@@sontodosnarcos It's from one of those red wall mounted boxes with a pull down lever, if memory serves it is a fire alarm. There is a scene where Kurt Russell activates it. Can't find a clip of it, but this scene has the alarm sound at 0:57. th-cam.com/video/w0Z44BIDPPc/w-d-xo.html
One of the best alarm sounds I've ever heard. I can just imagine myself running through the Nostromo trying to escape before the self-destruct reaches zero.
Box Office Audiences today don't want to be shown something realistic. It's "boring" to them. With smartphones and IPad's lowering everyones attention span, movies are now trying to appeal to the masses. But yes, all great film was done in the 70s/80s.
I saw Alien when it came out in 79 at the Charles in Boston. I was 17 Old school 2 level theater with the side opera seats. Perfect for it. I'll never forget the audience as they exited when it was over. Nobody was saying a fucking word. Everyone was completely stunned, in shock, by what they just witnessed. Ridley Scott's finest work for my money..
The entire sequence - up to & including the deep space detonation of a nuclear device, STILL stands out as one of the best special effects ever filmed .
I love how all the sirens and klaxons stop 5 second short of detonation (11:40), just leaving the reactor core beat flatlining and MU/TH/UR counting down the last digit - it almost has a cathartic relief to it.
Now you formally admitted to detonating an m class star freighter, a rather expensive peace of hardware - 42 millions in adjusted dollars, that's minus payload of course (the alien).
On top of that, Ripley had to evacuate that ship with nothing but a flamethrower and Jones, in tow…in the darkness and with the Xenomorph chasing her! Total throwback! Super scary. 😱👽☠️
Love that even though it's literally just a countdown and some audio, they couldn't be bothered to actually sync it/the last 30 seconds properly. '300' on screen "TWENTY-NINE!"
If I was a part of the crew of the Nostromo and I was with Ripley and watched her as she activated the ships self destruct the first thing I would have done when she completed the task is grab her arm, grab the carrier with the damn cat and made a mad dash for the escape shuttle not waste time looking everywhere for the monster and launch the shuttle and get clear of the ship.
Alien yeah This was THE OG ALARM 🚨 that set off the influence for the Metroid escape sequences and more closely similar sounding to the Resident evils series alarm influence.
I think my favorite autodestruct sequence, is the one from the game called "SCP - Secret Lab" I really love the voice of the Ai combined with the creepy ambience sounds and the fact that the facility is a complete danger with all the creatures wandering around...
10/5 alarm Also i remember one scene of the film: Turn the cooling unit back on! *The ship will automaticly destruct in t-minus 5 MINUTES.* YOU B***H!!! _breaks the monitor_
This makes me picture someone putting up a last stand against the Xenomorph and buy time for the rest to escape. They know they're gonna die but they're sure as shit gonna make sure the bastard dies with them.
Mother: Danger! The Emergency Destruct System Is Now Activated. The Ship Will Detonate In T-Minus 10 Minutes. The Option To Override Automatic Detonation Expires In T-Minus 5 Minutes.

@@McAmber That is nice! Yes indeed. I am fan of the Alien franchise since I was a child😂. A child that loves Aliens🤣. My mommy said there were no monster, no real ones, but there are!
@@naturalwizard1441 I wouldn’t be able to do it with this because this movie is way too scary for me, but I will bet there are some people who do, and I do fall asleep to all those Titanic sinking animation videos! 😅
You wont understand the raw fear I had when she couldn't find Jonsey when I saw this for the first time at 12. By the time she did I said to myself "You little shit! Don't hide like that ever again!" I grew up with cats all my life. We had lived in apartment that had a faulty fire alarm system that would always go off in the middle of the night up until three in the morning sometimes. After seeing this movie, it happened a week later. All I could think about was this when dad couldn't find Lucky. Little shit hid himself in a corner under the bed they couldn't reach. Mom had to scoop him out and haul ass because we never knew if it was just the alarm being faulty or if it was a real fire. Honestly they need to use this instead of normal alarms, because this one for sure would make me haul ass.
If I was making a self-destruct alarm, I would have it go silent after the point of no return. Maaaaybe a quiet voice every minute saying "4 minutes until self destruct", "3 minutes until self destruct", etc....but if everybody is going to die, give them a few moments to compose themselves, yeah?
Hmm, good point. 👍 Since this alarm was used in a movie, extra sound was added to increase tension for survivors and viewers for more to feel upcomming danger of space station to blow up.
Keep the alarm going near the ailocks and other entry points to the ship, but lower volume for the rest... then again if your not on an escape craft by the time it reaches that point your probably nearly doomed anyway
Can you imagine if every nuclear power plant did not have any employees around the world due to a pandemic of huge proportions where there's no mankind to keep the nuclear reactors in check after let's say 30 days or maybe within 2 months when the cooling systems fail on this planet?
@@McAmber that might be a possibility but you would think with the automated cooling systems those cooling systems wouldn't they be run by diesel to pump the water into the reactor for the cooling part of it and also too probably diesel fuel Supply might only last 10 maybe 30 days?
Next to the alarm from John Carpenter's "The Thing" this has got to be the most fear inducing alarm EVER
