I think this calls for a video of places similar to Katz's that don't break the bank. A video on value for a single quality meal and not something you have to split for value. In philly we have Hershel's East Side Deli which is a great value compared to katz's.

My grandfather took me to Katz’s first time in 1951; I’m now 74 and still enjoy going there for the pastrami. There is enough meat in the sandwich to feed four people. It is an institution for New Yorkers.
When I was in the Army during the Vietnam war, my father sent me a Katz’s salami; which continued the tradition, since my grandfather sent him a Katz’s salami while he fought in the Pacific during WW2. There is a neon sign that has been there for over 80 years that says: “Send a salami to your boy in the Army”.
I like Dr. Brown’s Cel-Ray Tonic; second choice is Dr. Brown’s Cream Soda.

Are you feeding 4 Children? There's is 1000% not enough meat for 4 lolol. This comment made my day. On top of that what does it matter that they're using some old Neon Sign, while the story is cool, not worth that cost of this sandwich, this is not worth it by far, ever.

I’m sure if you stand out side and ask randomly for someone to buy you a sandwich someone will. A lot of people will eat there as a special occasion so buying an extra sandwich wouldn’t be a big deal if it’s like a once in a lifetime or annual visit. Here in the Bronx, there’s so many authentic pizza places that are equal or better than joes pizza. Morris park and little Italy, can’t beat the local pizza spots here especially with a lot of the cheese pies being 20$ which is 2.5$ per slice for a big slice of pizza.

There is an old addage in the food business that states: "it does not matter what you charge as long as the quality and experience remains consistent"; this is why Katz's can get away with charging $26 for a pastrami sandwich. Before too long, it will be $27 for the same sandwich and I predict their business will be as strong as ever.

I was there two months ago I brought three of my friends from Toronto and none of my friends were impressed with the Joe's Pizza, btw it was cash only, I'm not a fan of the cash only establishment and that includes Peter Luger's. Best pizza we had on our last trip was John's on Bleeker. Thanks for the great NYC videos.

To put this into better perspective for those not living in the area: You are not paying $26 for a sandwich. You are paying for exorbitant labor costs, monstrous utilities and rent costs and a sandwich. Guys behind the counter are making at least $25/hour. If the business owner doesn't own the building, their rent is at least $50,000 a month. A MONTH.
