Modding the stems makes it smoother, but the biggest part about it is doing a hollee mod, or at lease putting lube in the top hole of the two holes. Hope it helped! ✌️

nice video dude, i modded the same keyboard with a few layers of tape mod under the pcb (probably around 3 layers) and a little bit of dampening foam on the case. Also lubed the stablizers, used some akko cs v3 cream switches and it sounds lovely.
nice! I have a k552 that I am currently modding. The thing is...opening the red switches it came with was not fun and I cut myself once or twice white using my pocket knife and small flathead to open some a few of them..so I am now waiting on my switch opener to come in the mail lol. Great video!
When you type next time, type actually cuz it sounds better. When you tye like this you are just clicking randomly and drag your finger on the keys. It makes the sound mushy on the stock one. All tho nice vid mate! Cheers!

Damnn, the keycaps looks fire, i have 2 option before changing my keycaps & this oceanin gradient is one of em. Ended up with Japanese Sushi theme cap since the color are blocky & not faded
nice video, straight to the point another option to upgrade this board is spending a lil extra to get 2 packages of akko switches to change on this for customing keyboard, they are quite cheap with nice quality, and also they fit on outemu hotswap socket in my opinion, outemu red is the worst red switch, not worth to lube them to be honest
I can agree outemu reds are the WORST!!! I tried putting in some boba u4ts, but they didn’t go into the outemu sockets. Maybe since Akko switches are kailh housing, it might work. Very unsure tho.

Hey. Cutting the foam into "peices" is better than just cutting the holes and putting it mostly intact? I guess it makes sense, but now I don't, I will be foam modding my k551
I have a version of this board with soldered blue switches, and the ping is unbearable. I tape modded the PCB and put foam, as well as taped some coins to the bottom of the case to add weight. It feels better, but the ping is still there. I'm thinking I need to desolder the switches, take them apart and lube the end of the springs with 105g0 (but not anything else). Did you experience any ping issues with the plate or with the springs in those reds?
You're getting ping because there's no sound dampeners in between the PCB and the mounting plate. Disassembling the entire board and plate is a paint in the ass if you're not good with desoldering as it can rip pads if you leave even the tiniest amount of lead or tin. I suggest you square up on your desoldering skills and install PE foam in between the plate and board, or you can buy one of those plate foams that are pre-cut and sandwhich it in between. That should get rid of most of the ping if not entirely. I would also suggest gasket mounting the board+plate to the case and not screwing it in to minimize structure borne sounds and soften up your typing experience. Good luck friend, you'll spend some moolah and a whole lot of time on this hobby but its very rewarding.

Can someone explain to me why is everyone putting dielectric instead of krytox or any other lube on metal parts of stabs? I've seen posts where people say that you have to put dielectric on plastic to metal contacts, but I couldn't find the reason..

If you are talking about the beginning of the far away typing test, that is my arm hitting my keycap puller. There is also some background noise, that is my washing machine.
@@scorpion6111 when the part of the screw that you put the screwdriver in no longer has the threads to keep the screwdriver in. Try looking up a tutorial on how to fix a stripped screw. Good luck!
If you k552 is semi-new, then I don’t think so. If it’s the one with full RGB (unlike the one I modded) then I am unaware. Try using a switch puller to pull it out. If it doesn’t even budge, then it is soldered. If it wiggles and continues to loosen, then it might be hotswap. Hope it helped!😊

Just use rubbing alc. to erase the logo. Its easier and takes less time.

how long would something like this take? I'm looking to do this within the next week or so but I'm quite tight on time
Set aside around six hours for consistent living. The stabs take around 3 hours to tune. Hope you have fun!

No it is hotswap. It was difficult, but it was fully functional after I did it.
it looks so hard because of the switch puller. 2 Small Flat head screwdrivers and a bit of carefulness work way easier.

Dialectic grease is used on the stabs simply because it is thicker, providing more of a guarantee that you won’t hear as much pinging.

You can get cherry plate mounts for a bit cheaper. If you want to be a bit lavish, go for durock plate mounts. Thanks for asking!
