's it is an old game called Kakuge Yaro. It's a fighting game where you can build your characters fighting style. You should give it a shot for your next tournament with sub event thingy.

As prime gohan downplayer #69420 I must correct some of the nonsense about season 1 gohan On launch his 8f 0 on block 2L... was an M starter Back then you only needed to let you opponent play for ~1f before getting your assist back. You can imagine what this means with launch kid buu or ssj assist and how much it hurt to challenge him He could also solo extend after burning his skd meterlessly.... midscreen So when you would do your normal 5M2M3H sj bnb route after the j2H 214L at the top of the screen? you buffer ff hit jM... 5M and keep going .... much privilege, many damage, such wows. he uses 214H to do that now so not only 236H was +7 or something crazy so the jL afterward could true string but you could sneak a 1f gap into your blockstrings so assist start coming back for the next one to mix. His midscreen fuzzy vs tall characters could be solo converted... meterlessly thanks to jL j236M 5M which he could also setup with 2H j236H jLM iirc and top it all off METER PENALTY DIDN'T EXIST.... So mind you the character with near infinite solo blockstrings some of the only corner combos with so much meter build they nerfed it twice... toss in some 214H hkd oki and dp assist add what we know today about unifuzzy and snap?? and you have a character where losing is simply a choice

If LK had a console, all he'd have to do is delete the game and then redownload it. Before it can update, start playing the game. Most games will play in that 1.0 patch using this method. You can also do that with discs as well
I don't really get into vs games I own them cause I support most of the ip, and early memories on some as a kid the one ones for a short time was mvc2, mostly cause it was hyped crazy in 2008 from one person in life , and was fun with close friend party fights
Brawl Meta Knight was inarguably stronger, but the only reason he wasn't banned was because >50% of top players were using him and banning him would have killed Brawl's scene (not that not banning him helped in the end.). Steve may have been banned early, but it's clear he's the best in the game and its important to ban him BEFORE he becomes the meta

in the case of the dbfz the game changed quite a bit on release to about 6-8 months by the time EVO transpired. A16 fell off the elite list, Vegeta assist got hit, A-Gohan's unique stuff got hit and other chars who were relatively untouched (Cell, Yamcha, Kid Buu, Gotenks) were still getting play along with the strength of DLC Bardock who was a good and easy character to utilize.

in the case of the dbfz the game changed quite a bit on release to about 6-8 months by the time EVO transpired. A16 fell off the elite list, Vegeta assist got hit, A-Gohan's unique stuff got hit and other chars who were relatively untouched (Cell, Yamcha, Kid Buu, Gotenks) were still getting play along with the strength of DLC Bardock who was a good and easy character to utilize.
@@t4d0W kid buu was the only one to not get nerfed in any way basically until the time LC or SS4 got released.
