Model 1900 (Double Barrel Shotgun) Factory Variant can be unlocked by:
- 40 kills with the M97 Trench Gun Backbored
- 5 kills with the AT Rocket Gun in a round
Model 1900 (Double Barrel Shotgun) Slug Variant can be unlocked by:
- 50 kills with the 12G Automatic Extended
- 20 kills with the Gasser M1870

Hey I'm having trouble unlocking it if I get a kill with the M97 trench gun backboard shotgun it dose not count to the kill meter dose enybody know if it's a bug please tell me

Fun fact: pretty much a myth, not impossible but rather rare. Shotguns weren’t that common and if fritz is throwing grenades at you wouldn’t it be better just to shoot him. He’s close enough.

The slug variant is my favorite gun in the game. I slay people up close and afar with this beast.
It also involves psychlogical warfare , because scouts start strafing around and searching cover when they see another scout , but they don't expect to get counter-sniped by an assault

Excellent point and I tried using a model 10 shotgun as a counter weapon to model 1900 with the drawback of 78 rounds per minute as opposed to model 1900 300 rounds per minute

7 Service Stars with the Slug and 4 with the Factory...Slug is easily my new favorite gun in the game.
I LOVE the slug version. It's the most satisfying weapon for me because every kill feels earned. Also outsniping snipers feels good

Hooh, boy. This thing. You know, I used to hate this thing. Am I glad that the maniacs who use this thing know how to use it, because I sure don’t. I still think you have to be a wizard or imbued with the power of the elder gods to make this thing work. Either that, or you completed every DOOM game on Ultra-Nightmare damage-less. I don’t even get mad when I inevitably get an impromptu face removal surgery done by the DOOM marine on a 50 killstreak with 38 service stars whose shots seem to be willed into my chest with the force and certainty of the Doom Slayer preventing us from taking the sector on operations. It certainly takes skill to use, which I never thought I would say about shotgun, which I definitely don’t have.
The factory variant is my top gun, closely followed by the sawed off varient. It's pretty easy to use when you get down the ability to time your shots, certainly not as easy to use as the Model 10 A Scumgun, but still pretty easy. The sawed off version definitely requires more skill, due to the reduced range and increased spread, but fast reload.
If I just want to load up the game and have fun, this is the weapon I choose, something about it is just so satisfying. Toss in the Obrez for the side arm and you have a really fun loadout.

I love the slug variant. It is so accurate and can pack a huge punch even at longer ranges. I found that I can go up against most scouts and hellriegels and automatic is when using it. Even in close quarters I can still compete. I do recommend the shotgun rib sight over the standard iron sights.
I love to use both shots at the same time on close maps like Argonne Forest and Fort Vaux. Always feels good, even if it doesn't provide that much of a advantage
The slug variant is so fun to snipe with, seeing as your range is effectively doubled with the two slugs.

My way of dealing with the low ammo is using a high capacity pistol which I switch to if i miss my shots. For this I use the Mle 1903
It would probably be really unbalanced, but it would have been cool if they made the model 1900 so that instead of aiming down the sights lt shoots the left barrel and rt shoots the right barrel

Anthony DeLuca yeah I'm glad they have that as a feature, but now that I've used it the alt fire modes a bit shite since there's no time for the spread to reset so the second shot almost never hits

Sexier and funner to use than the model A. I've gotten those 40 to 50 kill games with this weapon on multiple occasion so its really more about the player skills not the weapon, heading for my 19th service star with it. Love the way the smoke glides over the barrels when ejecting the shells mm mm mm yummy yummy.
The Moor. This is the only shotgun I love to use in the game.

How would you compare the accuracy/range of the model 10-a slug to the slug variant of the model 1900? I'm new to the game and I really enjoyed using the slug variant, took some time getting used to but it was so satisfying when I got used to it. Felt like a CQC scout :')
They both deal the same damage over range, though the model 1900 won't kick upwards as much after each shot. It might not be as accurate though with it having a slightly higher horizontal figure too.

for those who were wondering if you can make m1900 a shotgun sniper with slugs and two shells at the same time:
You can't, it's not actually at the same time, the second shell just go very fast after the first one. (you can also hear it in game)

Hmmm, very tough question, I guess it depends on the situation, I tend to use them all really, though there's a few I like more than others, I'll probably make a video running over them at some point

I’m surprised some of these older guns (double-barreled shotguns and single-action revolvers) ever used in World War 1 given they seemed impractical or obsolete.

The only reason I play assault if there's not a vehicle I'm specifically hunting. I don't like playing assault much since I prefer the other classes for the support options they have available to them. Sucks my least favorite class has my favorite weapon lol

My favorite shotgun in the game. The 10-A just feels so slow to me, really don't understand all the love it gets.
The hunter version has better 1-shot distance than all other shotguns (not counting the slug versions). It's pretty damn far what we expected for shotguns in bf...well after rework of shotguns in bf4
Fun fact: If you have the Model 1900 in the sawn-off form, the reload is similar to the one from Doom II

This is the kind of shotgun you actually get respect for using.
23 stars on the factory, 13 on the sawn off, and 4 on the slug here, and honestly the sawn off varient is my favorite of all. It makes a really crispy soud when fired, the empty reload is the same speed as the full sized varients, but the 1 shot reload is far quicker. It also somehow feels more consistent with the 1 shots. The factory sometimes just.. doesn't kill, even when I'm right infront of someone, but the sawn off seems to consistently 1 hit in most situations in it's effective range

Best shotgun in the game? No, but it definitely is the most satisfying. The 10-A might be the better choice for large groups, but in 2v1 situations in CQC this shotgun blows it out of the water. I normally don’t use shotguns as I just use the automatico trench (100 service stars), this one has the least random spread. When I used the 10-A I felt like the hit marker said 50-90 damage then I get killed only to see on the killcam that he’s still close to full health. I used the Sjögren a bit, it’s also satisfying but it’s 1HK zone is really small.

I think I read somewhere that the double barrel shotgun (or coach gun back then) was from around 1875 because of the boxlock hammerless action being developed in the same year. I may be wrong as the double barrels true origin is a little cloudy, but it's often dated as 1875 for that reason.
As far as I know, the earliest military use of DB shotguns was by William Travis's cavalry company in the Texas Revolution. Travis actually died with one in his hands at the Alamo.
I wanna say 1850ish, at least for the design we use. I think there was an earlier abandoned design in the late 1700s, but honestly, shotguns aren't my forte.
