Original RE still has a large fan base. Fixed cameras, gloomy surroundings, intense music, terrifying enemies, scarce ammo at given times, strategy (not just puzzles but choosing how to tackle different enemies, how to avoid them and working your way around obstructions). That's what it'll always be to me.
So I was just messing around looking for shit to kill for fun and went back to the main hallway and discovered this awesome soundtrack which I never heard before and it was awesome! A++++
Yes it is! That song truly means now the shit has hit the fan, big time! Forget the zombies those are child's play, these hunters are the REAL monsters!
I remember listening to this while I was doing hw in my college library at night, I remember getting a weird and mysterious kind of feeling especially after not seeing anyone
I still like to walk around campus at night playing horror game soundtracks on my headphones when hardly anyone's there and pretend I'm in a survival horror game
This music totally creeped me out when I returned to the mansion... But I think it's a great way to still make you feel uncomfortable so far into the game and with the Hunters now roaming the mansion as well.
I like how it wasn't just suddenly hunters, no. While there are some that are there as soon as you get back, there's several spots that they'll bust through a window or two and say hi. Not knowing where those triggers are is a good way to make a familiar location scary again.
Yeah, and RE4 had some really eerie and jaw dropping moments. Especially going back to the village at night, when it was down pouring and there was a dense fog. One of my favorite parts in that game. But I still prefer REmake for pure atmosphere . Everything in the Mansion absolutely oozes with that surreal, creepy, atmospheric quality. So damn terrifying and yet engrossing at the same time.
i really don't understand why people dislike the turn RE took. I played all the classics, AND LOVED THEM. but when RE4 came out the change in gameplay was incredible, and I loved it too. And when RE5 came out I loved it, and I still do. Its the only game in history of gaming that I can play faithfully and not get tired of it (mercenaries mode) which makes RE5 my personal favorite, (like I said before, I love all the old ones, 2 is the best classic one)
I was in my band class one day and my teacher turned the metronome on at full blast. Coincidentally the tempo was THE EXACT SAME SPEED as the grandfather clock in this room. I was having flashbacks to playing this game and I was freaking out so badly. It was creepy and awesome at the same time.
When you fucked up at school, got called to the principal, you get home and they don’t jump straight into the lecture leaving you to wonder if the school actually called them or not, more terrified than if you had just gotten simply grounded
This is my favorite soundtrack! So I've been playing this for years and always trying to speed run my best time etc. so one day I just decided to mess around and look for zombies I didn't kill or rooms I didn't explore and hopefully find re spawned zombies since I had plenty of ammo and just wanted to casually take my time exploring so when I went back in the mansion main hallway THIS IS THE SOUNDTRACK I heard which I never heard before and I loved it! It's super creepy and so casual at the same time until the Hunters suddenly break in in spots I never knew they would break into and it was pretty fun just doing this. Anyone out there play this game and just mess around and just look for shit to kill for fun? So yeah...I saved the game right before going down to kill Lisa and take Barry's gun but I just decided to go back up and open the door to let the dogs in and kill them and then find Forest and mess with him etc. Anyway great soundtrack. A+++
I will always protect RE4, sorry. It was scary, with a different manner to do it. It was just different. More anxiousness and uneasiness than pure fear and survival. I love so much the old ones and RE4 too, both of their styles was great for me! Buuuuuut we're totally agree about what comes next. There's no doubt about it. I enjoyed RE5's awesome cutscenes (not necesseary the story itself) and the music, that's all. The Mercenaries was quite fun though I admit. Played RE6, never touch it again once finished. Even its OST is generic as fuck. RE7 don't interest me. It's SOOOO out of subject for me, even if it's actually a survival horror paradoxically.
@xxSoLaRDeStrucTioNxx They are referred to as "Crimson Head's" because the head/bodie of the Zombie turns a crimson red color once it mutates into the Crimson Head.
There is a memo on the dining room. Read it ? *Yes* "Jill, Chris, welcome back. We hope you enjoyed your time in the pool with the Neptune Bros. We look forward to hunt you again. The Mansion staff"
@Rodriguez0135 Most old school Resident Evil fans like the new camera angle, new controls and graphics, it's just the lack of survival horror that messed everything up. The series desperately needs zombies again, which Resident Evil Revelations for the 3DS is bringing back, as well as a dark tone to the graphics.
i said resident evil 4+5 was a action shooter not horror, but resident evil zero and remake of 1 and resident evil 2 was a HORROR games it was the best parts i have ever played
Even aside from that, there are rumors of an RE2 remake on Wii that has nothing to do with Darkside Chronicles. Just because Darkside was announced does not mean the rumors are dispelled. Takeuchi has said he would like to remake RE2...so maybe...
@infinityblablabla I know what you're trying to say, but there's a difference in survival horror. You have Remake, where you get, for example, like two bullet packs and you have to do with it, no matter how many monsters you encounter. In RE4 or 5, survivability isn't the idea anymore. You get loads of herbs, sprays and not to mention ammo. Even on veteran difficulties. Remember Real Survival Mode in Remake? Now THAT was survival horror ;)
Ah I remember this - is it when you return to the mansion after being outside and in the Neptune labs...then when you come back there are Hunters instead of zombies?
remake of re2 and re3,that will not be possible, but, they are doing a remake of re2 for wii, like umbrella chronicles.the name of the game is darkside chronicles.
@Wingerdinger0 Resident Evil 4 was a DESPERATELY needed breath of fresh air imo.Granted it wasn't nearly as creepy and scary as the the first or Gamecube remake.I have not played 5 I heard it sucked though.Really I think that what made the originals "scary" was the fixed camera angles and not seeing what was on screen till it was to late. Also the breaks between the action built up the tension.I think now Capcom has to strike a balance between action and scary survival horror.
@Gemberaapje WRONG. This is the problem that many of the RE fans are always getting wrong. RE4 may not have been a 100% RE game, but it was certainly one. RE4 had the atmosphere and nostalgia that RE games gave to the player. It had a lot more action and an almost entirely different story. But you STILL knew that it was Resident Evil, that feeling remained, no matter how you put it. Part 1.
...the enemies are not smarter than older enemies. They may move faster but they are in no way any better in intelligence. And no, I'll still blame RE4. It's what started the crap of just mowing down all the enemies you come across to get to the end. No longer is there backtracking through interlocking areas or puzzles all over the place. You no longer even need to worry about conserving ammo cause the game feeds it to you.
edward18517 There is a small amount of backtracking in 4. Puzzles are still there. RE4 was a much needed change in the franchise. The game takes skill. The only differece is the change in perspective. Zombies got old fast.
Galaxeus *"RE4 was a much needed change in the franchise"* BULLSHIT! REmake is a masterpiece i played in 2015 BTW and it BLEW me away! nothing in REmake needs to be changed whatsoever. in 2010, you would still play games made with those specifics, and i replay old games of course but i mean, like still buy games made as if they were in 96'
@Fatcatnevercameback yeah, I thought RE4 was the most atmospheric since this game. The style was a little different, but they're definitely the two scariest in the series. RE5 isn't a bad game in it's own right, but the eerie tone of it's predecesors was completely lost.
@Gameprofessional It's because Resident Evil 4 totally changed the gameplay: before Resident Evil 4, it was survival horror. When Resident Evil 4 and 5 came out the gameplay changed into a shooter-based game, which I think Resident Evil shouldn't be. Resident Evil 4 wasn't a bad game however. A very good and suspenseful shooter, I'd say.
RE4 had good gameplay, no doubt, but to me and other original RE supporters, it wasn't an RE game. It might have saved the franchise in sales, but surely didn't give us quality survival horror and that's just a fact. But to each their own.
What is the one that also plays after you return from the residence, in different rooms where this one doesn't? And, thankfully, still got a GC with RE on it- awesome.
@LordMalice6d9 Oh yeah, I totally agree with you. Re2 is the best by far to me. then REmake ranks second. But I also really love the new gameplay (it had to be updated sometime) they just haven't gotten it quite right yet. They need to keep it like it is, but add in Dead Space-esque control scheme, with classic enemies in large groups and tight corridors. Bring survival along with the horror back.
@edward18517 The only point you brought up that I agree with is that RE4 fed you ammo and diminished the strategy and tension of the shooting. That, and the puzzles. Backtracking is usually just a crutch developers use to pad out a game. The enemies in RE4 ARE smarter since they can regularly duck or sidestep to avoid fire and flank you. In the previous games you had to mow down enemies to get to the end as well, they were ZOMBIE GAMES for crap's sake.
I would really really love if they remade 3. but seeing as how they did Umbrella and Darkside chronicles. those are basically the remakes, ala reCAP of the sequels. so i doubt it.
@themarkofthebeast3 I can tell you why they wouldn't. The world actually doesn't have enough room to fit the aftermath of such a large orgasm brought by the epicosity.... its sad, i know, but i blame capcom for making such great games!
@edward18517 The only thing RE4 abandoned was the stale gameplay that the series had outgrown. It was still VERY much a horror game but with smarter, more plentiful enemies instead of zombies popping out of closets. If you want to blame a game for leading the series astray, then blame RE5.
Listening to this theme really brings back memories when resident evil was not trashed by failed director, producer, and writer: Anderson. I miss the good scares and thrills from playing a zombie horror game and resident evil is my baby, its the one series of games I can call a marvellous success but I cant help but shun the movies for being so horribly innacurate and cheezy. Capcom is just digging their own grave by making games that they think are just gonna entertain most gamers these days.
@edward18517 We're getting a bit off-track with bringing up Metroid since it's a relatively fast-paced sci-fi platformer. Anyway, if you don't like the action of RE4, then that's simply your preference and there's nothing I can say to change it. CAPCOM painted the house red and you wanted it painted green but it's a good house either way. And by house I mean RE4. If you want to continue this discussion on the merits and demerits of RE4 as opposed to the originals then I'm game.
@edward18517 Dude, why would you play a zombie game and not kill the zombies? I've played the original RE games enough times to know that there was always just enough ammo to kill ALL of the enemies in each game. And Metroid is a totally different beast from RE. The backtracking in a Metroid game works perfectly because of how densely interconnected each level is with one another. And RE4 had backtracking that worked perfectly because it was minimal but dramatic.
@Lukmendes I tried to play Outbreak but it annoyed the piss outta me. I hear the guy who directed Outbreak 2 is directing RE6. Let's hope he's gotten ALOT better since then.
omg this reminds me how good this game was... the genre was perfect before re4 screwed it all up(not to mention re5). this game is how survival-horror should be.
@infinityblablabla Well infinity, I must say maybe 1% of the actual atmosphere of earlier resident evils was in RE4, however as sadly as it may be, RE4 will never be able to get the horrificly creepy atmosphere from RE Remake. RE4 and especially 5 were just not scary, at least not to me. They were good action-oriënted games though, but if i want to play action games, i can just as well play call of duty or devil may cry. For me, Remake will always be and stay the scariest resident evil!
this game will always be one of the terrific games ever because of the fucking super zombies. i hate this creepy things. i always pissed in my pants when i must pass a dead zombie in a close room >.>
The change in music is subtle but effective. It's conveying the feeling that this is not the same mansion you remember
MasterHelpo yes the original re1 has a charm to it
This is why i kinda felt seeing Raccoon city nuked. Because it also meant the end of the RE as we once knew it.
The best style of RE hands down. RE4 was the beginning of the end
@@reniisgod then re7 came back, wasn't an exact replica of this but it still felt very remenecent of the first game.
When there's no more regular zombies in the mansion... Just monesters from nightmares.
Shit still gives me chills.
And also the Crimson Heads from those said zombies.
Not to mention Hunters
But there are still unvisited rooms and corridors with regualr zombies in them.
So I was just messing around looking for shit to kill for fun and went back to the main hallway and discovered this awesome soundtrack which I never heard before and it was awesome! A++++
Crimson Heads and a limited supply of kerosene brought this game to a whole new level of SCARY.

To me this is the scariest track of this game's soundtrack.
When the electricity goes out during a Stormy night and you're left in the dark.

The sudden change in this track to make you look around a corner, right behind you, or take out your gun just can scare the shit out of you.
Even with the new firepower, you were still dreading their appearance...
Even with the shotgun/grenade launcher, you were still holding your dreading the moment they came out...

@Gemberaapje why people is critic with re4 re4 is a really nice game, unlike 5...
@Granitoons how do you get all the resident evil remake soundtrack??
Hey guys do you know how could download these musics :/ ? Thanks vey much for helping me :/
this game will always be one of the terrific games ever because of the fucking super zombies. i hate this creepy things. i always pissed in my pants when i must pass a dead zombie in a close room >.>
If capcom actually will remake RE 2 and 3 for the wii then it will be a good enough reason to buy the console lol
